The Second Empire of Azeroth
#158 - Frostmourne vs Windseeker's Blessing
The undead Vrykul were fighting when suddenly a powerful surge of magic washed over them, filling them with weariness. Though they no longer needed sleep after becoming undead, they couldn't resist the overwhelming drowsiness. Their spectral flames dimmed, their movements faltered, and they collapsed to the ground, unmoving.
"Stop!"
Turalyon noticed the anomaly affecting the undead Vrykul and quickly ordered his soldiers to cease their attack. He suspected this was the reason Roger had asked him to hold on. If these undead Vrykul were awakened, Roger's plan would likely be ruined. The soldiers cautiously watched the undead Vrykul, slowly withdrawing from the battlefield.
The tank army, however, wasn't ready to let these Vrykul off the hook. They focused their fire, blasting the Vrykul into smithereens one by one. However, this slaughter consumed too much energy, and the tank army was struggling to maintain its combat effectiveness. Gargon Firehammer pulled back some of the tanks that had run out of energy, returning them to the lake to replace their Arcanite Crystals. The remaining tanks set up a defensive line at the front, anticipating another attack from the undead Vrykul inside.
Ymiron felt a surge of powerful magical energy and also became drowsy. Just as he was about to fall asleep, a powerful surge of energy erupted from Frostmourne, snapping him awake.
"Boom—"
The mountain exploded, and a massive figure leaped out, heading straight for the magic array.
Khadgar, though weary, was invigorated. "It seems the magic is working!"
Roger nodded. "You guys maintain the array. I'll take care of him!"
With that, Roger charged towards Ymiron.
As he charged, Roger's body began to grow larger and larger.
After becoming a demigod, his body had already surpassed that of ordinary beings. However, because of Alleria, Roger used magic to restrict his size, as he didn't want to play a Hulk and Black Widow game.
But now, facing the towering Ymiron, he released the restriction.
Because he saw the weapon in Ymiron's hand—Frostmourne!
As the most famous weapon in the Warcraft universe, Roger could recognize it even if it turned to ashes, let alone seeing it magnified countless times.
Although he was puzzled as to why Frostmourne had become so large, Roger didn't underestimate the weapon at all. Whether it was created by Kil'jaeden himself or Blizzard retconned the lore and gave the setting to the Jailer, it was still the most famous weapon in Warcraft history, even if it was shattered by the Ashbringer.
Facing Frostmourne, if he didn't use his full strength, it might be the Waterloo of his life, a matter of life and death.
Therefore, Roger not only increased his size but also took out his most powerful weapon.
As soon as the Thunderfury appeared, dark clouds filled the sky. Countless lightning bolts struck down from the clouds, bombarding Ymiron relentlessly.
Ymiron was no pushover either. As the powerful Vrykul King, Ymiron's own strength was already immense. After obtaining Frostmourne, his strength increased again, even catching up to his former master, the Titan Watcher Loken, the King of Wisdom.
Facing the countless lightning strikes, Ymiron was fearless. Frostmourne unleashed a massive amount of frost, and a huge ice shield appeared in front of him, blocking the lightning. The lightning shattered the ice shield, but before it could hit Ymiron, a new ice shield reappeared.
Thus, Ymiron stared at the lightning bombardment and continued to charge forward, quickly reaching Roger.
Frostmourne, with its immense chill, howled as it attacked Roger. Roger raised Thunderfury to block, and the raging lightning continuously consumed the frost. However, the frost was so substantial that it penetrated the lightning's barrier and invaded Roger's body.
Cold!
Roger couldn't help but shiver. The intense chill stung his bones, as if it would freeze his entire being.
This—was definitely not the Lich King's power!
He had met Ner'zhul and knew something about him. Even with the blessing of the entire Scourge of Northrend, he wouldn't possess the power to easily harm a demigod.
Roger keenly sensed the rich and pure soul power within Frostmourne. This was clearly not something that was infused later but was already present during its forging. And the person who could wield such powerful soul power was definitely not Kil'jaeden but the Jailer from the Shadowlands.
He snorted coldly in his heart: Since you want to be my enemy, then I will make your plans fail!
Seeing that Roger was affected by the cold, Ymiron immediately launched an attack, wanting to take the opportunity to kill Roger.
However, before Frostmourne could approach Roger, a bolt of lightning erupted from Roger's body, not only dispelling the cold but also accelerating Roger's movements. He easily dodged Ymiron's attack, and Thunderfury pierced into Ymiron's body at a strange angle.
Lightning poured in along Thunderfury, exploding inside Ymiron's body, directly tearing off a large piece of flesh from his abdomen. Internal organs fell out along the wound, but unfortunately, after becoming undead, these internal organs had all dried up. Even if they didn't fall out, they would slowly rot away.
Ymiron was injured, but he was extremely angry.
As the King of the Vrykul, he had never been so embarrassed.
With an angry roar, Ymiron wielded Frostmourne, launching a frenzied attack. Each strike was faster than the last, seemingly vowing to kill Roger.
However, Roger was stronger than he had anticipated. With his fast and elusive speed, coupled with his legendary-level peerless swordsmanship, even if he couldn't dodge, he could easily use Thunderfury to parry his attacks.
Unable to land a hit for a long time, Ymiron wanted to use the heavy Frostmourne to sever the thin Thunderfury. After losing his weapon, he could kill Roger.
Therefore, his subsequent attacks were all-out, specifically targeting Thunderfury.
Roger didn't care in his heart. Although Thunderfury looked thin, it was actually very tough. The materials used to forge it were taken from the ancient world of Azeroth. Back when the Titans hadn't arrived yet, who knew what powerful materials there would be.
Anyway, no matter how Frostmourne smashed, Thunderfury remained exceptionally sturdy.
The two weapons clashed, and it could only be said that they were evenly matched.
However, this battle, in addition to comparing the materials of the two swords, also compared their masters.
Roger poured all his divine power into Thunderfury, and Thunderfury was instantly surrounded by raging lightning. The two swords collided, and the soul power on Frostmourne was instantly dispersed by the lightning. The sword was cut in half from the middle, and Roger won!
