General’s Aide’s Visit To The Gastagyu Mansion (3).

“Yum!”

The moment I put it in my mouth, I couldn’t help but exclaim. The chicken had a crispy texture with a juicy and succulent meat, and the sour cream had a perfect balance of richness and refreshing aftertaste.

“This sour cream stew is the most delicious I have ever had.”

“Thank you,” Michelle, the servant, replied with a smile as she poured wine into the glass.

All the dishes from the Gastagyu family were incredibly delicious. Canceling James’ party invitation was definitely worth it.

Moreover, the serving staff was cute and attentive. They knew exactly when to refill our wine glasses without interrupting our conversation.

Back when I lived in the dormitories, I only saw the Count’s roughness, but seeing him firmly established in this magnificent house made me feel the General’s dignity.

“I’ll bring the dessert now,” the maid said, timing her departure perfectly.

“Ah, Count Gastagyu, do you always eat such delicious food?” I said, envious of his lifestyle, while I only had bland food in the military housing.

“Yes, I’m grateful to Michelle,” the General said, relaxing his expression while holding his wine glass. Wait, is he joking?

I wish I could be taken care of by a cute maid too. My family’s estate had about ten servants, but they were all skilled veterans from my grandfather’s and father’s generations, and there were no servants of my age.

“I’m also grateful to you, Thomas,” the General suddenly said, looking at me with narrowed eyes.

“You have been helpful to me, not only with the Personnel Dispatch Guild, but also in other ways.”

Strange how human connections work. At first, I found this remote General unpleasant, but now I’m starting to think that I was lucky to be assigned to him.

“Here’s the seasonal fruit jelly,” the cute maid placed a dessert with lots of fruit cut into circles and stars in front of me. Once again, it was delicious.

After finishing the tea after the meal, it was time to go home.

“Thank you for the meal.”

“Take care on your way home.”

“Please come again.”

Standing next to Count Gastagyu with arms crossed at the entrance, Michelle bowed her head.

…I wish I had a helper fairy like her at my place.

“Yes, I’ll definitely come visit again.”

If my superior allows it.

“Oh! I have some muffins I baked for lunch. I’ll wrap them up for you as a souvenir!”

The maid remembers and claps her hands before hurrying to the kitchen.

…She’s such a good kid.

“Your Excellency, is Michelle the only servant in this mansion?”

I secretly ask, curious about something while Michelle is out of earshot.

“Yes, that’s right.”

Maintaining a mansion of this size alone must be quite difficult. But…

“Does that mean you and Michelle are alone together at night too?”

“Yes, what about it?”

…Oh ho.

I can’t help but grin to myself.

“You’re quite the playboy too, Your Excellency.”

“Hm?”

“Well, you’re a man in his prime too. If such a cute girl is by your side, you can’t resist…”

I meant it as a light-hearted teasing, but…

“Guh!”

In an instant, everything went dark and I couldn’t breathe.

…When I came back to reality, the General lifted my neck with one hand.

My throat hurts. My toes are trembling as I barely manage to stay on my feet.

“Michelle is an unmarried girl. Don’t insult her.”

The General glared at me with a chilling gaze.

“Try saying something vulgar again and I’ll hang you.”

“Hang…!?”

I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I won’t do it again!!

“Sorry to keep you waiting!”

Michelle returns to the entrance with a package wrapped in a ribbon, unaware of what had just happened to me.

“Thank you for coming. Your Excellency, see you tomorrow.”

“Hmm.”

After confirming the door is closed, I let out a sigh of relief.

It was quite an eventful day… especially after work. Well, it was interesting in various ways.

Quick recovery is my specialty.

When my stomach is full of delicious food, my heart feels warm too. I start walking home with light steps…

“Hmm?”

I feel so3mething bothering me in my head and turn around to look back at the Gastagyu mansion.

“Didn’t I see that girl somewhere before…?”
