Asta, Yuno reached the royal city at a perfect time on the day of the exam. They got into the line. After going inside the arena, all participants stood around while Yuno and Asta stood out from the rest for different reasons.

While Yuno didn't have a single anti-bird around him which amazed everyone, Asta was flocked by several birds making him a laughing stock.

Trying to get away from the birds, Asta runs into Yami Sukehiro, captain of the Black Bulls, and his companions Finral Roulacase and Gordon Agrippa making Asta stunned after seeing the behavior of this captain.

After Yami leaves, Sekke Bronzazza introduces himself to Asta and describes the captains and their squads as they enter: Nozel Silva of the Silver Eagles, Fuegoleon Vermillion of the Crimson Lions, Jack the Ripper of the Green Mantises,

Charlotte Roselei of the Blue Roses, Gueldre Poizot of the Purple Orca, Dorothy Unsworth of the Coral Peac_o_c_ks, Rill Boismortier of the Azure Deer, and William Vangeance of the Golden Dawns.

During the exam, Asta struggles with various tests while Yuno and Sekke display great skill. For the final test, the candidates find partners to fight. Sekke chooses Asta because he sees Asta as a weak peasant.

At first, Asta thought he was helping him as no one is choosing him as his partner. But his face turned dark when he heard him "you don't have to try hard anymore, you filthy rat that wandered into the wrong place.

He walked a bit far and stood and further said, "so, miserable peasant. Hurry back to your village in the boonies and continue enjoying your crappy life, hahaha".

Even though he insulted him a bit too harsh, no one minded as they saw how weak his magic really is. But all were surprised when they saw Asta summoning a black grimoire and pulled out a sword and in an instant,

he destroyed the Sekke's Magnum Cannonball which was a transparent sphere formed by Bronze Creation magic which has high defense while the several peaks on the sphere are used for attacking.

Sekke fell unconscious when he was hit by Asta's Anti-Magic sword in one move.

Salim casts his most powerful spell, but Yuno was able to defeat him easily with his Towering Tornado.

A while later, after the end of the exam, all gathered in one place together while waiting for their number.

The nine Magic squad captains began to choose one by one after each person is being called. Those who weren't chosen began to go back in a disappointment. Soon, its Yuno's turn. When he was called, He came forward and all nine captains raised their hand.

As he heard that William was the one who was closest to become the next Magic Emperor, he chose Golden Dawn. After him, Asta's name was called up, as no one raised their hand, William stood and said, "No matter how high your combat skills are...

if the source of your power is unknown, no one wants anything to do with it. In the end, the only thing d_e_s_i_r_ed from a Magic knight is....." a light chuckle interrupted his speech which was heard by everyone for some reason, then a voice said, "is their magic power, isn't it?. Can't expect anything more from a captain like you".

All looked around their surroundings. William frowned, "this voice is somehow vaguely familiar". A space tear suddenly appeared beside Asta making him scared a little bit and took a step back.

Inside from it, Shuichi and Julius flew out from it and landed on the ground. The audience suddenly cheered "it's the Magic emperor". While the magic knights who were present kneeled on one leg immediately,

The nine captains jumped down and stood before him and bowed a little. Meanwhile, Asta and others were also excited to see the Magic Emperor but more than so, all the candidates were confused about what is an unknown person who is also seemed like their age doing beside him.

William upon seeing Shuichi frowned, while Shuichi greeted him, "it's been a while, William". Upon seeing his expression, the remaining captains thought "do they know each other? it seemed like William doesn't like him".

Yami replied, "it's you, brat. The one who escaped from us back then". Shuichi looked at him and replied, "it's not like you three have the capability to catch me". At first, it sounded arrogant but when they thought about it, it sounded true as they remembered his spatial magic just now.

Shuichi then spoke, "we can introduce ourselves later. First, let us finish what we came for. Julius, your permission".

The other eight captains frowned while hearing such disrespectful words from a 16-year-old brat, After seeing Julius is beside him and his face is a bit serious, they shut their mouth and decided to teach him a lesson, later.

But unlike others, Nozel Silva who was very proud as a royalty got angry. When Shuichi sensed his anger. He looked at him coldly while changing his eyes to Rinnegan making him shivered in fear for a fraction of second which stunned Nozel.

He thought, "did I, Nozel of the Silva family, captain of Silver Eagles, feared this guy?". Shuichi then turned his eyes to someone making all of them think "eye magic?".

All of a sudden, Gueldre Poizot, the captain of Purple Orca screamed, "Argh..." without knowing what's going on, a series of black colored rods were constantly struck in in his back, legs and hands by a shadow of Shuichi which only exist in invisible world and completely sealed his mana as well as immobilizing him.

Gueldre fell on his front while everyone got shocked as to why a magic squad captain is suddenly taken down while Julius looks so excited, "Woah. Your magic is really Unique, Shuichi".

After saying that, Julius looked at all captains, "well, carry him to the headquarters first. We'll talk later". Shuichi replied, "don't need it." A space tear formed before him. He picked up Gueldre and threw him inside.

Then he looked at everyone, "enter it". One after one entered the space tear and found themselves inside the Magic Knights Headquarters at the magic emperor's office. Yami mumbled, "this Spatial magic looks a bit different although it just works like Finral's".

As William is entering the spatial tear, He said to one of his subordinates, "Tell them, it's an emergency. Let them wait for an hour or two. We'll choose the remaining ones later".

After everyone entered, Shuichi who was the only one remaining spoke, "Asta, report to Purple Orca HQ tomorrow morning". It surprised everyone including Asta and Yuno.

They thought, "he must have been a higher rank Magic knight in Purple Orca" and Asta raised his fist in happiness which made his initial disappointment went away.
