The Stars In Your Eyes

Jian Kang Lu already arrived at the concert hall at 6.20 pm. Today he wears a black suit with black V-line T-shirt inside, paired with black pants and black leather shoes. His hair combed slickly to the back. 

He wears his best watch, a super expensive gift from Hongjia as his last year birthday gift. It costs around USD 20.000. Maybe even more, since his name is engraved at the back of the watch. And it was a limited edition collection that year.

He asked Hongjia last year when he received that watch, why he gave this expensive watch as a birthday gift. He knows this watch can't even match Hongjia's watch collection. One of Hongjia's watches even cost more than USD 100.000.. Sun Hongjia answers that maybe Jian Kang Lu won't get married for lifetime, so he gave that watch to console his lonely soul.

He just laughed that time and said thank you, hoping his sister in law is not jealous and demanded a limited edition Cartier necklace for her next birthday gift.

His overall looks tonight are not too formal, giving him fresh and young looks. But not too casual since this is a classical music concert. Most of the audience is wearing formal suits while the ladies look magnificent in their dark colour gown.

This concert is surely one of the top classical music concerts this year. He checked the concert ticket price in the ticket box last week. The cheapest ticket price is around USD 200, and the most expensive is USD 1000. No wonder, since Yang Jing will perform. She is a world class violinist that performs internationally with major orchestras around the world. And she rarely held the concert here.

His ticket is a good one. The view is surely almost the same with the diamond class since it is dedicated to the sponsor. His brother is one of the top treasury at his bank. His brother's superior really appreciates his talent in predicting stock market and investment. That's why his brother gave these 2 tickets for free.

He's standing near the corner, around the cocktail buffet table. Leisurely put his left hand in his pocket and his right hand opened the WeChat on his phone. He contacted his kitten to ask whether he arrived already. He's afraid his kitten will get lost or late. The concert will start at 7 o'clock, the audience can start to go inside the hall from 6.30 pm. The door will close at 6.50 and the late audience can only come in on the break of concert later on.

His elegance looks standing alone over there inviting the interest of young ladies around the hall. They stole glances toward him, but no one was brave enough to come over and talk to him. They are just curious who is the lucky woman that will accompany him tonight.

Suddenly a middle aged man with formal suit and a young woman with dark blue glittering gown come over. The sexy low back of her gown revealing her smooth white jade skin, but didn't make her look cheap. The asymmetric curve of her gown at the front and the back, paired with abstract pattern of thin silvery line across her lower gown makes her overall looks like enchanting princess from fairy tales. Her hair is styled with asymmetric bun, some of her hair falls into the side of her face. It compliments her simple diamond earrings and the gown well. She wears a simple necklace with a single big diamond dangling in her back.

"Doctor Jian, what a surprise to meet you here."

Jian Kang Lu raised his head and saw Mr. Zhong, one of his patients. He was having kidney failure and underwent a kidney transplant last year. He is still going for regular check up for the immunosuppressant treatment after transplantation. 

Even though he was just an assisted nephrologist in the transplant process, and Mr. Zhong initial doctor at that time was not him, but somehow after transplantation Mr. Zhong insisted to choose him as his doctor every time he's going for regular check up. That's why he remembers Mr. Zhong well.

Jian Kang Lu greeted him politely "Mr. Zhong, how are you? It's a wonderful surprise. Didn't expect to meet one of my favourite patients here."

"I'm doing well this month. Doesn't have any major complaints. By the way, this is my daughter. I don't think you ever meet her. She just came back from France last month."

The young woman beside him greeted him and smiled. "Hi Doctor Jian, i'm Zhong Liu. Thank you for taking care of my father all this time."

"Hello. Not at all, your father is a very disciplined man. He's doing well of his own. I'm just facilitating the medication. But it was all due to his own effort and your support to his successful treatment."

Mr. Zhong laughed and said "That's correct. But without your motivation, i'm going to die from the boring limited diet menu and bunch of pills i have to take everyday. Are you alone, Doctor Jian? Where do you sit? If I knew you would come, I can get you the seat next to us."

"I'm waiting for my friend. Our seat in the invitation box. My brother gave us the ticket, so I just took advantage of the free ticket."

Zhong Liu wondered, who is his friend. Is it male? Female??? His father said that Doctor Jian is single. His father praised Doctor Jian a lot. At first she didn't even bother. But tonight after she saw with her own eyes, she regretted she didn't follow her father's advice to accompany him for his regular check up to see this 'talented handsome gentle charming doctor' promoted by her father.

There's a vibrate sound from Doctor Jian's phone. He looks at the screen and gives them an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, my friend just arrived outside. I think I need to pick him up, since his ticket with me. Let's talk again on the break time."

Mr. Zhong and his daughter smiled back and they saw Doctor Jian walk towards the hall entrance.

Jian Kang Lu waits at the entrance. Few moments later he noticed his kitten standing in the left bottom of the stairs. He looks so charming in Jian Kang Lu's eyes. He can't look away from him. His world seems to spin in slow motion.

His kitten is wearing black turtleneck wool shirt and straight black pants. His hair combed slickly to his left side, revealing his whole face. His pale pink lips look more radiant since his white skin emphasised by his whole black outfit. His bright eyes look at the entrance and steadily walks upstairs when he sees Jian Kang Lu standing over there.

Jian Kang Lu feels like a feather tickled his heart. The more he meets his kitten, the more he knows that his kitten is nothing like a burning fire, but a warmth sun rays that slowly heat up his grey cold world. Seeps into his bone, engraving his existence in his soul. Giving him the peculiar sense of finding his home.

"I'm not late, am i?"

His kitten asked him in a soft voice. He seems nervous since he didn't see anyone else in the entrance and no one arrived after him.

"No, just right on time. Let's go inside, the concert will start soon. Or you need to go to the restroom first? We're not allowed to go out in 1 hour once the door closes."

He shook his head and spoke with a low voice. "No need, we can just go inside. I'm sorry Jian ge, the taxi driver turns out didn't know the right gate to this concert hall. We took almost 20 minutes outside before we got the right gate. If I knew, I wouldn't reject your offer to pick me up."

Jian Kang Lu gently smiled and said in a doting tone. "That's okay, it was my fault that I didn't give you the warning before. Come, it's cold here outside and you didn't wear any coat."

Both of them walk inside and sit in their respective seats. Not long after, the door closed and the light dimmed. A sign that the concert will start soon. Jian Kang Lu reminds his kitten to turn the phone into silent mode. Few moments later, the stage filled with the orchestra members.

Jian Kang Lu really enjoyed tonight, Yang Jing truly lived up her reputation. She played the Vivaldi 4 season in a different interpretation from her previous record. He used to prefer the Concerto No.4 in F Minor, Op 8 the most. 'Winter'. But this time he loves Yang Jing's interpretation of Concerto No.1, Op 8. 'Spring'. It really describes his mood right now.

Once in a while he took glances toward his kitten face, and his kitten face seems to absorbed in the performance. His pink lips slightly opened sometimes. His honest expression showing his admiration to the performance.

He's glad. He was afraid his kitten would get bored and doesn't like this kind of concert. Not many people willing to sit patiently for hours listening to classical music, and can appreciate the music. Especially young people who prefer to go to pop music concerts.

When the break comes, and the lights come back illuminating the concert hall. He asks whether his kitten is hungry or thirsty. The break allows people to have light snacks and drinks at the buffet outside. They will have 30 minutes intermission time.

When they walk outside and eat some snacks, he asks his kitten whether he likes the performance or is bored to death. His kitten said he never comes to classical concerts before, but he really likes it. The atmosphere and ambience is different compared to hearing the recording. He said thank you for inviting him into this new experience.

Jian Kang Lu saw a little bit of cookies crumble in the corner of his kitten's mouth. At that time, doesn't know which devil took over his body, his hand moves by himself, out of his mind, and wipes the corner of his kitten's lips. Both of them were a bit surprised with his action.

Jian Kang Lu hurriedly said "Sorry, there's a little bit of cookie crumbles there." He tried to maintain his facial expression like this is the most natural thing for people to do for each other. He then diverted his eyes into different directions to control his own emotion.

At that time Mr. Zhong and his daughter walked towards them. He then hurriedly wiped his hand with tissue and tried to divert his kitten's attention from his improper manner before.

"Hello Mr. Zhong. Do you enjoy the performance?"

"I really do. It was a fresh interpretation of Vivaldi. A bit radical, but surprisingly i enjoy it a lot."

"Please let me introduce you to my friend. This is Bai Yutang. Yutang, this is Mr. Zhong and his daughter, Zhong Liu."

His kitten nod and shake their hands. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Zhong, Miss Zhong."

"Oh, are you Doctor Jian relatives? You look so young. Rarely meet young people in this kind of concert."

"No, I'm not. This is also my first time coming to this kind of concert, and I truly appreciate it. All due to Jian Ge kindness inviting me here."

Zhong Liu is glad to see that Doctor Jian's companion is not a female. She then tries to converse with Doctor Jian while his father is talking to this young man. He looks like still in university. She's wondering why this young man was introduced as Doctor Jian's friend. She thought he was his cousin or relatives.

She really enjoys her conversation with Doctor Jian. His knowledge is wide, he can talk quite much about art and paintings. Her major in France. And he's funny enough to make small jokes around the famous controversial paintings. His gesture and his posture shows that his elegance personality is the one that is born with, not something you can fake or imitate.

When the intermission time is almost over, Doctor Jian excuses himself and his friend, saying that they need to go to the restroom first. Zhong Liu is kinda disappointed because Doctor Jian is too polite, all his manner is so gentle but didn't show any sign of wanting to know her more.

She realised that she's not the kind of dazzlingly pretty girl. But she knows that she's a very attractive woman with a great background. Lots of guys out there chasing her, saying that she's the perfect wife material. She decided to meet him again when she accompanied her father on his medical check up.

A lot of handsome men out there. A lot of smart people out there. A lot of kind hearted individuals out there. But a handsome, smart, and kind person is a rare combination. And his father's judgment in someone's personality is almost 100% correct. 

She wants to try her luck, to become the owner of Doctor Jian's heart. She believed that he was the right husband for her.
