The Substitute Bride

Chapter 2138 A Fever In Bad Weather

"Stella, tell her that if she doesn't leave, I'll call the police," Sheryl added, shouting at the top of her lungs. Everyone in the house would have heard her.

Vicky pushed Stella away and rushed downstairs to see Sheryl, shouting, "What makes you think you can drive me away? You and Charles have already gotten a divorce. Charles asked me to live in this house, so you have no right to drive me away."

"I have no right?" Sheryl sneered. Lowering her head, she took out a document from her bag. Waving the paper in front of Vicky, she said, "Open your eyes wide to see if I'm qualified!"

"What's this?" Vicky looked at the paper carelessly.

"The property ownership certificate of this villa. See whose name is on it!"

Grabbing the document from Sheryl's hand, Vicky carefully looked it over. It was indeed the property ownership certificate for the villa. Reading through it, her eyes widened as she saw Sheryl's name written in bold. With great disbelief, Vicky exclaimed, "No! Charles promised me that he would give me this villa. How could it be yours? How could he..."

"This villa was bought under my name, so now I want to take it back. Do you think I can't do that?" Sheryl sneered.

Sheryl's statement blew Vicky's mind. She seemed to have lost her wits and started murmuring, "How could this be? Why is that? No, I don't want to leave. I will never leave. This is my home, and Charles is my husband..."

"Crazy woman!" Sheryl said with disgust, "Stella, ask the driver to take her away. Throw her luggage out."

Vicky seemed to be unaware of what just happened. She just stood still by the door and kept saying something stupid. She was out of control.

Fifteen minutes later, the servants finally came and dragged Vicky, pushing her out of the gate. Her resistance did not do her good. Shortly after, her luggage was thrown out too.

"Why did you do this to me? Why..." Vicky cried out loudly, standing behind the closed gate. She still couldn't understand how it came to this.

And to make the situation worse, dark clouds started to appear, and big droplets of rain began to fall. Soon it was raining heavily, leaving Vicky drenched in the rain and shivering in the cold.

But no one came out to help her. Standing in the rain, she put her arms around her body to keep warm while slowly walking into the rain, leaving her luggage behind.

In the middle of the night, a sudden thunder and lightning flashed. It had been raining for quite some time now, and it looked like it wouldn't be stopping anytime

what was happening inside. He hurriedly opened the door to check on Clark.

"You okay?" the man standing guard called out tentatively but received no response. It was so dark inside that he couldn't see what was going on.

Clark remained on the ground. Hearing the man's voice, he raised his head with difficulty and tried to grab onto something to prop himself up, but failed. He could feel his body shivering, and his vision was becoming blurry. At last, he fainted with his head tilting to one side.

The guard saw everything with his own eyes. And as he saw the kid fainted on the ground, he rushed over to come to his aid.

Clark's eyes were closed tightly, and his forehead was sweating. His clothes were all wet. Because of the fever, his little face was swollen, and he was short of breath. It looked a little scary.

Before leaving, Rob had asked him to take good care of the little boy. He didn't think any problem would arise since the boy was technically locked up. He couldn't help freaking out now that he saw how bad the boy's condition appeared to be.

"Hey, kid?" he called, but Clark didn't respond. "Are you okay? Wake up!" The guard was nervous, and he tried his best to wake Clark up, but it was in vain. The poor boy remained unconscious. He could feel the heat coming from his body. 'This is bad, really bad, ' he thought.

He was in such a hurry he forgot to call his boss to report what happened. He just bent over and immediately carried Clark out.

He knew that Clark must be ill. Even though he didn't have any experience in taking care of children, he knew that Clark needed to see a doctor as soon as possible. Otherwise, he might die from the fever.
