The Other World Dining Hall
Croquet
There were four heroes on the eastern continent.
Leonardo, a saint proud of the Temple of Light, loved and sheltered more than anyone by the God of Light in what inhabits the Eastern Continent.
King One, No, Genius, the highest user of witchcraft among humans in the whole world. Altrius the Great Sage.
Alexander the Sword God, the son of a sword who continued to spend the majority of the long life span that a half elf has on the battlefield and even defeated the Demon King with one sword.
... and the talent of witchcraft comparable to Artrius and the skill of Samurai Swords passed on to Alexander and the other West, and as deep as Leonardo, love from the Dark Goddess.
Yomi, a hero who used them all to put an end to the battle against evil demons that had never ended for hundreds of years, and in exchange for his life defeated the evil gods that the Demon King had drawn from deep chaos to this world.
With these four actives the wicked demon tribe declined with remarkable loss of its power, and the time of the peaceful humans came on the eastern continent.
That is what happened nearly 70 years ago now.
The last three surviving heroes, except Yomi, who lost his life with the Evil God.
They were on their own path.
As Pope bound the followers of the Temple of Light, Leonardo accomplished a feat that could not be overridden by anyone.
Altrius is that genius brainchild, as a great sage who developed so much magic in the history of the continent.
... and Alexander as a legendary mercenary traveling from journey to journey in an incessant battlefield.
A legendary swordsman who travels freely as if he were a halfling, beating demons and bandits at times.
It was on a certain winter's day that he visited the King's capital and asked under his old friends.
"Alec, I didn't know you were going to ask... you look better than ever."
On that day, the great sage Altrius was truly pleased to reunite with Alexander for the first time in decades.
"Yeah. Al just wants to say that he hasn't changed... but you're old after all. Totally jizzy."
Alexander says to Altrius without clothing his teeth.
70 years after that battle.
The young genius magician, who used to look neat enough to compare to himself, had become an old man, lean and likely to break even now, like a dead tree.
"... you're really the same, you are"
Yes, it was. Alec was this kind of guy to you who was already over 70 back then, and he used to argue with himself and Leon when he was younger.
I even miss that now that I remember it, and now I'm not even angry.
... I'm sure that means' old '.
"So, what can I do for you today? There's more to this than you coming to see a man, isn't there?
Reconscious, Altrius asks Alexander.
When we were traveling together, this man in front of us, who used to brazenly say 'I've had a real princess before', would never come unless he had something to do with it, although he wouldn't bother to work hard if he were to dictate a woman.
That should probably still be the same after 70 years.
"... yeah. You're still fast and helpful."
Alexander tells him why he bothered to come all the way to the King's Capital, while making sure that even if he looks dead, his head is still active.
"Actually... I'd like to go to a guy named Dining Room in another world. I need to try something."
From halflings and fellow adventurers, I only heard rumors.
It's about a dining room in a strange different world that only appears once every seven days and the delicious different world dishes served there.
And there, whenever I go, there is a mage's grandfather like a dead tree... that there is a great sage even said to be a living legend.
"... I see"
Altrius is also convinced by Alexander's words.
I don't think I've seen Alexander in another world cafeteria in the last 30 years.
And the first thing Altrius definitely doesn't know is that Alexander has never been to another world cafeteria.
"If that's the case, I'll show you... tomorrow evening."
A former friend... it's also a favor from a warrior who defended his back at the risk of his life.
Altrius agrees... with his brains in front of him to make a quick fix.
"Evening? Why?
To the words, Altrius answers Alexander, who inquires in wonder.
"... um. I don't think it's going to be easy for me to meet you. Wait till they get home."
That's what I answer, two regular people came to Altrius' mind.
Anyway, if the lady lover in front of you is a strange apprentice, if you dictate the princess of the empire, it could be a duel noise with an exotic prince, and I've heard demonic gladiators with lion heads have fallen for swordsmen by losing to this guy.
That's an important store for Altrius, too.
I didn't want to make any extra noise.
And evening.
Using a magic formation carved into Altrius' lab, the two knock on the door.
Chillin 'chillin' and a light bell sound, the two of them in different worlds.
"Welcome... Oh, I thought you weren't coming today anymore"
The shopkeeper looks at Altrius and says unexpectedly.
As far as shopkeepers know, the most ancient stock of customers in different worlds, the regulars, will either come roughly by noon or not by the end.
It's rare to show up when the sun goes down like this one.
"No what. I've got company today."
I just coughed up one with Cohon, and Alexander greets me where I was from morning to evening, faintly smelling the perfume of a woman.
"Yo! That's you! What kind of cook is he? What if... what if I were to call you a bastard? Anyway, say hello!
"Ha, ha. Best regards,"
Suddenly, perplexed by a light greeting, the shopkeeper bows his head with a pepper.
"... remains, well, not a bad guy. Do me a favor."
Altrius takes it as an inner cold sweat on Alexander's Nori like that.
"It's okay. If you're a young kid, you should be as healthy as this... hey, what about the menu?
Never thought the boy in front of him was much twice Altrius' age, and the shopkeeper asks Altrius for his order.
If it were always, I wouldn't bother asking.
The usual loin cuts and beer.
Because that's all that matters.
But this time I have company.
It's the first face I've ever seen, a guest of another world. I don't know what I prefer.
"Oh, I wish I was always..."
"Give me the croquette. And the drinks are just like this old man."
Where Altrius had the same question, Alexander answers clearly.
"... speaking of which, you. You said you wanted something to eat."
To that unmistakable attitude, Altrius recalls Alexander saying that yesterday.
Croquet.
A memorable dish that a regular, now deceased, didn't give way to saying it was the best dish in this store fried food.
Rumors of the wind say the empire was invented by its regulars or something, and I've heard there's a dish out there named Croquet.
(I see. Are you looking for a different world croquette…)
Artrius is then convinced.
To the best of Altrius' knowledge, Alexander was a man of enough curiosity to suppose that he might be a matchmaker with a halfling, not an elf.
I guess that curiosity made him ask for a croquette he hadn't seen yet.
"Okay. Croquettes and loin cutlets, right? Then take your time."
The store owner also listens to the order and nods, returning to the kitchen.
"... well. Over here."
While dropping it off, Altrius guides Alexander to his usual seat.
"... oops"
In contrast to Altrius like that, Alexander sits' on guard 'over there.
"What's wrong? Something to worry about."
"Oh."
To that word, Alexander finds out that even Altrius' hasn't noticed, 'he says, as he becomes more and more alert.
"... hey. The elf woman sitting over there, she sucks, right?
…… Oh, my God, he was here again. "
To the words Altrius unexpectedly follows Alexander's gaze.
There he is.
At the end of Alexander's gaze was an elf of a woman dressed in black in a different world style, sitting securely in a corner seat.
... it's so faint that when I first came, I couldn't even feel the signs of 'Curry Rice', a warrior in the war.
Perhaps if it weren't for Alexander, you wouldn't even have noticed.
……
The girl didn't speak a word, she was just moving her hands around like an ancient magic device or something and eating rice and curry soup.
... I guess I speak directly to the spirit to see the Devil's Service suddenly reply to the girl and bring the curry again every time the plate is emptied.
"Yeah. That one sucks. It's something you should never turn to an enemy..."
Alexander, who has spent more than 100 years on the battlefield but has a sharp idea of the late, says with a faint cold sweat.
He was precisely aware. He said that he was an inappropriate person even if he stood upside down.
"Oh, I guess"
Altrius also agrees with Alexander's words.
Altrius also knows from when he saw what that thing did seven days ago.
That's something we should never turn to our enemies... perhaps more than the evil gods we defeated with our lives.
"Thank you for waiting. Croquettes and loin cutlets. And it's raw beer."
I could have been happy if I hadn't noticed. It was the voice of the shopkeeper who broke the heavy silence caused by realizing it.
The freshly fried roast cutlets and croquettes arranged on top of green leafy vegetables are served on top of a basin brought to you by the shopkeeper with a golden beer.
"... okay. Do you want to eat?"
"Oh, yeah, you are. Yeah, it looks delicious, and croquettes from different worlds."
Using that delicious look, the two gently decided to forget about it that they had seen earlier.
He's just a being if he doesn't take a little bit of it badly, and he doesn't care about the fine dust over there or about this one.
In fact, Alexander and Altrius are the only ones who realize that there are customers out there, except for the store owner and his daughter.
And Alexander finally faces it.
"Heh... this is the real croquette guy"
Placed in front of Alexander is an oval-shaped, flour-coloured croquette.
It still seems to be freshly fried, smells like fragrant oil, and makes a faint noise of oil exploding.
"Quickly..."
Drinking his saggy spit on that croquet, Alexander takes the knife and fork and cuts off the edge of the croquet.
Sakuri, the croquette hangs up after leaving a creepy feeling.
What you can see from the incision is white danshak fruit, mixed with fine brown things.
The bright bright brown and white contrast is vivid, and Alexander accidentally sips and carries it to his mouth.
What spreads in your mouth is the flavour of spices and salt, flavoured with just a little butter, with a hint of sweet danshak fruit and a fragrant garment with no odor and good quality oil.
The brown one, which was just a little mixed in, was apparently meat, from which the fat of the meat is stained to enhance the flavour of the croquette.
(... yeah. I knew it was something else. This)
To that taste more than expected, Alexander sprinkles the oil in his mouth with a golden beer to break his face.
Alexander's knowledge, the 'croquette' of the Empire, is a dish that is crushed and fried in oil with flour wrapped around clothes dissolved in water, rounded with danshak fruit mixed with salt.
It tastes like ordinary people, mainly eaten in stalls and such.
That's good for freshly fried up under a cold winter sky with that, but this was something else.
(I wonder if you can also see that he was detained on purpose)
Alexander turns his mind to the flavor of croquettes that collapse in his mouth every time he carries them to his mouth.
Alexander's attempt to eat croquettes in a different world cafeteria in the first place was a story he heard from a middle-aged halfling he happened to know.
In the booze seat, told as a laughing tale, the story of one man now dead that he loved 'Croquet' so much in a different world dining room.
The halfling said with a laugh. 'It's about croquettes that built one big castle in a place with doors, so to speak,' he said.
I noticed it in those words. to the identity of a man who was called Croquet.
... That's why Alexander traveled all the way to the kingdom and relied on his former comrades to visit this place.
"I don't know, Alec. The sauce is your life, Croquet."
With that in mind, I think I should ask for the next one, and Altrius says it like it's out there.
"Source?"
"Uhm. Different world dishes, things that are never essential for fried food...... this is it"
Saying that to Alexander, who tilts his neck at words he can't hear, Altrius gives him a red bottle.
"Hang that up. It's an essential flavor for this store's fried food."
I laugh while I'm good.
There is an intense rival called tartar sauce for fried seafood, but sauce is essential for other fries.
"Oh well. Soya......"
Alexander nods at Altrius' words and tilts the bottle.
Thickening out of a pottery bottle is a slightly browned, black juice.
That slowly leans out of the mouth of the bottle and creates a brown stain on the croquette's clothes.
Alexander once again spoke of a brown stained croquette...
"... I see. Sure would be a big difference without this."
Nod loudly at its flavor.
Vinegar-like acidity is central, but not just that, salty, spicy, just a little, sweet complex flavor juice.
That alone makes the flavour too strong a miraculous balance and spreads in the mouth at a moment when it is mixed with the ingredients of the fried food and the taste of the oil of the clothes.
(I see... croquettes are what you eat with sauce on them)
I realize that as I puff up the croquette that smudged the sauce.
The croquette was delicious even on its own, but when the sauce was applied, it tasted special.
At least Alexander prefers this one.
"That's a shame. At least you can't get this guy in the world of the guys, can you?
"Mm-hmm. Yomi's guy said that, too. I don't think we can make this world sauce yet."
Answer Alexander's query in a good mood.
... and then, to tell your former comrades what's important.
"... Yomi?
As soon as he heard the name, Alexander accidentally stops eating croquettes.
It is surprising to dwell in those eyes that take Altrius seriously by accident.
Why does the name come up now?
Yes, my eyes were asking.
"Oh, you're Yomi's guy... he's alive"
Comfortably surprised by such a former comrade, Altrius is reunited about 30 years ago now...
Remember the day you first visited this store and answer.
"Oh, anything. At that time, 70 years ago, he was flown to this other world because of the outrage of the evil gods.
By the time I met him, he was already a full dweller of this world... and he said he had grandchildren in this world. "
I look at the shop owner coming and going to the kitchen and dining room looking busy, and I say.
"... Could it be that the shopkeeper here is Yomi's grandson? It doesn't look like you can use swords or magic."
That alone, Alexander, who is well perceived, understands the meaning of Altrius' words and then raises questions.
I saw it earlier, the owner of this store.
The cooking arm would be good considering the flavor of the sauced croquette I was eating earlier, but the way you muscle is not a warrior's, and the magic is weak.
No matter how you look at it, you just looked like a cook, and I didn't think you were Yomi's grandson, who was a genius at both swords and magic.
"That's right. I guess swords and magic don't do anything in this world. There's no way I'm gonna teach you."
Altrius laughs bitterly at the words of such a friend.
When we met again that day, Yomi was telling the truth.
- I don't need a sword or magic over here, but I just want you to inherit your cooking arm.
The word became a reality. Yomi's grandson...... the owner of this shop will not be able to handle swords or magic at all, but only the culinary arm is heavenly.
"That's why Yomi seems to have been having fun over here at Yomi."
Yomi's smile when she reunited about 30 years ago now is natural... when we were once traveling together, all I could think about was killing the Demons, and the emptiness like the Dragon Tooth Soldier left no fine dust.
Altrius felt great joy and just a little loneliness in his former companionship as if he had changed as if he were a 'normal human'.
"Oh well... Yomi was having a lot of fun too..."
Alexander, who was asked about it, also learned relief, as did Altrius.
That 'I was made to destroy the Demon King', he said in his true face, only Yomi knew to kill the Demon Nation.
The last time I defeated the evil god called by the Demon King, he disappeared from the world without knowing anything funny or anything... an important companion who thought so.
It was good news that it survived and lived happily in different worlds.
"Oh well... okay, shall we drink? It means Yomi's alive to celebrate."
"Right. Thanks for accepting Yomi in this world, dude... sorry store owner. Add loin cutlets and croquettes."
Altrius also nods at Alexander's suggestion.
And the two continued to drink each dish unto Athens till late at night.
And the day after the two of them visited a different world cafeteria.
"Well, you've taken care of a lot. Thanks."
"Oh, you should come back and see me sometime. Anyway, it's Doyo Day."
Having cleaned up what had bothered him for years, and finally learning the unexpected good news, Alexander decided to embark on a journey again.
Decide where you want to go as you like with the wind.
That was Alexander's way.
"Well, let's just say I'm going to visit Addy and his son's grave. When I think about it, I've never been to a place like this before."
Just a little thought, Alexander lightly decides where to go on his next journey.
The place to go is Teito.
So let's go pray even at the peace of our former lover and son, who sleeps in one of the most luxurious spiritual temples on this continent, which has not only become one of the symbols of the imperial capital.
When I was younger, I said, 'I don't have any more fathers. My son would hate to hear that my mother Ardelheid was the only parent for the rest of us', but not now.
I'll also tell you that my son finally ate a croquette over there that he loved more than anything else in that store.
(He's a son who died sooner than Nana, his father, and that's about as good as it sounds)
Alexander travels with that in mind.
Ever since I let them escape from the Old Empire with the help of my friends that day, I've finally never had a face to face, to meet my former lover and his son.
