The Stars In Your Eyes

Jian Kang Lu had finished dressing himself and sat on the bed, enjoying the show in front of him. His kitten's nervousness was clearly displayed from his anxious face to his small movements. His kitten had changed clothes three times already but didn't ask for his opinion. So Jian Kang Lu just sat obediently waiting for his kitten, letting his eyes pampered with his kitten strip show in front of him.

Doesn't matter what clothes his kitten wears today, he is still the most handsome man in the world. Jian Kang Lu's family was a family that always dressed well and appreciated people who dress themselves well. But it doesn't mean they will despise someone who dresses sloppily. And his kitten never looked sloppy.

His kitten finally settled with the light blue sweater Jian Kang Lu bought for him last year, paired with the dark blue jacket. Personally his kitten looked better in warm colour unlike him, maybe because his kitten's personality was warm. But blue also matched his kitten's complexion well.

"Come gege, I'm done.." His kitten standing in front of him, raised his hands to grab Jian Kang Lu's hand. That hand felt cold.

Jian Kang Lu pulled his kitten to get closer to him. "Can my handsome boyfriend give me a kiss first? I felt too lazy to stand up without a kiss."

His kitten's smile is stiff, but nonetheless the kiss was graciously given to him. They walk together to the car with their hands still clasped together.

In the car, his kitten still looked nervous. His hands didn't hold Jian Kang Lu's hand like usual, and those beautiful fingers were tapping his own knees in a distracting rhythm. Jian Kang Lu can only ruffle his kitten's soft hair slowly every time he has chances, to soothe his kitten's nerve.

"Gege… What if your parents asked me where I lived? Is it not strange if i say i live with you?"

Jian Kang Lu knew very well what his kitten was afraid about. Jian Kang Lu thought about it several times. His family might sense something when he introduces Bai Yutang to them. Even though he won't introduce Bai Yutang as his parent's future son in law at this moment, he needs to get his family to meet the one he loves the most. He needed to slowly prepare his parents.

He never introduced Wu Shen to his parents. In Zhang Min's case, he was easily disguised as a regular hospital colleague. But Bai Yutang will be a whole different case. A young man with a wide age gap, living together with him. Jian Kang Lu knew that his parents were no fools.

"No, it won't. I'll answer for you. No need to be afraid, my family won't bite you."

Jian Kang Lu leaned to his kitten and kissed that soft cheek. "The only one who likes to bite in my family is my handsome baby here next to me."

Bai Yutang was too nervous to respond with his lover's joke. Yesterday he wanted to ask his lover whether they need to bring something. But again, he thought it would be just too weird and might lead to his lover's parents to suspect him even more.

Bai Yutang knew that his lover's family was well off. He believes it won't be like Sun Hongjia's house, but still it makes him nervous when the car enters this luxurious residential area. The big gate in the entrance opened automatically when Jian Kang Lu's car slowly drove near. It recognised the RFID planted inside the car. 

This residential area had their own clubhouse, with their own golf course and swimming pool. Bai Yutang really admires the architect who built this residential area. The jogging course encircling the area was filled with big trees and bicycle lanes.

Soon the car drove and stopped in front of the white painted house with a big gate before the gate opened automatically, and then parked in front of the garage. Jian Kang Lu didn't get off the car immediately when he parked the car. He held his kitten's cold and damp hands.

"Baby, it'll be okay. I guarantee my parents will love you, like I do. You're just so lovable. Don't be afraid, and i can't thank you enough for accompanying me here."

Bai Yutang can't even find his voice. He just nodded his head and tried to smile. He let go of his lover's hand, then got out of the car. He knew his hands were sweaty, he tried to grip his jacket, hoping that his hands were dried when he needed to shake his lover's parents hand.

They walk across the garden and approach the beige coated wooden door. A bunch of big potted plants arranged in front of the house. Jian Kang Lu didn't knock, he just opened the unlocked door.

"Mom, Dad, I'm here."

Jian Kang Lu had notified his parents that he brought his friend to celebrate this Mid-Autumn festival. His mom only said that she was happy, the more the merrier. She didn't even ask which friend Jian Kang Lu brought home.

He didn't see his nephew, it seems his brother and his sister in law haven't arrived yet. But he didn't recognise the black luxurious car parked in front of his parent's house. 

"Kang Lu?"

Jian Kang Lu was hanging his kitten's coat when he saw Auntie Zhou walking towards them from the kitchen. Auntie Zhou was his mother's best friend since they were in high school. Both of them come from wealthy families, attend the same elite girl's boarding school and have been best friends for more than 40 years.

"Hello Auntie Zhou. How are you? Where's uncle?" Jian Kang Lu gives his aunt a big hug like he used to.

"I'm fine. I haven't seen you in ages. Why never visit me, you little brat? Your uncle is in the back with your father." 

"That new hair cut suits you well, Auntie. You looked 10 years younger." Jian Kang Lu turned his head and placed his hands on Bai Yutang's shoulder. He didn't know that Auntie Zhou will be here today. This is out of his expectation.

"This is my friend, auntie. His name Bai Yutang." Jian Kang Lu introduced his kitten. He knows that his kitten is getting even more nervous now. "And this is my mother's best friend, Zhou Qunfei."

Bai Yutang felt it was useless to wipe the sweat in his palm earlier because now he felt sweating all over again. He tried to curve his lips upwards and give the best smile he could. His voice a little bit cracked when he said his greetings.

"Hello Mrs. Zhou."

Bai Yutang felt a little bit awkward when Zhou Qunfei didn't shake his hands immediately, and staring at him as if she was inspecting the fish in the market, trying to judge whether the fish was fresh enough or rotten already.

Bai Yutang felt his eardrum could hear his own heartbeat which loudly thumped inside his chest. Giving the rumbling vibration felt so unfamiliar. The thump thump sound was louder echoing in his ear until he felt his hanging hand finally grabbed by that smooth small hand.

"Hello, you can call me Auntie Zhou. Can i call you Yutang?" 

Her voice was stern and giving a sense of authority. Bai Yutang can't find his own voice under this pressure, he could only nod his head. He was glad his lover's hand didn't leave his shoulder. At least it was giving him a little bit of familiarity, giving him courage.

"Where's mom, auntie?" Jian Kang Lu tried to divert Zhou Qunfei's attention from Bai Yutang. He sensed that his kitten was very tense and nervous.

"Your mom is in the kitchen with JunJun." 

"Come TangTang, I'll introduce you with my mom." Jian Kang Lu put his feet in his house slipper and gave a pair of slippers to his kitten to wear. He instinctively holds his kitten's hand and walks toward the kitchen. 

Bai Yutang still felt Zhou Qunfei's eyes inspecting them, it really makes him uncomfortable. He could not even notice his surroundings. Everything seems blurry. If he was not so nervous, definitely Bai Yutang would notice the big open space living room with paintings and beautiful vases inside.

Bai Yutang slowly released himself from Jian Kang Lu's hands. He knows it will be awkward if his lover's family saw them holding hands together. This is the first time for him meeting his lover's family, he doesn't want to give them the wrong impression.

"Mom, i'm here. What did you cook this year?" Jian Kang Lu greeted his mom who was standing in the kitchen's corner. In the kitchen also standing two other women. One is their cook who has already worked in their house for 30 years, and the other is Wu Yajun.

His mother smiles and walks towards them, giving Jian Kang Lu a big hug before turning her head to look at Bai Yutang.

"Since Qunfei and JunJun was here, Auntie Ming decided to bless us with cooking Osmanthus duck." 

Bai Yutang felt awkward since his lover's mother's eyes also gave him the same inspecting gaze as Auntie Zhou. His feet felt cold and his fingers unknowingly started twitching due to the tension. He doesn't even dare to look at his lover's mother's face. All he could see was a beautiful lady in elegant posture wearing a dark green dress standing in front of him. 

"Mom, this is my friend that I told you over the phone, Bai Yutang. TangTang, this is my mother. You can call her Auntie Lin." Jian Kang Lu's voice sounds so calm, didn't affected by this weird tension in the kitchen. 

"Hello Yutang, nice to meet you. You can call me Auntie Lin."

"Hello Auntie, thank you for having me here today." Bai Yutang tried his best to smile, and gladly because his lover's mother raised her hand and shook his hand immediately, unlike Auntie Zhou.

"And that is Auntie Ming. Blessed her for cooking all those delicious foods since I was little kid. Thanks to her I could grow up well. My mom and kitchen were not destined to be together."

Bai Yutang could see the woman with white hair standing on the kitchen counter and give him a warm smile. Bai Yutang nodded his head deeply. He remembers that Auntie Ming is the cook in the house. He was once determined to ask her about his lover's preferences in food if Bai Yutang met her one day. But today once he met Auntie Ming in person, the cat got his tongue.

"And this one is Wu Yajun, Auntie Zhou's daughter. Hello JunJun, long time no see."

"Hello Jian Ge, I missed you so much. I was hurt when you forgot my birthday last week. You didn't even call. I expect big compensation today."

Wu Yajun already stands besides Lin Caihong, Jian Kang Lu's mom. She was tall, as tall as Bai Yutang. Her slim figure was wrapped in a dark purple wool dress, revealing the perfect figures with right curves in right places. Her dark red mahogany hair flipped to the side, showing the smooth white milky skin and perfectly painted red lips. A long jade silver earring hanging in her delicate ear lobe.

Bai Yutang already felt nauseous with his anxiety, but it was nothing compared to the butterfly inside his stomach now when he saw this beautiful woman greet his lover with a hug and kiss his lover's cheek. 

Bai Yutang could only stand like an ice statue, looking at the beautiful face turn towards him. That perfect peach blossoms eyes and the plump red lips slightly curved, giving him a peculiar smile.

"Hello. Bai Yutang, right? Can I call you TangTang too? Just like Jian Ge calls you."
