The Substitute Bride

Chapter 1894 Lost Her Baby

At that moment, the door of the emergency room opened again.

Black turned the second he heard the door. The nurses brought Holley out on a bed.

"Holley!" Black cried as he rushed over to her. He couldn't wait to see her, and he even forgot to ask the doctors about her.

However, he didn't realize that Holley was unconscious until he was finally next to the bed.

"Doctor, what's wrong..." Black was very worried. He murmured, "Why isn't she waking up? Why? You said she was fine."

"Don't worry! She's fine. It's just that she had a miscarriage, so she's very weak. Right now, she's in a state of narcosis, that's why she's unconscious."

"What? Miscarriage?" Black was so shocked. He couldn't believe that Holley had a miscarriage.

"That's right. There were some complications. This is her first time to be pregnant, right? When she arrived here, she was already experiencing some pain in her womb. That's when she lost the baby," the doctor patiently explained as he looked at Black.

He couldn't help but feel guilty when he saw the miserable look on Black's face.

However, he had to follow an agreement, so he had no choice but to lie to Black.

After a while, it seemed as if Black had recovered and was coming back to his senses. He then took a deep breath and said, "It's fine. We can have another baby again in the future, as long as Holley is safe now."

Black consoled himself. Still, he felt nervous. He knew that it would be more difficult for him and Holley now that they'd lost a baby.

In the ward, Holley was still lying unconscious in the bed. Black was sitting by the bedside with his eyes fixed on her pale face.

"Holley, I'm so sorry that I didn't do a better job taking care of you. From now on, I'm not going to let anything happen to you..." Black held Holley's hands firmly and put them on his face. He looked and felt guilty.

Maybe if he hadn't taken Holley out for a walk in the park, she wouldn't be here right

d his head and saw that Leila was looking at him expectantly.

"All right." Charles didn't refuse Leila; however, he didn't encourage her either.

Leila was overjoyed when Charles didn't refuse her. She walked toward him and helped him put on his coat.

"Charles, I booked a big private room at the Splendid Hotel. We can have dinner there," Leila said with a smile. "I know that you're still upset after what happened to Aunt Melissa. I don't know how else to comfort you. I just think some good food won't hurt. I hope you'll be in a better mood soon."

"Thank you." Charles didn't even look at Leila as he stepped out of the office.

Despite the cold shoulder he was giving her, she was still glad that he had accepted her dinner invitation. That was more than enough for her right now since he just usually ignored her before.

The car stopped at the gate of the hotel. After they got out of the car, Leila had reached out to hold Charles' arm.

When Charles noticed this, his thoughts ran wild. It was almost as if he and Sheryl hadn't separated, and she was holding his arm like she used to.

When he saw Leila's gushing smile, he turned grim and continued to walk into the hotel.

In the private room, an array of delicious dishes had been spread out on the table, ready to be devoured.
