The Substitute Bride

Chapter 1825 How Long Before I Could Leave The Hospital

Angel knew that Charles wanted to call his family. When he was still unconscious, he kept calling out some woman's name. She figured Charles must love that woman dearly.

But human beings were selfish by nature. Even though Charles was in a coma these past few weeks, Angel had still somehow managed to get attached to him. Even she couldn't understand why she was feeling that way. She didn't want Charles to leave because she wanted Charles to just stay with her forever, so she decided to lie.

As she answered Charles' question, she unconsciously tightened her grip on her cellphone.

Charles was visibly disappointed when he heard Angel. But he didn't blame her. He was grateful to her for taking care of him during his coma. He asked Angel politely, "Well, can you help me ask the nurse?"

"Sure, wait for me. I'll be right back." Angel was a little embarrassed, and she felt guilty about what she did, so she left the ward quickly, hoping that Charles didn't notice anything.

Just as she left the ward, she saw a nurse about to go in.

"Ma'am, will you do me a favor?"

she asked anxiously as she grabbed the nurse's hand. The nurse looked visibly confused.

"Sure, what is it?"

"Charles hasn't fully recovered yet. If he asks to borrow your phone, can you refuse him? I think he wants to call his family so he can go back to work. I just don't think it's good for his recovery. Will you help me?"

"Sure, got it. I can just say that I didn't bring my cell phone." The nurse smiled at Angel.

"Thank you so much," Angel said excitedly.

She breathed a sigh of relief when the nurse agreed to help her. She walked back to the ward with the nurse.

"Sorry, Sir. The hospital is doing network maintenance this morning. Our phones are getting no signal, so I didn't bring my phone with me," The nurse said naturally. Charles wasn't suspicious at all.

Still, he was a little disappointed. However, he didn't show this. He just nodded his head at the nurse and thanked her.

When the nurse left, Angel sat next to Charles and

g Angel and Charles up. Unfortunately, Charles was married.

Charles noticed Franklin's disappointment, but he was confused, not knowing what had upset him.

They chatted for a while until Franklin excused himself and Angel so that they could leave.

Charles was all alone now. He couldn't help but think of what had happened to the company and his family the entire time he was missing.

"Knock, knock!"

"Come in, please."

Charles wondered who was knocking on his door.

When the door opened, a doctor came in.

As the doctor walked inside, he smiled at Charles then he asked politely, "Mr. Lu, how are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling much better. Thank you for asking." Charles flashed a smile at the doctor.

"That's good. I'm going to give you a check-up, okay?" the doctor said and asked a nurse to come inside. They examined Charles.

It took the doctor two hours to finish the check-up.

Charles was exhausted after the check-up. Beads of sweat were forming on his forehead, but he didn't complain. He asked, "Doctor, how long before I can leave the hospital?"

The doctor raised his hand and gestured for Charles to wait.

The results of the check-up weren't supposed to come out until tomorrow. But since Charles was so anxious to know, the doctor decided to speed up the process. It only took five minutes before the results came out.
