The Messenger of Death

Alex and the rest of his teammates went back to the Avanti manor, and when they arrived, Camron forced Alex to get his ears treated there.

"Seriously, I'm okay," Alex repeated for the umpteen time since they arrived in the manor.

"Oh I know that you're okay, but a little treatment never killed anyone," Camron said. "Well, unless it's a rare case." He added.

"Drake, do I look like I need treatment?" Alex asked.

"Since day one." Drake thought out loud.

"What?"

"Nothing, no, why would you need treatment? You are as healthy as healthy can ever be." Drake quickly added.

"Forget it, I asked the wrong person that question." Alex's facepalmed his forehead hard in frustration.

"Let's all just agree that you're okay, but you still need to get the blood in your ears cleaned… and in the process get it checked." Katherine chipped in.

"You guys aren't going to let me be until I do this?"

"Pretty much."

"Yeah." They said in unison.

"We can stay here all day," Emma added.

Alex sighed and facepalmed himself gently this time.

['Just do as they wish, I mean it wouldn't hurt to do so. Even the skin crawler suggested that you get some medical attention for your ears.'] Lex mentioned.

['I know what it said, it's just that my ears are already healing, rapidly.'] Alex replied.

['Then just go and get the blood cleaned, that wouldn't cost you anything.']

"Alright, fine. I'll do as you guys wish." Alex gave up on refusing their request.

"Great, the family's doctor is already here. He has been waiting for a while." Camron chuckled as he saw Alex's drained expression.

"Learn how to listen to us, Alexander," Camron added.

"I swear that smile on your face makes me feel like punching your throat." Alex glared at Camron and Camron laughed it off.

"You're welcome to always try," Camron said as he made Alex's shadow change its shape.

"Hmph!!" Alex scoffed at him and left to meet the doctor of the Avanti family…

By the time Alex was done with his checkup, Camron's father, Lawrence arrived at the manor.

"Sir Alexander, the master, young master, and the rest of your teammates are waiting for you at the dining." A butler that was standing outside the room that Alex just exited, informed.

"He's back? Did he come with good news?" Alex questioned.

"I know nothing of what he came back with, but the master didn't look pleased when he came back home." The butler answered while making a bow.

['What could have gone wrong?'] Alex thought began racing. ['Could the Kawataro family have done something to escape?']

['Most likely.'] Xander replied.

Alex quickly made his way to the dining. When he entered he saw Lawrence, Camron, and the rest of his teammates with sour expressions on their faces.

"What happened?"

"They were able to get any solid evidence that the Kawataro family were working with the syndicate. They weren't even able to obtain anything. Every place that they had an illegal business running that was found, was destroyed.

The Kawataro family claimed that their competitors and enemies that have been waiting for a chance to take them down destroyed their businesses before the government arrived. They destroyed them properly so that if anyone tried to investigate they wouldn't be able to come up with anything.

Then the Kawataro family captured and killed some members of the syndicate to solidify their constructed innocence. With this, the government couldn't make any more moves on them. All they have is what you guys provided for them." Lawrence finished.

This information also caused Alex's expression to turn sour. "Damn it!" Alex cursed out.

"Here I was thinking that they have met their downfall. We have to look for other ways to take them down." Alex said.

"Although they have escaped this, their reins, reputation, and standing in the western continent are plummeting as we speak. It is only a matter of time before they fall completely. You guys have already done enough." Lawrence sighed.

"Reginald?" He called and the chief butler appeared beside him.

"My lord, you called."

"The letter from the academy."

"As you wish, my lord." Reginald brought out a letter from his breast pocket. The letter had the sigil of the Severance academy.

"Meanwhile, the academy demands that the 7 of you head back to there. If you are not back on the school's premises expulsion wouldn't be the only punishment that you guys will be facing." Lawrence informed.

Alex scoffed at the threat. He knew that he wouldn't be facing expulsion because he had Nana backing him and whatever punishment the school chooses to give to him wouldn't be severe. The same applied to his teammates.

"I guess we have to head back to the academy and give a report about the mission we completed in the Poduct village." Gustavo voiced out…

Without wasting much time, the Seraphim team began preparing to head back to the academy. They got a carriage from the manor and started their journey back to the academy.

"Ah, it's been a while since I saw the gates of the academy," Camron muttered as he got off the carriage and stood in front of the academy gates.

Standing behind the gates were guards of the academy, and they all looked ready to apprehend them. The weakest amongst the guard is a rank-9 nirvana realm cultivator and the strongest was already in the late stages of the earth realm.

They were far above what the Seraphim team could handle.

As they stepped in one of the guards called out to them. "Seraphim team!?"

"Yes!! Ready to report." Camron, the captain of the team answered.

"Keep the report to yourself for now. The principal has ordered that we lock your team up for not following the rules of the academy and refusing to report after the completion of a mission." The guard said and his subordinates surrounded the whole team.

Camron frowned upon hearing this.

"What!? Fuck!" Drake cursed.

"Apprehend them," The guard commanded.

Immediately, the subordinates threw talismans at each of them except for Camron.

This talisman's purpose was to render them unable to use their cultivation prowess and immobilize them.

Alex, recognizing what type of talisman was being thrown at him, quickly inscribed a counter on the air before the talisman could activate completely.

A blue light followed along with his finger as he inscribed.

-Zing!!

The talisman that was thrown at him burnt and flew away with the breeze.

Alex was only fast enough to inscribe a counter for himself. The rest had already been caught by the talisman.

The guards quickly brought out their weapons and pointed them at Alex.

Alex also brought out the twin twilight swords from his storage ring and entered a battle stance.

"Refusing to comply will automatically turn you into an enemy that needs to be eliminated!!" The captain of the guards shouted.

"I dare you to try!!" Alex released his killing intent and let the bloodlust within envelope the guards.

The weapons that the guards were holding started to shake because of the pressure from Alex's killing intent.

His killing intent put the guards on the edge, making them frown.

'Such agonizing mental strength…' The captain of the guards thought.

"Argh!!" Gustavo cried out in pain. After having his cultivation sealed, withstanding the pressure from Alex's killing intent wasn't an easy feat.

Alex looked at his teammates and saw that his killing intent was affecting them too, and out of sympathy, he retracted his intent.

Feeling the pressure alleviate, some of the guards subconsciously sighed in relief. 

"Drop your weapon and stay still." The captain commanded, but Alex didn't look like he was ready to comply.

"What about me?" Camron asked.

"You were not included in the list therefore you have done no wrong." The captain answered.

"Alex, just do it. I will go and talk to the principal and find a way to get you guys as soon as possible." Camron coaxed.

Camron was well aware of how stubborn his friend is. Alex took a while before he decided on what to do, he returned his swords to his ring.

This time the guards apprehended him directly, with their arms. They didn't want to take chances again.

"Take them away!!" The captain ordered.

['Why did you let them get a hold of you?!'] Al's voice suddenly echoed in Alex's mind.

['What else do you want me to do? I didn't want to cause a scene.']

['You don't want to cause a scene!? Well then switch with me, I'll fuck them up good.'] Al demanded.

[Al, what Alex is doing is the right thing, just trust him.'] Lex chipped in.

['This isn't about trust, it's about pride. These measly guards have no right to touch someone like us!!']

['I could easily fuck them up myself.'] Alex added.

['Nana wouldn't stand for this, and if was here, she would fuck you up for being taken down this easily.']

['Wouldn't that be lovely, Al? Violence isn't the right answer this time.'] Alex stated.

['Do as you please…'] Al stopped there.
