The Prince Of Magic

Chapter 147 - Place de Furstemberg

As planned, Astolfo went first.

The pink haired knight was so excited; he grabbed too much floo powder and made a bit of a mess by the fireplace.

The excess floo powder exploded beneath his feet, causing a bit of smoke to scatter throughout the room and ushering a round of coughs from them all.

"Ugh... that dumbass." Kieran muttered in between coughs.

"Hope pinky's fine on the other side." Yan Qing mused aloud.

"Hey, don't jinx it, Yan." Charles said with a sigh.

"C'mon, guys, let's get a move on." Arash ushered.

Kieran went in second.

The amber eyed retainer looked at the fireplace with a small frown on his face, clearly hesitant.

But, after some encouragement from Hadrian and the others, the retainer followed the pink haired knight's actions and disappeared after announcing his destination in a bright flash of green fire.

Yan Qing followed after him, Arash next and then Charles.

Hadrian had decided to go last since he wanted to make sure all of his retainers went to the floo and to also make sure nothing went wrong.

Few minutes earlier, he had tagged each of his retainers with the automaton's help in the case they get transported into a different location than where they had intended.

According to the Flamel couple, the floo would generally work without issue. But, sometimes, the floo would exhibit an issue every now and then, mostly coming from the floo network.

And now, it was Hadrian's turn.

With a sigh, he grabbed a small handful of floo powder from the pouch before stepping inside the fireplace.

Glancing to his lower left side, his gaze met the eyes of his familiars, who happened to look up at him at the same time he did.

"Kyu…"

"Fouuu…"

The two familiars cooed, giving feelings of comfort to sooth any little worries he might have through the familiar bond.

When Hadrian sensed it, he smiled down at them.

"Hold on, you two." The young mage said.

After making sure the two had taken his advice, Hadrian straightened his posture in an upright position, squaring his shoulders as he prepared himself.

With one hand on the side of the satchel (to ensure his familiars would not be jostled by the magical travel too much), he announced the name of his intended location.

"Place de Furstemberg!"

He then threw the powder at his feet and his vision was engulfed in green fire.

Quickly remembering Penerelle's advice during floo travel, Hadrian closed his eyes to prevent himself from experiencing mild nausea.

From what he was told, travelling via floo was a quick process, but some wizards and witches would experience a mild case of nausea due to some reason or another.

In his case, Hadrian would mostly likely experience it due to his photographic memory. Even if the floo travel was mere seconds, his brain would not help but process the things that he would see during his time within the floo network.

To avoid that, Hadrian was advised to close his eyes during floo travel.

But he did not expect to be pushed out when he felt his feet finally landed on solid ground.

Snapping his eyes open, Hadrian stumbled out of the floo portal, surprised and rendered out of balance.

"Whoa there!"

"Ah!"

Fortunately, just before his face could meet the gray floor, two pairs of hands appeared underneath and took hold of each of his arms.

Looking up, Hadrian saw the amused faces of Yan Qing and Charles.

"You alright, master?" Charles asked, smiling.

Hadrian sighed, allowing the two retainers pull him up on his feet properly before they let go of him.

He quickly glanced over to his familiars to see if they were fine, and they are as he saw them poking their heads out of the gap of the satchel's, cooing in wonder and amazement as they took in their new surroundings. Curious himself, Hadrian took in the new area he had arrived to.

It was a large building filled with moving bodies. Everywhere he looked, there were people dressed in robes, hats and business suits. There were some exceptions here and there, but it was obvious that they were all witches and wizards, given their magical signatures.

There were other races that could be seen mingling in the crowd as well, such as small people with long noses and sharp pointed ears.

Goblins, he recalled from one of the books in the Flamel's library.

Hadrian stilled, however, when he noticed a pair of suspiciously pale-skinned individuals from a distance.

They were speaking to each other amicably as they stood in the corner, blissfully unaware of his calculating gaze upon them.

The reason for Hadrian's stare was that he had seen a small glint of a fang from the two, protruding slightly from their upper lips whenever they opened their mouths to speak.

It was obvious what they are, vampires.

But, unlike what he would often do, Hadrian didn't move from his spot.

They were vampires, but the people that were around them didn't pay them any mind other than a passing glance as they moved along.

In his world, people that were turned by Dead Apostles were usually killed on site, especially by the members of the Church.

Here, it seemed that magical people were more lax and accepting of vampires, which Hadrian found a bit strange.

Realizing that he was being wary for nothing, Hadrian relaxed before he looked himself over, if not to distract himself from his thoughts.

"I'm fine." Hadrian said after a moment, brushing his clothes as he looked around. "Is everyone here?"

"Yeah." Yan Qing answered, nodding his head to the left. "Pinky almost wandered off, but Kieran held him in place."

"Well, there is that." Charles chuckled weakly.

Following the phantom assassin's gaze, Hadrian saw Arash, Kieran, and Astolfo standing a few feet away from them.

Well, one was standing, while the latter two were arguing with one another.

Hadrian sighed again, scratching the back of his head as he and the two servants beside him watched Kieran gripped the back of Astolfo's coat with one hand.

"Ah, c'mon! Just a peek! It'll be quick, really!" Astolfo whined as he tried to run further ahead.

"No! Sit your ass down here! Didn't master told you to wait for all of us?" Kieran argued, gritting his teeth.

"Yeah, but there's something interesting over there! Don't you wanna see it?"

"Hell no, you ass!"

"Why not?!"

"Why the hell would I wanna go in a clothing store for women with YOU! OF ALL PEOPLE!" Kieran countered, incredulous and annoyed.

"Hey! I take offense to that! I'm the cutest than all of the girls you would probably ever be with in your dreams!" Astolfo declared proudly, puffing up his chest.

"You little!"

Arash chuckled, hands behind his head.

"Ah, you guys sure get along nicely!"

""LIKE HELL WE ARE!""

Noticing that there was a small crowd gathering around the three retainers, Hadrian blew out a sigh before he turned to Charles and Yan Qing.

"C'mon, you two. Those three are getting quite the attention, which is the last thing we need right now." Hadrian urged, muttering the last part under his breath.

The two servants merely chuckled as they trailed after their master.
