The Substitute Bride

Chapter 1749 I Don't Love You

Holley was preoccupied during dinner, but Black didn't seem to care. What mattered to him was her presence.

"Holley, let's go to a bar. It's a more suitable place to have a talk." Black suggested, trying every means he could think of to spend more time with Holley. He didn't want to part from her as of yet.

"Okay." Looking at Black, Holley thought, 'I will do everything I can to satisfy Black's wishes. Besides, tonight might be all we've got.'

The music in the bar was deafening as usual, but everybody seemed to enjoy it as if the loud beats could erase their bad luck and make them get rid of the whammy of the day. The colorful strobe lights flashed around the dance floor, cutting through the dark pool of people wildly grooving.

"Black, what do you want to talk about?" Holley leaned over and asked, not wanting to beat around the bush.

However, Black wasn't ready to talk. Tilting his jaw, he gestured for Holley to look at the dance floor in front of them. Seeing that her eyes followed his, he smiled. "Holley, would you like to dance with me?"

Black offered his hand, waiting for Holley to accept. Caught off-guard, she was hesitant to take it. Her mind was trying its best to calculate what Black wanted to do, but she couldn't find an answer. Feeling helpless, she finally agreed.

As soon as they stepped onto the dance floor, the loud music started to fade. The wild beams of colorful bright lights started to dim, making way for intermittent and slower pulses of faint colors. With a moving ballad now playing, some people walked back to their seats, while others hugged each other as if on cue. Black and Holley hugged each other as soon as the song started, intertwining their bodies on the dance floor like the others. Moving closer to Holley, Black whispered, "Holley, you know how much I love you. Being away from you makes it hard for me to breathe. I just don't want to break up with you, no matter what people think or say

Feeling Black's deep affection, Holley was moved. If not for the dim light in the bar, her red eyes would've given her away. He didn't know how hard she controlled herself now, for the only thing he could feel was her indifference..."

Frowning slightly, Holley pushed Black away. Looking into his eyes, with a serious expression on her face, she asked, "Didn't I make it clear to you last time? Why do

e had never thought Jason would come to the bar.

"Aren't you supposed to be in the hospital?" She couldn't help but ask Jason impatiently, her brows wrinkled as she spoke.

On the other hand, Jason's expression was the exact opposite of Holley's. Looking at her with much affection, he answered joyfully after a long while, "I missed you. I called you, but you rejected it. I told you to come to see me, but you didn't. So I decided to come and see you instead. Surprise! Aren't you happy to see me?"

Jason looked at Holley with pride, expecting her praise, but she didn't look quite happy at all. It wasn't long until he realized that she looked upset.

"Jason, enough! Aren't you clear about our relationship? Until when are you going to keep doing this?"

Holley tried to shake off Jason's grip, not wanting to talk to him, but he wasn't planning to let go. Instead, he grabbed her arm more tightly.

"Holley, don't forget that we are getting married. Do you really think that I will let you go? I want to be with you. Nothing can break us apart."

"But I don't want to!" Holley blurt out without thinking.

Jason laughed knowingly. "What? Let me guess. Is Black in the bar? Don't you want him to see us together?"

Hearing that, Holley didn't look so well. But she didn't retort because there was no point in doing so. Jason finally released her.

"Let's go. I have to go back to the hospital," Jason said, walking towards the passenger side. "You are my fiancée. Shouldn't you take me back?" Smiling, he gave Holley a wink before getting inside her car.
