The Second Empire of Azeroth

#130 - The Hatred of Stormwind Nobles

Roger waved his hand, and the image of the entire Stormwind City appeared in mid-air.

“You built Stormwind City by accepting the kingdom's order, so there's no problem with the entire Stormwind City belonging to the kingdom, right?”

The crowd nodded. Although they didn't know what the problem was, they still felt that what Roger said made a lot of sense.

Roger continued, “In that case, the ownership of all the shops in Stormwind City also belongs to the kingdom. Now, since the kingdom can't pay your wages, taking out some shops as wages to offset them should be acceptable, right?”

The stonemasons were immediately tempted when they heard this. The shops in Stormwind City were very valuable. If they could really own some shops, they could live very comfortably in Stormwind City just on the rent.

“Are you trying to trick us!” A stonemason questioned.

Roger said lightly, “Stormwind City has thousands of shops. Even if we take out one-third of them, it will be enough to pay your wages.”

Varian said softly, “Rogers, don't talk nonsense. Those shops belong to the nobles. I can't transfer them to the stonemasons.”

Roger turned his head, “Then do you have any way to solve the current predicament?”

Varian shook his head in frustration when he heard this.

“In that case, don't talk and let me handle it. If those nobles have any complaints, they will come to me.”

Roger waved his hand and said to the guards, “To prevent any more accidents with His Majesty the King and the Queen, you escort them back to the palace.”

He said to the stonemasons, “Now, I fully represent the Stormwind Kingdom to negotiate with you.”

“Who gave you the right to represent the Stormwind Kingdom?” The nobles rushed over, looking at Roger with exasperation.

Roger looked at these nobles with amusement. They finally couldn't hide in the dark? They were still a little impatient! If these nobles were a little more shameless, they could completely deny the agreement signed by Roger after he had distributed the shops. In that case, the craftsmen would only hold Roger accountable.

Unfortunately, they still valued those shops too much.

The nobles stepped out of the crowd and questioned Roger, “Who gave you the right to distribute our shops?”

“Your shops? How much money did you spend to buy them?” Roger asked back.

The nobles' expressions froze, but they quickly said, “We paid the wages of the craftsmen in advance, so these shops should belong to us.”

“You paid the wages in advance? Then why haven't these craftsmen received them?” Roger continued to ask.

The craftsmen immediately clamored, “Yes! Why haven't we received them?”

“How haven't you received them? We paid for the early construction money and the subsequent installments.” A noble said angrily.

Roger laughed, “In that case, how much money did you pay?”

The nobles immediately shut up.

They also have families to support. Now, many stonemasons can't even afford bread and can only support their families by working. As the biggest contributors to the reconstruction of Stormwind City, can they be balanced?

Who would be balanced if it were them?

“It's good to have specific numbers!” Roger said, “Stormwind City, as the main city of the kingdom, is a gathering place for hundreds of thousands of humans. So the shops here are very valuable. The current market price is at least 30,000 to 50,000 gold coins. Of course, we can't calculate it according to the current price. We calculate it according to the time when Stormwind City was just built. Is it okay to say that each shop is worth 10,000 gold coins?”

The stonemasons nodded one after another. When Stormwind City was just built, the shops were almost at this price, and even the shops in the trade area were several times more expensive.

Roger said, “3.4 million gold coins is 340 shops. Depending on the different areas, the price will also increase. The old city is based on 10,000 gold coins, and the craftsman area is calculated at 20,000 gold coins. The shops in the noble area, mage area, and trade area are calculated at 30,000 gold coins.”

He looked at the nobles, “Since you have already paid, then you can choose first!”

The nobles looked at each other. Some nobles said sadly, “Those are all our shops.”

Roger said coldly, “You want to use 3.4 million gold coins to buy shops worth more than 50 million gold coins in the whole city. What a good deal!”

“Never mind how much money we spent, we have the title deeds to these shops in our hands, these shops are ours!”

“According to the laws of the Stormwind Kingdom, it is an illegal transaction to buy goods far exceeding their value at a low price. Everyone, do you want to take a trip to the prison?”

Roger waved his hand, and the guards next to him immediately stepped forward. Many of them sympathized with the stonemasons, but because they had no say, they couldn't do anything except sympathize. But now, Roger had sent them a way to help, and they were very willing to send these shameful nobles to prison.

The nobles became vigilant. They glared at the guards, “You fools, dare to touch us!”

“Humph!” Roger knocked down the noble who made the threat with a casual blow, “Tie him up!”

The guards swarmed up and tied up the noble.

Roger looked at the nobles, “Is there anyone else who dares to oppose the laws of the kingdom?”

The nobles were silent. Many of them were spellcasters. The moment Roger made his move, they felt Roger's powerful strength. Even when facing Archmage Antonidas, they didn't have this feeling. How strong is this guy?

Roger looked at these nobles with disdain. They were a bunch of cowards who bullied the weak and feared the strong, and they were unlikely to achieve anything great.

“Since there is no objection, come over and sign the new agreement!”

The nobles could not resist. Under Roger's strong pressure, they could only bow their heads first and then try to take back their shops.

The stonemasons cheered because they would also get hundreds of shops. In this way, the annual rent would be enough for them to live on. They could even resume their old business and continue to do engineering. You know, there are still many places in the kingdom that need to be rebuilt. Nightshire, Lakeshire, and many fortresses all need a large number of stonemasons.
