The Second Empire of Azeroth
#142 - Desolate Land
During the process of forging the Hand of Ragnaros, the Thorium Brotherhood discovered Roger's power. Therefore, after the Council of Three Hammers was established, they quickly passed a resolution to become Roger's loyal allies.
Their trust in Roger exceeded that of Magni, even though Magni had also helped them overthrow Thaurissan's evil rule. However, the hatred between the Dark Iron dwarves and the Bronzebeard and Wildhammer dwarves could not be eliminated in a short period. Just as they hated the Bronzebeard dwarves, the Bronzebeard dwarves also hated them.
Since the three factions took control of Blackrock Depths, the Bronzebeard dwarves had frequently oppressed the Dark Iron dwarves, and even had conflicts with the Thorium Brotherhood from time to time. Although these conflicts were resolved by Magni, they served as a wake-up call for the Thorium Brotherhood. If they couldn't secure a powerful backer, they would still face the risk of extermination, just like during the War of the Three Hammers.
Therefore, they chose Roger to be their backer.
After the resolution was passed, the Council of Three Hammers sent a large number of warriors and craftsmen to Roger's army. Soon, their numbers exceeded those of the human soldiers, second only to the orcish warriors.
Roger knew that the Council of Three Hammers was offering him a pledge of allegiance, so he readily accepted.
Magni didn't say anything after learning about this. His purpose in attacking Blackrock Mountain was to rescue his daughter Moira. If it weren't for Roger's help, he wouldn't have been able to enter Shadowforge City, let alone "rescue" his daughter.
He owed Roger a favor, so he helped Roger forge weapons.
After the fire sword, modeled after Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker in appearance and the Hand of Ragnaros in energy output, was forged, he decisively offered his farewells.
Shadowforge City was not Ironforge, and he had no intention of staying permanently.
Roger looked at the "Sulfuras, the Extinguished Hand" in his hand and said to Magni with a smile, "This sword is a symbol of our friendship. From now on, I will try my best to help the dwarves eliminate hatred and prevent civil war among the dwarves."
Magni also smiled and said, "I will also restrain the Bronzebeard dwarves."
Magni left, but not all the Bronzebeard dwarves withdrew. Magni temporarily appointed his brother Brann as the envoy of Ironforge to stay in Shadowforge City, to maintain communication and be responsible for the Ethereal Tank improvement project.
The reason for the temporary appointment was that Brann was not one to stay idle. He was passionate about adventure and archaeology, and was a famous monster-puller in Azeroth. To keep him idle would be like killing him.
Fortunately, Brann was recently very interested in Uldaman, and the Dark Iron dwarves had established Anguish Fortress near Uldaman to excavate the Uldaman ruins. Although Anguish Fortress was still under the control of Ambassador Flamelash, Roger had already put the attack on Anguish Fortress on the agenda.
The Dark Iron dwarves had been operating in Searing Gorge, Burning Steppes, and the Badlands for a long time. If they hadn't been unexpectedly attacked by the Horde, they might have already been competing with the Bronzebeard dwarves for control of Loch Modan.
After all, the Dark Iron dwarves were not fire elemental creatures, and they were unwilling to live near the barren Blackrock Mountain.
After Roger pacified Molten Core, he immediately set his sights on Blackrock Spire.
Without Nefarian, the Blackrock orcs could hardly resist the Sons of Lothar's attack. The Sons of Lothar had experienced countless wars in Draenor, and among these opponents, the orcs were relatively weak. If Roger didn't want to sacrifice any of the Sons of Lothar, they would have probably leveled Blackrock Spire long ago.
Even so, with accumulated infiltration, the Sons of Lothar quickly captured the lower Blackrock Spire.
Rend Blackhand led the remaining orcs into the upper Blackrock Spire to resist stubbornly, but after Nefarian was one-shotted by Ragnaros, Rend no longer resisted Roger. A powerful figure who could kill Ragnaros, becoming his master didn't seem unacceptable.
Nefarian's defection allowed Roger to easily capture the upper Blackrock Spire. Without the Sons of Lothar even needing to take action, Nefarian's black dragons and drakonid bound all the orcs and brought them before Roger.
However, Onyxia was unhappy with this. Nefarian was competing with her for favor!
The two black dragons fought each other. To gain Roger's attention, Nefarian summoned his subordinates in the Badlands, consisting of more than a dozen black dragons and hundreds of drakonid troops.
With the army growing stronger day by day, Roger also began to turn his attention to the Badlands.
As Ragnaros' last stronghold in the material plane, Anguish Fortress was a place that Roger had to take.
The Council of Three Hammers sent two sages to lead the Dark Iron dwarf warriors to cooperate in the battle. General Drakkisath led the drakonid army as the vanguard, and the Sons of Lothar commanded the orcish army as reinforcements. Before the war, the two sages sent spies to infiltrate the fortress. When the army attacked, the inside accomplices immediately opened the fortress gate.
Then, most of the Dark Iron dwarves turned against them, and the fire elementals led by Ambassador Flamelash were easily defeated with internal and external cooperation.
After taking Anguish Fortress, there were no longer any hostile forces near Blackrock Mountain.
Roger began to turn his attention to internal affairs, mainly in three aspects.
First, the corrupting aura on the Dark Iron dwarves, black dragons, and drakonid. Whether it was the dark aura of the Old Gods or the corruption of Ragnaros, they were all affecting them. If these were not removed, they would still be at risk of corruption.
Second, the transformation of the Blackrock Mountain area. Molten Core would be retained as an energy base, and Shadowforge City would be retained as a factory for the time being. Blackrock Spire needed to be demolished and rebuilt into a city. In addition, afforestation was also needed. Many life mages among the Sons of Lothar had already begun afforestation at the Scorched Outpost and had achieved some success. The next step would be to carry out afforestation in areas far from the lava, such as Blackrock Territory, and after the black dragons repaired the land, a full-coverage transformation would be carried out.
Third, the excavation of Uldaman. After the war, Brann led the dwarves who liked to excavate the Uldaman ruins.
Roger knew that Uldaman's return to the world was imminent, and he had to prepare for battle with the titan guardians inside. After seeing Aggramar's arcane magic, Roger had high expectations for the titan creations. It would be even better if he could find some titan aura on them. This was also the main reason why Roger supported Brann's excavation work.
