On the other side, Tang Xi dragged a ghost to show her the way to the headmaster’s office, promising to give some spiritual power as a reward. The male ghost who was a student, happily led the way while blabbering nonstop. He was even more skilled than a tour guide.

Tang Xi’s head was about to explode. She quickly sent away the ghost with a bit of spiritual power once they arrived. This annoying chatterbox almost caused her a headache.

“Are you classmate Tang Xi?” The headmaster is a plump man in his fifties. He showed a kind smile when he saw her, “Your father told me about your situation. You did well in your previous school. I’m sure you’ll have no problem following our lessons here. For now, we can only put you in Class 9 first. Classes will be reassigned according to mid-term results. Do your best; I’m sure you can go to Class 1 after this mid-term exam!”

“Thank you. I will work hard.” Tang Xi nodded obediently. The headmaster was more amicable than she thought. Of course, this was not how the headmaster usually acts with other students. She didn’t know that the headmaster’s caring treatment towards her was only because Tang Zhenying donated a building to the school.

From the headmaster’s point of view, this girl’s grades were average. She couldn’t win any glory for their school, but she also wouldn’t pull down the average score. Considering the Tang family’s face, there’s no problem accepting this student.

*****

The homeroom teacher of Class 9 is a 40-year-old male teacher called Wu Hai who teaches mathematics. He introduced himself before bringing Tang Xi to Class 9.

In this school, everything depends on results. Since Class 1 consists of top students, Class 9 naturally is a gathering place for students with poor results, school bullies, and rich second generations.

Inside Class 9, Wu Hai glanced at the quiet girl who didn’t even bother to introduce herself with some worry. He scanned the classroom twice before telling her, “Tang Xi, go sit down next to Qi Sihui for now.”

In the corner of the third row, a thin girl with black-rimmed glasses raised her hand when she heard the teacher.

Tang Xi strode over without any objection. After sweeping a glance at the classroom, it’s clear that Qi Sihui was the easiest person to get along with in this class. The students around her also looked hardworking and honest.

“Alright, pass down the papers first.”

Tang Xi almost jumped up from her seat when she heard the teacher; her first class was an exam?!

“We have our monthly test today. It’s really unfortunate that you chose this day to transfer schools.” Qi Sihui whispered from the side.

“…” Tang Xi was speechless. She flipped through the paper and froze when she saw the questions.

This is calculus? Calculus is a subject in the third year of high school??!

“The test questions arranged by our teachers are much harder than the college entrance examination questions.” Qi Sihui explained in a low voice when she saw Tang Xi’s expression.

Tang Xi doesn’t even have the energy to shed tears. Her master did hire tutors to teach her the school curriculum in the previous world. However, a person’s energy is limited. After spending more than 80% of her energy on Taoism, her aptitude for those subjects could only be average, especially with physics and chemistry dragging her down.

Her talent was described as ‘hard to come across in a thousand years’ back in her world. But no matter how talented she was, her cultivation reached such a point because of hard work. It was something she obtained using her blood and sweat.

Although her grades wouldn’t be at the bottom, they would not be as good as the original owner. Now that she’s in this elite high school, it might drop even further.

Tang Xi heaved a deep sigh. She stopped her grumbling and looked at the test paper when she saw others scribbling on their papers.

She read the first multiple-choice question carefully… Very good, she didn’t understand a word. (•̩̩̩̩_•̩̩̩̩)

She blindly wrote down C.

“Wrong.” She heard someone muttered from the side.

Tang Xi raised her head and saw a male ghost in a school uniform leaning against her desk. With twisted limbs and a shattered head, it seemed he jumped off a building. She pondered for a while before erasing her answer and writing down D.

“Wrong again.”

…Tang Xi gritted her teeth and changed her answer to B.

“Still wrong.” The male ghost was speechless. There were only four choices in a multiple-choice question. This student only managed to get it right after changing her answer three times… Even a blind person might have better luck than her…

Tang Xi’s eyelid twitched when she saw the male ghost’s expression. She slowly condensed some spiritual power in her left hand. She then abruptly grabbed the male ghost and stuffed him into her pencil case.

Very good, the world is finally quiet.

There’s nothing wrong with not knowing something; she just has to work harder. She has plenty of time to catch up since there are still two months left before the midterm exam. Plus, she doesn’t need to focus all her energy on Taoism again in this life. The most important thing right now is to raise her grades to the original owner’s level first; she didn’t want others to think she got in through the back door.

This ghost who can tell the test answers at a glance must have had good grades when he was alive. Therefore, Tang Xi decided to bring him home and “employ” him as her tutor.
