Cheng Yi relived his past memories of Zheng Jia Ju. He remembered he didn’t want to use Zheng Jia Ju for Fei Yan Niao to kidnap Tan Pan Ting. How happy he was on his and Zheng Jia Ju’s wedding day, and how scared he was Fei Yan Niao would hurt Zheng Jia Ju if he helped Tan Pan Ting escape.

‘If I need permission then it’ll be Tan Yuan’s permission that is important,’ Shen Cheng said.

Shen Cheng couldn’t stand being on the sideline, and watch Gu Jiao Wu hurt Qiao Tan Yuan again and again. If Gu Jiao Wu couldn’t give Qiao Tan Yuan happiness then he wanted to be the man who made Qiao Tan Yuan happy.

‘Tan Yuan wouldn’t agree to be with you,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Shen Cheng, you and Tan Yuan are not compatible.’

Gu Jiao Wu returned to Gu Jiao Mai’s hospital room.

Shen Cheng stood on the same spot looking at his phone. The photo of Qiao Tan Yuan and Xiao Bao was erased. Although he knew Qiao Tan Yuan saw him as a friend, it was hard for him to accept the truth.

A week after Gu Jiao Mai was discharged from the hospital, she was able to take baby steps using crutches. Du Lei Xin visited her every day at the Gu Mansion, but she ignored him.

Chen Ting Yu was moved by Du Lei Xin’s perseverance, and she gave her blessing for Du Lei Xin to marry Gu Jiao Mai if Gu Jiao Mai agreed.

Gu Jiao Wu knocked on Gu Jiao Mai’s bedroom door.

‘Big brother, is something wrong?’ Gu Jiao Mai asked.

‘I came to see how you are,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Don’t push yourself too hard.’

‘I’m OK,’ Gu Jiao Mai said. ‘I can train my legs to move around my room for another half an hour.’

‘Sit down and take a rest first,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

Gu Jiao Wu helped Gu Jiao Mai sit on the sofa.

‘Big brother, I want to leave home,’ Gu Jiao Mai said. ‘I want to go anywhere overseas.’

‘Jiao Mai, if you leave, what about Lei Xin?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

‘There is nothing between us,’ Gu Jiao Mai said.

‘But Lei Xin loves you,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Jiao Mai, I promise you that you won’t find another man in the world who loves you more than Lei Xin.’

‘I don’t need his kind of love,’ Gu Jiao Mai said. ‘He can sleep with all the women in the world, and I wouldn’t care.’

‘Jiao Mai, what you saw is a misunderstanding,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I promise Lei Xin wasn’t unfaithful to you.  Lei Xin said you can’t let go of Liang Hao Cheng. Is it true?’

Gu Jiao Wu couldn’t believe the guilty look in Gu Jiao Mai’s eyes.

‘Jiao Mai, Liang Hao Cheng left years ago,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Why can’t you let go of him?’

‘Who are you to preach?’ Gu Jiao Mai asked. ‘Can you honestly say you’re not like me? Chu Da left years ago too. But you can’t let go of Chu Da, and you still think of Chu Da.’
