The Messenger of Death

Chapter 184: preparing to kill the test subjects ii

"Even in X-ray mode, energy crystals remain the same," Al muttered.

['That's all? They were beating him up for just 15 blue LD-ECs?'] Alex was a bit shocked.

['Although I have experienced worse than this back in Mars slums, where I used to fight for a three days-old chicken bone with other kids. I understood that we were all in the same situation unlike now. These guys just want enough money to blow up in the Bull's Coven.'] He finished.

['People will be greedy, Alex. Greed is very cheap, that's why every human can afford it, even if they have more than others their greed will still want more.'] Lex stated.

"Just 15 blue low-density energy crystals? Is this all you have?" Rayne looked disappointed.

"That's all I have, I swear." The guy quickly said.

"Okay if you say so." Rayne turned and pretended as if he was about to leave. Seeing this made the victim sigh in relief, right until Rayne turned and faced him again.

-Thud! Thud!!

"Oughf, Ahh!!"

Rayne hurled a few blows at the guy and sent him to the floor.

"You expect me to believe that this is all you have, I have a feeling that there's still some left in that storage of yours." Rayne squatted and looked the guy in his eyes.

"I swear, I don't – wait, wait." The guy wanted to deny having more crystals, but when he saw that Rayne was about to attack again he hesitated.

"I only have two left," He confessed and brought them out.

"Really, this is all you have? Seems like you still want a beating, you keep on lying to us." Rayne grabbed the guy's hair and pulled his head backward.

"I swear that's all I have left. I swear."

"The last time too, you swore but was still able to make 2 more appear. What makes you think that I'll believe you this time?"

"That's all I have got left. You can beat me all you want and no extra crystal is going to come out of me." He looked Rayne straight into his eyes.

"Good boy."

-Tap!!

Rayne slapped the back of the guy's head and collected the crystals from him. He shared it with his friends there and then. They all got 4 each.

"What do we do with the last one?" One of them asked.

"Hmm," Rayne turned and looked at the person that they just extorted crystals from. "Here, use this." Rayne gave the last crystal back to the guy.

"Do you why know I'm giving this back to you?" Rayne asked.

"No, why? I doubt that you are feeling merciful." The guy scowled at Rayne and collected the single energy crystal that was returned to him.

"Hahahaha, the guts of this guy." Rayne laughed.

-Pooph!

Rayne punched the guy's jaw and removed a few of his molars. "Use it to pay for your medical bills." He spat on him.

"C'mon guys, some lovely ladies are waiting for us in the Bull's Coven. Hehehe." One of them said.

Rayne and his friend left their room. They weren't even bothered to lock the door as they were leaving.

Al stood where he was and didn't move a muscle. With his presence hidden, Rayne and his friends didn't notice him when they passed by.

['Al what are doing?'] Alex asked when he saw that Al was going to the room that they just came out of instead of tailing the targets.

['I need to take care of something quickly before I chase after them. Besides, I know where they are going to and it's not like they are going to run elsewhere.'] Al replied.

He stepped into the room and saw the guy that Rayne extorted energy crystals from, wallowing in pain on the floor. The guy held on to his last energy stone like it was his holy grail.

Al licked his lips and smiled when he saw that. he walked to where the guy was.

"Who are you?" The unfortunate guy asked when he noticed Al.

"Not someone you know." Al relied and stepped on the wrist of the hand that was holding on to the last energy stone.

['What the hell are you doing!!?? Guys what is he doing!?'] Alex kept on asking.

['Al is just being Al.'] Lex responded.

"What are you doing!?" The guy looked frightened when he saw Al step on his wrist.

"Blowing bubbles and fighting crime, what does it look like I'm doing?" He replied sarcastically. "I'm going to save you from a lot of pain by taking this away from you." Al forced the last crystal out of the guy's hand.

"Please, no. Please," The guy pleaded with Al.

"Trust me, I'm doing you a favor so stop looking at me like I was the one that put you in this state." Al kept the crystal in his pocket and was about to leave when the guy on the floor grabbed his leg.

"Please, I have nothing left. Beat me up but please, leave that crystal with me." He begged.

Al sighed and looked at the guy on the floor. "Now what will I gain from beating you up, that's savage, sadistic, animalistic, barbaric, most of all, stupid."

-Thud!

Al kicked the hand that the guy used to grab his leg. "Just stay there and await the good tidings that I'll bring forth." He adjusted his trousers and quickly left the room to tail his targets.

['What freaking good tidings are you bringing to the guy. You stole what was left from him and say that you are not a savage, animal, or stupid. What's the difference between you and them.'] Alex fumed.

['Shut your trap rabbit, by killing them I'm also bringing that guy glad tidings. But why should make him happy without taking something from him? Taking only that crystal was me being nice to him.'] Al stated in his defense.

['You flipping thief,'] Alex insulted.

['Ahh, sounds like music to me.'] Al uttered.

['You…'] Alex paused, he didn't know what to call Al anymore.

['I thought so.'] Al chuckled.

Soon Al caught up with his targets. It was mid-day and the sun was still shining. They knocked on the bull statue the same way Alex saw Rayne do it the first time.

The doors to the coven opened up and Hansel came out to greet them.

After they entered Al went and did the same thing that they did. Hansel stepped out of the door and when she saw him her smile widened.

"It's you again, I didn't think that you were going to come back so soon. Tell me, what would you like to have this fine evening?" She placed her hand on his chest and gave him a flirtatious look.

"Hansel right?" Al placed a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"Yes, you remembered my name. I'm flattered."

"Yes I did, you are pretty after all. How about I just explore today, I don't have anything in mind yet. So while I'm in there I'll think of something or maybe someone can pique my interest." Al said.

"Sure, sure. Come in, you are free to do anything as long as it is not against the coven's rules." She stepped to the side and let him in.

Al nodded his head at her then handed 2 blue LD-ECs to her and went into the Bull's Coven.

Immediately he began searching for his targets. Not long after, he saw them sitting at a table with cards in their hands and energy crystals sprawled on the table, there was a female croupier there overseeing the game.

['They are fast to gamble away the crystals they extorted.'] He thought.

Al asked for a cup of juice, he did so just so that he could see where they bring their drinks from. He went to sit down at the same table that his targets were seated at.

['It's still too early to kill them, why don't I accompany them on a game or two.']

['And now you are about to blow my money away.'] Alex stated.

['Unlike you rabbit, I am good at making money, not spending them. Watch me play these fools with the help of the system.'] Al smirked.

"Excuse me, I'll like to join the game." He called out to the croupier.

"But the game has already started," She notified him.

Al waved his hand and brought 10 blue high-density energy crystals out of his ring.

"Woah!!" The people around exclaimed and gathered around that particular table.

"If you let me join now, I'll put all of this at stake." Al leaned back and folded his legs.

The croupier was surprised to see this, they rarely see spendthrifts like Al. She looked up and Al followed her gaze.

Someone was standing in the darkness on the 2nd floor. The person starched a hand out of the darkness, and it looked like a female's. She gave a thumbs up and approved of Al's request.

['A place that I have to avoid.'] Al thought as he looked up. He knew that the person there wouldn't be easy to deal with if she could authorize something like this.

"You fine gentlemen wouldn't mind, right?" The croupier asked.

"Why would we, if we are lucky we could win his crystals," Rayne exclaimed with greed burning in his eyes.

['Dream on dickhead.'] Al smirked.
