The System of a Vampire

113 Not my Avatar pt 7

'Finally' thought Draig as he walked through the streets of the nostalgic city, this was the place he had first appeared in this world and where he had gained the opportunity become a Deva. Caught up in his thoughts he didn't notice the incoming assault until it was almost to late but suddenly a talisman was flung out creating a barrier protecting him from his would be attacker.

"So it is you" stated a girl with Chestnut brown hair.

"Do I know you" asked Draig as he couldn't remember meeting a person like this the last time he was here.

"It's me Ari, don't you remember" asked the Girl with a pout.

"I remember an Ari but your a bit different than how I recall" stated Draig as the girl was now getting into her late teens and had experience her own growth spurts.

"Well yeah, it's only natural that I grew up too" laughed Ari thinking Draig to be a silly person.

"I suppose but it is actually great that I found you, I am in need of some information" started Draig causing Ari to smile.

"Sure, I can help but it's gonna cost you" smiled Ari thinking of Draig's charms.

"Alright, let's walk and talk. I need to find a smith that specializes in reforging swords, do you know of any" asked Draig in a business like tone.

"Actually this I am not entirely sure of... but there are rumors of someone that specializes in reforging Graveswords right here in Ichigaku. Though with the type of work he does it's clear he doesn't want just anyone being able to find him, you will probably have to go undercover to find him in the red light district" started Ari hoping to assist Draig so she could acquire some more of his charms.

'Maybe not' thought Draig as he narrowed his eyes looking around the crowded streets, his nose had caught a small whiff of death though it was hard to follow with all the contradicting smells in he air.

It seemed this person was better at hiding than Draig would like.

"I don't think he would hide in the Red light District, it's too obvious. He would probably hide himself in plain sight" commented Draig as he continued walking though he remembered a few  building's so he could return later that night when there wasn't so many people and scents to distract him.

'Thank goodness for the  sensitive nose from the werewolf' thought Draig, he hadn't made a show of it but he was able to fully transform into his higher state now after being locked in the dungeon and having nothing but time he had made an effort of tackling the two task that took the most effort.

That's right Draig's physiology was still that of a hybrid, the blood of the Vampire, Devil, Werewolf flowed through his vein's. This allowed him certain perks from each of the Bloodlines but they were heavily diluted, an example being that if Kira had been there with him then the old wolf would have been able to pin point the Grave Forger's exact location but Draig only possessed a small percentage of the scent tracking capability of the Werewolf.

"So what brings you back, have you learned to become a Deva yet" asked Ari curiously.

"I have not, the reason I need to find this person is because I lack a sword that can cut and thus have a formidable weapon capable of slaying demons" explained Draig.

"Oh, well I haven't either. Neither did Yuki, so when do you think you would be going to the Deva academy" asked Ari in a slightly demanding tone causing Draig to look towards the girl curiously.

"After I have collected my sword and trained with its shape." explained Draig though he was still curious why it was important that she know when he was going.

"I see, well I just wanted to know because me, Yuki, and a few of the other Lord's children will be attending at the same time in order to increase our chances of surviving" explained Ari which caused Draig to raise his brow.

'Survive' thought Draig.

"Tell me why would you all need to group together to survive" asked Draig with interest.

"Well once one enters the academy they won't be able to leave until they can show a certain level of mastery over their Avatar" explained Ari

"That still doesn't explain why you would need to group together to survive" stated Draig hoping to get a more detailed answer.

"The Deva academy isn't like normal schools where one would be sheltered and fed, the Deva academy is more like it's own country where anything is allowed and Demons run amok. The biggest problem is that the number of enemies never dwindles as the Academy accepts new students daily keeping a fresh supply of unknowns. So suriving by oneself is a difficult task against these odds" explained Ari causing Draig to raise a brow in interest.

"So no one is allowed to leave until they can pass some sort of test" asked Draig as this sounded like something the Founder would have thought of.

"That is correct" nodded Ari

"And no one is able to spy on you from the outside" continued Draig curiously.

"Well there is a time once a month where the Deva in training can send out letters and receive a monthly supply of rations if they can beat a preselected opponent" answered Ari wondering what was going through Draig's head.

"Then I should hurry and get my sword" chuckled Draig as he cut through the crowd with excitment in each one of his steps.

'Why is he so jolly suddenly' wondered Ari with a shake of her head.

Draig however was distracted with his own thoughts, he recalled a conversation that a few of the weaker willed Heirs had with him explaining that their children were training to become Deva since the death of their grandfather. This was one of the reasons that Draig had become so excited, it seemed he would be able to cause more pain to this Dynasty for their actions against him.
