Chapter 47: Return It to Them Tenfold

Ji Hanjiang didn’t know what to say to her. He had been dead drunk last night. He seriously couldn’t even remember anything that had happened.

When Yan Yiren had called, he had been drunk as a lord.

He only found out that Yan Yiren was in hospital when Ling Yunhuan had called him.

Ji Hanjiang covered his face with his hands. “I’m sorry, Yiren. I was drunk last night.”

Drunk?

Yan Yiren nodded but didn’t say anything. She had been through so much and didn’t have much strength left.

Her intuition might be wrong, but it seemed like since she had been abducted, Ji Hanjiang had changed.

She couldn’t put her finger on what had changed. Perhaps he was telling the truth and he was simply very busy?

She had always believed that being busy wasn’t an excuse. If a person truly wished to spend time with you, they would try their very best to make some time for you, no matter how difficult it might be.

Unless they didn’t want to spend time with you…

“Yiren, why aren’t you saying anything?” Ji Hanjiang held onto her hand once more. Yan Yiren lowered her head, and the corners of her lips rose a little as if she was mocking herself.

Ji Hanjiang was at a loss to understand. “Yiren, don’t be like that… It’s the mother and daughter, isn’t it? I’ll go now and find someone to deal with them to avenge you!”

After saying his piece, he actually stood up, ready to storm off in a fit.

Yan Yiren lifted her head quickly and swiftly grabbed onto his hand. “Hanjiang!”

Ji Hanjiang turned back, his lips pressed into a thin line. Trying to suppress his anger, he spat his words out. “They dared to touch someone who belongs to me! They must have a death wish!”

“If you deal with them now, won’t their punishments just come back to haunt me in the end?” Yan Yiren released her grasp slowly, closing her eyes as she bitterly said, “As long as I continue going back to visit Grandma, those two will never let me off the hook.”

Ji Hanjiang paced around the ward, clearly unsettled. “Am I expected to watch you get bullied by them before my very eyes without doing anything?!”

“Being by my side when I need you is the greatest thing you can do for me.” Yan Yiren gazed out of the window. “As for that mother and daughter, the time to strike isn’t ripe yet…”

Ji Hanjiang stood completely still, remaining in his spot for a long time. The ward suddenly quietened down. It was so quiet that you could even hear one’s heartbeat.

Disappointment slowly crept across his handsome face. Amidst his disappointment, he felt pain, as well as guilt.

“Yiren…” He had so much to say to her. But once Ji Hanjiang opened his mouth, he realized that everything seemed meaningless.

She was being bullied. He was angry, and his heart ached for her. All he wanted to do was avenge her. None of those feelings were wrong.

He couldn’t wrap his head around it. Was he simply not strong enough?

Was he not strong enough for her to feel like she could rely on him and to make her feel secure?

Why did she need to tolerate being bullied? From his point of view, there was a simple solution: an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

She should just return the treatment the mother and daughter had handed out to her tenfold.

Not everyone in this world was kind. A certain group of people would require special treatment. The mother-daughter duo from the Yan Family belonged to the group of people who would never learn from their mistakes if they were never punished.

Unless they were given a good punishment, the next time they saw Yiren, they would find a way to bully her and torture her again.

Since Yan Yiren was close to Madame Yan, she should just bring her out of the Yan Family house and settle her down somewhere. That way, there would be no further need for her to go to the Yan Family house and put up with Ruan Yufeng and Yan Shudan’s antics whenever she wanted to visit her grandmother.

She’d also no longer need to come back with injuries after every trip to the Yan Family house.

Yan Yiren gazed outside the window silently, as if she couldn’t hear a single word he said. Those bright eyes of hers, sadly, seemed to lose their lustre.

“Yiren, I know that you’re angry that I didn’t answer your call last night. If I knew that this would happen, I wouldn’t have drunk anything!”
