The Second Empire of Azeroth
#23 - Death of Ryan
The Orcs are attacking Stormwind again!
This news stunned everyone. Neither King Llane nor Lothar had imagined the Orcs would still have the strength to attack.
Only Roger knew that Orgrim had taken over.

According to the chronicles, Orgrim should have taken over a month ago and breached Stormwind before Lothar returned.
Roger felt it was all too hasty. Orgrim, a strategist, easily believed Gul'dan's coma, killed Blackhand, took over the Shadow Council, and then led his army to break through Stormwind. The battle with Blackhand lasted several hours, plus dealing with the Shadow Council and attacking Stormwind. This was even faster than Lothar's journey to Karazhan to complete his plot kill. Could it be that the Stormwind army didn't resist at all? Couldn't tens of thousands of troops even hold out until Lothar returned?
Even with Garona assassinating Llane, this was still the point that puzzled Roger the most.
Garona had gone to Karazhan with Lothar, so how could she have returned early and been captured by the Orcs? Did Garona flee without a fight?
Or perhaps the events unfolding in reality were more logical.
Orgrim needed time to confirm whether Gul'dan's coma was real or fake. After confirming Gul'dan's coma, he needed to ensure he could win before challenging Blackhand. And this required some time. After all, Orgrim's nickname was "Backstabber," and preparing a "backstab" also needed some time.
Because Blackhand's two failures had caused heavy losses to the Orcs, Orgrim had to spend a lot of time preparing for the expedition. Not to mention other military supplies, but food alone needed some preparation, right? The Orcs didn't have mages; they couldn't conjure food. Food could only be obtained through hunting and looting.
However, the animals around the Orcs had long been slaughtered, either entering the Orcs' bellies or being converted into fel energy to power the Dark Portal.
And the human towns and manors providing cover had also been looted by the Orcs, leaving no extra food.
The Orcs could only speed up their march and then hunt in Elwynn Forest to collect food.
Therefore, the Orcs had delayed for a month before starting to attack Stormwind.
At this time, Lothar, staying in Stormwind, would definitely be able to resist the Orcs' attack.
Then the only loophole now was King Llane's death.
Having figured out all the key points, Roger immediately got up to see Lothar.
However, before he could find Lothar, a sudden commotion came from the palace, faintly accompanied by shouts of "Catch the assassin!"
Roger was immediately shocked and hurried towards the palace. The guards in the palace were already in chaos. Roger quickly grabbed a guard and asked, "What assassin are you catching?"
"The assassin who assassinated the King! It's Garona!"
As expected!
Roger understood in his heart, "How is the King now?"
"Not sure!"
This guard was obviously not guarding Llane's side and only knew that the assassin was Garona; he didn't know any other details.
Helpless, Roger could only investigate himself.
"Wait, you can't go inβ"
The guard was about to stop him, but in the blink of an eye, he lost sight of Roger.
Roger used Windwalk and went straight to the place where King Llane was. He quickly found the location of King Llane.
The king was lying on the ground, with a bloody hole in his chest. His heart had been dug out by Garona. Prince Varian was cowering aside, afraid to approach his father's unsightly corpse.
Roger revealed himself. The guards immediately became alert when they saw him.
"How long has Garona been gone?"
The guards recognized Roger. Although they weren't very fond of Roger's title of "combat hero," Roger was still a knight personally appointed by King Llane, no matter what. Although there were many knights in Stormwind, Roger still belonged to the noble class.
"It should be three minutes!"
"Should be?" Roger found it amusing. Was this the ability of the Royal Guards? No wonder King Llane was assassinated.
The guards felt annoyed. Was Roger looking down on them?
"Tell everyone to stop searching. With Garona's ability, she would have run out of Stormwind in three minutes!" Roger said unceremoniously, "Now, immediately send someone to notify Sir Lothar, tell him to hand over his work to his deputy, and come over immediately."
"You have no right to order us!" The guards said coldly.
Roger said disdainfully, "Instead of wasting time arguing about rights with me here, you might as well think about how you protected the King!"
"If I were Sir Lothar, I would kill you all first! If you don't want to die, do as I say."
"Find something to cover the King with. Are you just going to let the King lie here exposed?"
The guards broke out in a cold sweat. They were only thinking about catching the assassin just now and hadn't thought about covering King Llane's body.
While the guards were busy, Roger walked to Prince Varian's side, looked at his trembling body, and softly comforted him, "Don't be afraid, we will protect you. Sir Lothar will be here soon."
Hearing Lothar's name, the light returned to Varian's eyes. He trembled and said, "I saw it."
Roger was silent. It was such a cruel thing to let a child see his father being killed.
However, he couldn't let Varian continue like this because he still had a mission to shoulder.
Although this was cruel to Varian, he had to do it.
"Your Highness, you must pull yourself together. Now the entire kingdom is in danger. You are the sole heir of the Wrynn family. You must pull yourself together, even if you pretend to pull yourself together."
Varian raised his head and looked at him in confusion.
Roger said, "The assassin was sent by the Orcs, and the Orcs are about to attack Stormwind. The Orcs hope that you will be devastated by the assassination of His Majesty the King, so they can easily take Stormwind. Your Highness, they killed your father, can you let them have their way?"
"No⦠I can't!"
Varian's body was still trembling, but his mind had cleared up.
"That's right, we can't let the Orcs succeed. Therefore, Your Highness, you must stand up straight, tell Sir Lothar, tell all the nobles, tell the soldiers and civilians of Stormwind, tell those Orcs outside the city: Nothing can defeat you. You will inherit your father's unfinished business, complete it, and do it even better."
Varian nodded vigorously, repeating Roger's words: "I will. I will inherit my father's unfinished business and complete it even better."
Roger held out his hand, "Come on, Your Highness, take courage. I will stand with you and face everyone!"
Varian put his hand in his, and a strange light shone in his eyes.
It was just like looking at his fatherβ¦ β¦
