The Queen Wicked Deeds

Chapter 146 - Who are you

"Who are you?"

Maya was tired. She was more than tired, she was exhausted. That morning, she would have to take the bus, then the subway, then the bus again, if the plans would go according to her plans. But, even with all her effort, she failed to get inside the Academy's gates in time.

"I am a new student here, my name is Maya Summers."

The guard at the entrance looked at her with narrowed eyes. "Are you joking with me? The school year had already started, and no students can come inside at this time of the year."

"I am not joking, look here, sir," she gave the guard a notice. It was a letter from the Academy's Principal. "I was invited by the Principal. The date is also written inside."

The guard read it with a cautious and a bit of skeptic eye. The way the girl was dressed was not in any way the same as those glamorous and arrogant brats that attended the prestigious Academy of Curian City.

Even more, she looked so dirty and with ragged clothes, even him had better clothes than her.

"Uncle, I promise you that I am a new student here," she bit her lips trying to look pitiful, "it is just that I had to travel by public bus… it suddenly stopped working middle way and I had to run here. Then a dog crossed my path, and you know what?"

"… what?"

"He looked at me with those puffy eyes as if he was starving… I needed to help him, and so I gave him some food. Sigh… that was my breakfast… a piece of bread… soft bread that I manage to buy early in the morning. Do you feel my pain, uncle? I didn't get to eat breakfast, and had to run. But that was not the only thing that happened to me…"

She sighed and shook her head. Then she looked up again with a grieving sight.

"Do you guess what can be more unlucky in this town?"

"… what?"

"I looked how an old lady was about to be run over by a bicycle. I had to save her. Then I left my things into the floor and went running towards the old woman that was distracted with the sky. She was looking up as if she was guessing the weather from the clouds. What fascinating, don't you think? I always wanted to try that mysterious art…

Cough

"Oh right, she was very strange, and so the man in the bicycle didn't see her when passing over the tree, but I could see the full scene as I was on the top of the stairs, do you remember those stairs in the park? Then I shoved my things to one side and in a miraculous move of my arm I pulled the old woman to one side and the man passed us without worries… I thought, that was the end… but… sigh… how can I be that unlucky…"

"What happened next?" the old guard was losing his patience. He only wanted to make her shut up, but she kept going and waiting for him to ask.

"My suitcase hit some thugs on the side, how can they have the nerve to appear in the daylight? Don't they just appear at night?"

She frowned. "There must be a new trend going on… well, then they were hit with my suitcase and just when they were about to hit me, I kicked the leader's precious gems… you know what I mean. That face was marvelous. Then I took my things and ran… the fastest and further I could… It was a tremendous effort since I was also carrying my bag, and dragging my suitcase."

"Are you hurt?"

"No, I am fine, thank you, uncle…" then Maya bit her lips again, "but those thugs followed me here… can you see them, uncle?"

"What?!"

"There…" she pointed to the front street. There were three men with ruffian faces. "I am scared, uncle. Can I go inside? I am a scholarship student and didn't have money for a taxi to come to school, and I also have bad luck. Pretty please?"

The man couldn't help but sigh. He understood the struggles of the less favored in the society, and he nodded. "Alright, but the school regulations said that the doors closes at nine in the morning. As this is your first day, I will let you pass, but you have to report to the Housekeeper of your residence. I don't know if she will be as lenient with you."

"Thank you, Uncle," Maya smiled at the man and took her small suitcase and school bag with her.

Meanwhile, the three men smirked in delight. As the old guard was about to call for the other men in the security box, they had already disappeared.

"Did she go inside?" the one in the phone asked. "Is Maya alright?"

"Yes, boss, she went inside safely."

"Did you escort her there?"

"We followed her as you ordered us, however, she did sleep until late last night, and she had to rush at the last minute."

"Did she beg to take her with you?"

"…"

"Rufus?"

"Yes."

"Did you?"

"…"

"Yes."

"What did she give you in exchange?"

"Bread…"

"She stole it from my shop! Damn girl!"

The path to the residences was not difficult to find, because she had a map and a phone and a GPS on her phone. Though, the screen was broken, and her eyes were lazy still, she followed the route.

"Where is the damn Blue Residence?!"

She was lost. Yes, Maya Summers was lost in her first day of school, inside the school, even with the map in her hands, and her phone and the GPS on her phone.

"Who are you?" she heard someone call her from the back.

'Again?' she thought and turned around.

"Hello, I am a new student here, my name is Maya Summers."

Trees and beautiful gardens everywhere. Flowers and benchs to relax everywhere also. Students and teachers everywhere, too. But most importantly, a huge, filled with variety that provided with fuel to the minds of the students, a cafeteria. And also a library not far from there.

However, that stunning cafeteria had the most delicious food, Maya had ever seen in many days in her life.

"How much is the basic menu?"

"Ten silver coins, darling," the kitchen lady said as she watched the little girl in a long wide sweater look at the counter with a saliva coming out from her mouth.

"Can you make it five, lovely lady?"

How shameless! How can this young lady bargain with the kitchen staff as if it was some messy market?

However… the poor looks of the little girl made the old lady heart hurt. She could make an exception for the day, but it had to be in hiding.

"If you can't pay for it, you should get out of the line. We don't have time for poor beggars."

"I am rich!" Maya stood up with her ċhėst puffed up. "The richest in here, if I say."

"What?!"

The boy in expensive clothes, expensive shoes and polished hairstyle almost laughed there.

"I said I am the richest in here, because…" she smirked, "hadn't you heard the saying, 'That man is richest whose pŀėȧsurės are cheapest'? (Henry David Thoreau)

"…"

"Goodness, how shameless," a girl in a fine white dress and golden hair smirked. "

Another student of the Academy. He is the son of the principal. He is in his senior school year, 17 years old, and also considered a genius.

He was asked by his father to look out for Maya, and to help her if it is needed.

He didn't like that, as he was focused on a scholarship for the College in the Capital, and he didn't want to waste time with a hopeless case.

However, as he met her and starts interacting with her, he notices that she is a genius and even more talented than him.

He is jealous at first, but then… he began to grown interest.

They grow a good friendship, and she falls for him. However, he already has a girlfriend, from the same year as her. Joanna Banks, beautiful and talented, also in the top ten, but admired by many, and also a gentle and kind girl.

He had not paid much attention to her lately as he is focused with the studies, but she is understanding and doesn't mind at all. They just reunite to have sometimes sėx and to share kisses. However, she felt dissatisfied because he doesn't want to take her to dates. She starts to grow jealous of Maya because she spends more time with him. Then she starts to plot some schemes to bully Maya, but then… Ethan saves her unexpectedly.
