The One after my Heart

Chapter 23:An angel's wings (2)

Kyra's eyes seemed to be hypnotized by the red circle dot amid Maya's eyebrows, and she couldn't stop staring at it.

It was only when she felt Nisa's body spasm wildly next to her, that she was pried away. The ground around them had long gotten damp as blood spread out.

Despite Kyra's attempts, she felt Nisa get weaker with every second and knew Nisa was about to take her last breath any moment now. Kyra couldn't stop weeping at her own misery and plight.

"Help...We need help! Is anyone out there to help?" Kyra had no choice but to scream out loud as she wished for someone to appear with all her heart.

Even though she knew deep down that amidst this mist covered area that was covered with hazy fog, it was improbable for someone to show up, she had to try.

"Spare me the pitiful drama", the middle-aged man sarcastically chuckled as he heard her pleas.

Kyra couldn't help but curse her fate and at the heavens for being so unfair. She'd turned her back towards him as she placed herself between the girls and the man. She didn't care if he had attacked her since she knew it was futile to defend or escape. Might as well die before something had happened to the two sisters.

From the man's earlier words, she'd figured out that they probably weren't supposed to have harvested the Kitthale fruit. It most likely was off-limits for others to take or something similar.

If only they hadn't come here, she cursed herself. That so-called damn Kitthale fruit! What was the point of such treasures if they literally threatened your life!

And then suddenly with a start as though she remembered something, as something struck her mind!

How stupid can I be! Isn't this just the perfect moment!? It was now or never, and it was worth a try.

She stealthily leaned forward with her back still towards the man as she reached out and put her hands into the jacket that Maya wore on her.

She only hoped that the middle-aged man hadn't noticed her movements and interrupted her. If she could have Nisa recover and awake, maybe, then she could convince the murderous middle-aged man glaring at her back.

Without losing any time, she pulled out her hand from now Maya's jacket, and a bright yellow coloured marble shaped fruit that was a size just a little bigger than that of a grape appeared on her palm.

Without wasting any time, Kyra opened Nisa's lips that were covered in blood and fiercely pinched the ripe Kitthale fruit with her fingers into Nisa's mouth. Kyra intended to soften it for the latter so it would be easier to swallow. An intense and vibrant aromatic fruity fragrance spread all around them.

As the sparkling juices and soft pulp were fed into Nisa's mouth, Kyra shook her body as she fiercely whispered, ordering the teenage girl. "Nisa eat this! You hear me!! Nisa!! Everything will be alright soon. Swallow it."

The blonde teenage girl bleeding on the ground weakly complained. Yet, nevertheless, she listened to Kyra as she managed to swallow it.

To Kyra's delight and amazement, she saw a faint gentle yellow light cover-up Nisa's body, especially around the open wound. She could slowly see the loose flesh heal on its own, now visible to the naked eye. The faint gentle yellow light flickered as that of a firefly.

'Too slow, maybe she needs another one. Should I feed her another one? They wouldn't have overdoses among magic fruits like medicines right?'

Thinking so, Kyra was contemplating on whether to feed the weak Nisa another one, whose breathing had slowly become stable. Even though the blonde-teenage girl's eyes were closed, her body had stopped twitching thankfully by now and was also warm to the touch.

The middle-aged man who was stunned momentarily earlier jerked his face up, and upon noticing the faint-yellow light spread behind Kyra as she hid the girls out of his sight, he bellowed furiously,

"How dare you!"

Kyra gave a start as she was startled and turned her body towards him out of instinct.

As she turned sideways, it was then that he saw Nisa's body that seemed to have a similar glow. It didn't take him long to figure out what was going on! The young woman had already fed the fruit to her companion

"You dare to act presumptuously right in front of this lord!?" the man angry bellowed as he realized what was going on.

His heart bled in anger, and he couldn't wait to tear them into pieces.

Right from the start, with his experience, he'd long seen through Kyra and realized she was no witch and of no threat to him, which is why he let his guard down for a few moments. That was a mistake.

Just a few seconds ago, he was stunned as one of the ends of his spear whip shattered in front of his eyes. He even noticed the rest of the wooden vine connected to his wrist seemed to be slowly draining out his vitality. He had to immediately retract his spell and deal with it. Hence he'd ignored Kyra for a few seconds without hurry when he realized she didn't plan on running away.

As he amputated the seemingly cursed wood from his wrist and regenerated back his palm while recovering his strength simultaneously, it was then he'd caught the familiar aroma of the Kitthale fruit in the air.

But now, this seemingly ordinary woman who was nothing more apart from her beauty had just wasted a precious Kitthale fruit!

The nerves of the shrew! Twenty years! They had to wait for twenty years to manage to harvest just one Kitthale fruit from the tree with difficulty for the spirit tree never gave out more.

For thirty years, his family and the Dartwood city's council protected the tree and area, and now he'd just witnessed it being wasted! How could he explain it to the others? His blood boiled in fury.

But he couldn't figure out something that bothered him. How did the dark witches even find out about this location and arrive to harvest it in time? Since it was a closely guarded secret that only a handful of spirit witches knew apart from them!

Forget the treasure's value; if the elders and citizens city found out, he would be criticized severely for it, questioning his leadership.

But that part came later. For now, he had to kill the wretch in front of him at any cost. And he would surely make it a painful death!

"I hope you've bid each other your goodbyes, though it is obvious you'll find each other in hell anyways. Now, die!!"
