The whole event took only ten seconds!

Not until Ryan and Patricia — who was still aghast — had gotten out of the car did everyone come out of their shock.

“D*mn it, you rascal, are you crazy? Do you know how much the company’s gate cost? At least one million— You’re done, man! Can you afford it?”

“Oh, isn’t this the pretty secretary of Mears Corporation? You must have not had enough fun last time. Or you actually want to pick up where we left off, eh?”

Amid the noisy scene, the brawny guys who had planned to stop Ryan outside the gate earlier rushed into the lobby and surrounded Ryan and Patricia.

The leading guy was bald with a scar, presumably from a knife cut, on his head. He looked hideous.

Patricia stood beside Ryan. She spontaneously hid behind him when she saw that bald guy. “It was him, Mr. Fletcher. They call him Bald Head. He forced me and Miss Mears into a store room last time. He would have raped us if not for the security personnel from Mears arriving on time.”

There was a cold smirk in Ryan’s eyes even before Patricia had finished her sentence.

‘How dare he lay his hands on my woman?’

“You’d better not do anything stupid. I’m not here looking for a fight. I’m here to ask for our money back. Ask your boss Duncan Shaw to meet us!” Ryan scanned those brawn men, his gaze landing on Bald Head.

Bald Head was on pins and needles under Ryan’s stare. “Hmph! I was wondering who was barking here. Apparently, it is a Chihuahua from the Mears family. How dare you, stupid trash, come and ask for money? Our boss is not here, and there is no money for you! Mates, kill this idiot and feed him to the dog while I have a moment with the beautiful Patricia.”

While speaking, Bald Head leered at Patricia. “Hey, beauty. We had only torn the stockings halfway last time. Shall we pick up where we left off?”

Four burly men lined up in front of Bald Head. They each tapped a steel pipe in their hands as they approached Ryan. “Hey, kid. We have warned you, yet you don’t listen. Now just die!”

The four thugs were apparently ruthless. When they were one meter away from Ryan, they suddenly bounded and leapt like a cheetah. The steel pipes in their hands were all aiming at his vulnerable spots.

Heart, head… Their every strike was deadly.

“Be careful!” Patricia yelled softly beside Ryan. She let out a long sigh in her heart. “We should alert the police, Mr. Fletcher!”

‘Sigh.’

‘Mr. Fletcher is so headstrong.

‘I would not have let him be if I had known he is this self-willed. He could not possibly fight so many people at once.’

Ryan ignored Patricia’s words. “Wait here,” he told her before he faded into a shadow as he lunged up to meet the four burly men.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

After a series of tumultuous noises and before Patricia could see exactly what was happening, those four burly men were already lying on the ground, motionless.

And the steel pipes they used were bent, with faint fist prints on the indented surface.

‘Did he just parry these steel pipes with his fists?’

“Go! Go! Kill him!” Bald Head’s voice trembled when he saw how badass Ryan was. He pushed two more burly men to stand in front of him while he hurriedly backed out.

As he was chickening out, he cursed his underling, who fed him the intel in his mind.

‘What the heck? I thought Lumi’s ineffectual husband was a wimp, a gigolo? But now, by the looks of him, he is a badass!’

Bald Head was fast, but Ryan was even faster. Ryan sprung up in the air and kicked the two burly men aside with flying sidekicks. The next moment, he had gotten hold of Bald Head’s shoulder and swung him around to the floor in front of Patricia with the flip of his hand.

Bald Head’s body hit the concrete floor with a thud, so painful that it almost knocked him out. “Do you know who I am, Ryan? How dare you hit me. You—”

Before Bald Head could finish his sentence, Ryan forced his foot on his chest. “This is just to teach you a lesson. If you dare to touch my woman, I will not hesitate to kill you.” While speaking, he applied force on Bald Head’s chest. It hurt Bald Head so much as it pressed against his internal organs, his face contorting.

When Ryan saw those burly men nearby wanting to get closer, he grabbed Bald Head’s hand, got hold of one of his fingers, and snapped it by flicking it backward. “Who dares to come closer?”

“Aah— Rascal! D*mn it! You lowlife eater of broken meats!” Bald Head screamed in pain from the broken finger, and hurriedly shouted at those burly men around him, “Back off! Don’t come near even an inch without my order!”

Ryan only let go of Bald Head’s hand when those burly men stopped coming.

“W-W-What do you want, Ryan?” With Ryan still stepping on him, Bald Head tried hard to fight back the pain as he spoke.

“What do I want? Didn’t I say that clearly—I’m here to get back our money! Ask your boss, Duncan Shaw, to meet us!” Ryan snapped.

“Our boss is really not here in the office…” Bald Head was quibbling as he lay on the ground. Saying nothing, Ryan grabbed Bald Head’s hand and broke another finger of his. “Wrong answer. Treat this as the punishment for touching my wife! Be careful with your answer. Otherwise, it will be two fingers at one go next time.”

“Aah—” Bald Head nearly passed out and started to beg Ryan. “Spare my life, Mr. Fletcher. I—I really don’t know. I just got a call from the boss and followed the order—”

Before Bald Head could finish, a middle-aged man in a suit with glasses, under the protection of two young men in camouflage uniforms, appeared from the landing on the first floor. “Stop it! You all should have shown more hospitality toward Mr. Fletcher.”

Patricia instantly recognized the middle-aged man who was speaking. “He is Duncan Shaw, the owner of Newlane Logistics. People call him Smiling Tiger.”

Ryan glanced at Duncan with a sneer in his mind.

Smiling Tiger?

Of course, he knew who Duncan Shaw was. Archer had sent him information about Duncan Shaw before he came.

“Cut the crap, Duncan. Pay up.” He threw the file containing the unpaid bills in front of Duncan. “It has been four or five years now, and it’s time to pay. Don’t you think so?”

Duncan adjusted his glasses with a nonchalant smile. “Not that I don’t want to pay. Just that we are in a difficult position as the company has run out of money.”

The corner of Ryan’s mouth twitched. He let go of Bald Head under his feet and strolled up to Duncan. “Mr. Shaw, I thought we could talk like civilized people. Don’t force me to do otherwise.”

Just when he was less than two meters away, the two youths in camouflage uniforms beside Duncan took a step forward with a killer look in their eyes.

Ryan was taken aback when he noticed the composure and the fighting stances of two guys.

‘Huh?’

‘Karate masters?’

It surprised him to see that Duncan could actually find two karate masters as his bodyguards. By the looks of them, these two guys could be black belts.

There was more to Duncan than met the eye.

Ryan hesitated for a moment. Just then, there was a sudden applause coming from the door. It was Allan who was clapping his hands as he came into the lobby with two bodyguards. “Oh, isn’t this the son-in-law of the Mears family? Weren’t you badass this morning? Now your company is so broke that you have to come begging for money? Come on, wag your tail. Maybe I can ask Mr. Shaw to throw you some bones.”
