The Only Delicacy

The next day, Scarlet went to school like always and arrived on time. However, right when she had entered the classroom, she noticed that the whole classroom became quiet and that her classmates were staring at her oddly again.

Was it her imagination that she was seeing some sort of sparkle in their eyes?

Hmm, eyes could not have any sparkle in them. Just how did she come up with that kind of conclusion?

Since them staring at her caused no harm, Scarlet just ignored it while thinking that it did not have anything to do with her at all or that they were thinking of some amusing or embarrassing things that involved her. It was not unusual for people to stare at her, more like an everyday thing.

However, even if she had tried her best to ignore it, just why were they staring at her like that literally every day?

Every morning, Scarlet had to frequently bear with their odd and sparkly eyes that it was literally hard for her to ignore it. She stared outside the window like always, but not to just daze out or avoid Kyle's serious stare. It was to escape from their heavy gazes.

She pondered, 'Just why are they staring at me like the way Kyle does? Moreover, why are they doing it every single day? No, wait… At least Kyle does not have sparkly eyes.'

"Pfft." Without realizing it, Scarlet softly chuckled as she stared out the window. When she thought of adding some sparkle in that stare of her serious and intimidating seatmate, she could not help but chuckle.

That chuckle was very soft, but it was one of the most beautiful things they had ever heard and seen. Her voice was light and lovely like an angel's.

Furthermore, paired with such an enchanting smile, every student in the classroom could not help their hearts from beating rapidly and their faces from blushing, most especially Kyle.

Of course, the culprit, Scarlet, had never realized what she had done to the classroom again for she was still lost in her amusing thoughts.

As soon as break time arrived, whether snacks or lunch, Scarlet noticed that her new friend, Kevin, kept visiting her classroom without fail. At first, she thought that he was here to keep in contact with his brother.

But now, maybe she was wrong, because the first thing he did once he had entered the classroom was to look for her and say, "Hey, Li!"

After that energetic and dazzling greeting, Kevin would immediately hug her without consent, making her even more flustered at how kind and close he was treating her. Scarlet did not know how to react, so she was fully crushed in his excited and loving embrace.

Right then, her seatmate, Kyle, had developed the habit to always push his brother away or block him whenever he visited the classroom.

Was it her imagination that she felt some spark between the two ever since that day?

First, a sparkle. Now, a spark? What more?

As she thought deeply, Scarlet never realized that her classmates were staring at her with even more sparkling eyes and expectant faces.

Some did not even bother to blink at all, for what they saw before them was too golden that it would be a waste to miss even one second of it.

Furthermore, not only did he always visit, Kevin also bought her food during the time she had forgotten to bring her bento or snacks. Moreover, that whole expensive meal was always for free.

Of course, at first, Scarlet was very grateful to him for caring about her. They were good friends, indeed.

Her stomach was too hungry that it was amazing how she, who was a frugal and price-conscious person, had never noticed how expensive that meal was.

Hence, when he had first given her food, Scarlet wholeheartedly said, 'Thank you.'

When she had said that, Scarlet never noticed the small blush on the twin's cheeks.

She also never even realized just how captivating she looked in their eyes when she had sincerely smiled at them.

Right at that moment, everything changed.

Every break time, the twins would always compete to place food on her table, whether she had asked for it or not and whether she had brought or had forgotten to bring her own.

At first, she was very thankful and wholeheartedly said her gratitude to not only Kevin, but Kyle as well.

But as time passed by, she could not help but wonder why they kept doing this. Not only that, she felt bloated! Her stomach hurt from all that food.

Of course, Scarlet was still grateful to them despite her stomach hurting. Because of how limited her budget was, she was not used to eating so much. Still, she had saved a lot of money because of them.

However, her conscience started to reprimand her for taking advantage of them and giving nothing back in return. Needless to say, she had finally realized how expensive those meals were, because her full stomach threw away the hunger that had blinded her all this while.

Moreover, she had shamelessly eaten that for how many days!

Even merely watching them place those two meals in her table had made her stomach and her wallet hurt very much!

One time when they each brought her food for an nth time, Scarlet immediately and anxiously said, "Thank you, but please have it. It's only right because the both of you had used your own money to buy it."

However, contrary to her expectations, Kevin softly chuckled and felt elated at how caring his beloved was. He was in a very good mood.

Hence, he smoothly replied with a very dazzling and tender smile, "No, Li. I bought this meal for you, because it's a responsibility that I'm happy to fulfill. Please, have it and eat it to your heart's content! If you need more, don't hesitate to ask."

Of course, Kevin did not forget to give her a flirtatious wink after the very last sentence.

Meanwhile, Kevin's thoughts on the other hand were different, 'Yes, for that captivating smile and for your simple word of thanks, I would do anything. Absolutely anything.'

When he realized how shady his thoughts were, Kevin secretly laughed at himself.

How did he become like this? When did he become so childish that he would force his beloved some food for his own ulterior motive?

'Oh well, love was never logical to begin with,' was his conclusion to calm his chaotic mind.

Kyle also nodded seriously in return and approved of his brother's answer.

In his mind, he thought, 'Yes, why should I not buy you a meal? That smile and thanks were worth more than a simple meal. Actually, logically speaking, wasn't it like I received even more than what I gave? As a future businessman, how could I not make use of this golden opportunity?'

Right then, Kyle immediately shook his head mentally and sighed, 'No, that food was for her health. It's also because I care about her. Just what am I thinking?'

Like his brother, Kyle had also just realized his ulterior motives and concluded that he was not a good man. But, it did not matter.

As long as he could have her, he would use all possible means, even the impossible ones.

Without realizing the ulterior motives plainly written on their faces, Scarlet did not give up and promptly replied, "I have my own lunch box, see? So, it's fine if you take it."

If she gave up now, her conscience would definitely reprimand her until the day she died.

Scarlet got the wrapped meal and handed it back to Kevin.

Meanwhile, Kevin handed it back to her and said, "I told you, it's alright! Eat it, Li."

"No, it's okay. You can have it." Scarlet promptly replied again and passed it back to Kevin.

She wanted them to have it, because every time she ate the food they gave her, they would seriously stare at her until the end, leaving her with no choice but to finish every last bite.

Logically speaking, when would they have the time to eat their own lunch if they just kept staring at her for the whole break? Were these twins aliens or something?

Because of that thought, Scarlet strengthened her resolve and strongly stared at Kevin, showing that her decision was absolute.

"I already gave it to you, Li. Take it."Kevin hastily passed it back to her again.

"You take it." Scarlet promptly replied.

"It's a gift from me to you." Kevin sweetly smiled as he stated that fact.

"You also need to eat." Scarlet knitted her brows and answered logically. Why won't he just take it?

"You also, Li." Kevin softly chuckled and became elated once more at how observant and caring his beloved was for his health.

"Well then, consider it a gift I gift back to you."Scarlet played with his words and used it to her advantage.

From other people's perspectives, they would see a handsome man and beautiful woman passing back a wrapped meal again and again, as if they were teammates playing basketball or as if that meal was poisoned.

Moreover, another similar handsome man just stared at them with interest and amusement, as if he was the referee watching over the game.

However, after several minutes, Kyle got tired of watching his brother hogging all the attention of his beloved to himself.

Kyle could clearly see the enjoyment plainly written on his face, making him irritated to the bone. Hence, Kyle immediately stole that wrapped meal away from their tight clutches and hid it behind his back so they could not steal it away.

In return, Scarlet and Kevin stared back at Kyle with one confused and one irritated glance.

Kyle slightly nodded to his beloved and openly ignored his brother's anger.

Kyle swiftly snatched his beloved's lunch box and handed the wrapped meal back to her, making his beloved even more confused than before.

"Take this meal and I'll take this in return. There should be no more complaints, right?" Kyle answered back in a very serious manner, as if he was handling a deal that would cost him his death.

"..." Scarlet immediately was taken aback and stunned in her place. Indeed, she could not refute such a logical reason of a genius.

What more could she say?

When his beloved was frozen into place, Kyle used that opportunity to place the meal into her frozen hand, sat down beside her, and ate her lunch box to his heart's content.

Kyle was obviously not one bit guilty for taking advantage of this moment.

Meanwhile, Kevin clenched his fists and revealed a very dazzling smile towards his brother.

Kevin clearly saw his brother switching the meal he had snatched to the meal he had personally bought as he had shamelessly given it to her with a straight face.

Furthermore, his brother had the guts to eat her handmade bento in front of him!

How he would love to punch his brother until his face became entirely deformed that he could no longer be called a human. Unfortunately, Kevin was not foolish or stupid enough to do that. If he had the power to bend the law, he would.

Kevin evilly thought and inwardly snickered, 'Why not? You asked for it, bro.'

Meanwhile, Scarlet seriously stared at the wrapped meal and became lost in her thoughts again.

When she stared at it, Scarlet never noticed that the meal was different from the one a while ago.

She only thought, 'Why were they taking care of me so much? What would they even gain from doing this?'

Hence, Scarlet just sat down and obediently ate the meal, for she realized that all her arguments were useless towards these two geniuses. She was still not familiar at how friends interacted, but she had to do her part.

As she ate, Scarlet never realized the tremendous sparks these brothers were exchanging.

She also never realized several surrounding students who were unfortunately paralyzed from being hit by their invisible sparks.

Sadly, those victims had never knew what had hit them.

When Kyle was about to place that food in his mouth, Kevin immediately swallowed the contents from the spoon.

As he chewed, Kevin looked at his brother in a mocking gaze and smiled smugly as if he was saying, 'Serves you right.'

However, before Kyle could secretly punch out the food going down to his stomach, Kevin's eyes glittered like stars in the sky and his whole expression seemed like he had just landed in heaven.

At this moment, Kevin had already thrown away the thoughts of exacting revenge against his brother, because right now, he was filled with great gratitude.

That gratitude was great enough to the extent that his brother's thoughtless and underhanded scheme seemed like a genius plan to him!

Seeing his brother's heavenly expression, Kyle forgot about his brother's mischief, wiped the spoon with a clean tissue, and immediately ate the contents of the bento.

Right then and there, Kyle's own blank and slightly angry facade gave away as his eyes revealed the same glitter and heavenly appeal that was exactly like his brother's.

This tasted way too damn good!

After tasting something so delicious, the brothers finally felt the hunger in their stomachs and heartily ate every single bite while unconsciously abandoning their elegance and self-image for this one cheap meal.

They neither cared about food nor their hunger. They just treated their meals made by the chefs as some sort of responsibility for their health, so they never really enjoyed it.

But from just a single taste of their beloved's meal, they would for sure change this one aspect of their lives entirely.

When the students saw the twins eating that bento like starved wolves, they too instinctively drooled and gulped as they deeply stared at the bento's contents.

It was a simple homemade meal. But from the twin's expressions, they knew that the taste was like no other, because they had entirely changed from just a single bite.

All of the boys were jealous; all of the girls were on cloud nine.

"HAHAHAHHA, dimwits! HAHAHHAH! Ouch, my stomach! HAHHAHAH!"

On the other hand, the baby cupid Alfred was laughing his head off at the amusing scene before him.

He too was slightly jealous that he could not taste his assignment's meal. However, once he saw the twin's childish actions, he laughed out with so much glee, to the point that he had temporarily forgotten his past grudges against them.

Their messy way of eating was engraved entirely to the baby cupid's mind.

Meanwhile, when Scarlet ate the luxurious food given to her, her conscience reprimanded her non-stop.

As expected, their food tasted very delicious. For her, it was way better than her homemade meal, so she did not understand why they would want to exchange this expensive meal for something so cheap. Scarlet had no way to repay them back anymore, for her debt kept accumulating until it became too big.

Hence, Scarlet wisely decided to keep her mouth shut and just pay them back once the opportunity arose.

On the next day, Amanda started visiting her classroom every break time, just like Kevin. Accurately speaking, she arrived exactly at the time Kevin did.

Were they close?

When she thought of that, Scarlet felt something inside her hurt.

Huh, what made her feel this way? Why was she feeling like this?

Every time that girl would visit, Scarlet never noticed the dark aura emanating from these twins. She also did not realize how they would block her from Amanda, as if they were knights protecting a princess from a witch.

No, that statement was wrong. Not, 'as if,' but, 'literally.'

They were literally knights protecting their beloved from a two-faced witch.

When she had noticed how protective her dear darlings were of that trash, Amanda silently gritted her teeth.

Every time she visited and was forced to greet that trash for appearance's sake, how could she not notice that her dear darlings were ignoring the beautiful her as if she was not even there? As if she was not even human?

That trash was being treated like a princess, but the princess was being treated like a trash! How unfair! That went beyond human reasoning!

Amanda had to open their eyes to reality and throw that trash away before that trash could dirty her dear darlings!

As time passed by, Amanda and Kevin kept visiting her classroom as if it was the most natural thing to do.

Every time she would receive their so-called, 'gift,' Scarlet started developing the habit of giving her handmade lunchbox in return without realizing it. She also never realized the excited and expectant gazes of the twins.

No matter how many times they had fought over her attention, they would always come to a truce once they ate her homemade bento. Afterwards, they would resume their battle.

However, that was not all.

All of them had never once noticed Amanda's face growing uglier day by day, except for the baby cupid who was cautiously watching her every move.
