The System of a Vampire

59 The Blood is Thickening

Draig turned his head to see two older men who had graying hair, the two may have seemed ordinary but there was an instinctual course through his blood.

"Young man how did you get in here" asked the old man who had spoken previously.

"I walked through the door" came the simplified response but the two old men seemed to have gained interest.

Making eye contact they appeared to have a conversation mentally before turning back to Draig.

"Tell me did you happen to meet our doorman" asked the old man as Draig felt a stronger course through his veins.

"Are you talking about the one with the scar over his lips" asked Draig calmly resisting the sensation.

The old men once again looked at each other, after a moment they nodded to one another.

"That is indeed him, did he allow you to enter this manor" asked the old man who was by now becoming the apparent Lord of the Manor.

"I suppose if you consider his weakness to be permission then that is the case, tell me old man. What is this place" asked Draig feeling a sudden burning of his blood but his face remained straight.

"INSOLENT" cried the second old man.

"Enough Balethor, young man I assume you are one of the scion that was in the other worlds so I will look past your folly just now. I am Agris Bloodburn" explained the newly identified Agris

"I see, I am indeed one of these so called scion you speak of. Tell me Agris who is the Lord of this manor" asked Draig trying to confirm his thoughts.

"That would be me and my brother Balethor, tell me young man what is your name" asked Agris a light seeming to gleam in his eyes.

"Draig or rather as my mother would call me Drevitch, I am quite interested in the workings of the society of Vampires though my impression of your common nobles is rather bleak" began Draig only to feel a tingle in the air causing him to dodge.

"Balethor" shouted Agris who turned to look at his brother.

"Agris, this child needs to learn the proper manner of addressing his superiors and kin" explained Balethor but a small cut was visible on his cheek.

"Balethor, your cheek" uttered Agris looking at the slender pole that extended from the darkness to swipe a bit of the blood before retracting.

"Stale, but I do find your skill to be interesting" came the voice of Draig who was now looking at Balethor with a bit of animosity.

"Young man, no Drevitch please take me to your mother so I may speak to her. This of the utmost importance." began Agris who looked as if he had found a treasure.

Balethor on the side was touching the wound on his cheek that was slowly healing but his eyes were glowing unnaturally as he tasted his own blood.

'This brat has spirit at least' thought Balethor as he followed behind Agris.

"I am sorry that I cannot accede to your request but if you are looking for my mother than it should be none other than Elisa" answered Draig as he walked passed the the old duo seemingly to continue his exploration.

The two widened their eyes upon hearing the identity of his mother which Draig noted for later, he was no longer in the human world thus it would not be appropriate to behave similarly. He needed to better his understanding of the current society of Vampires.

"Very well young man, I can tell you are prudent in your goals but I would like to advise you to head to the library and in this instance I will allow you to use our own personal study. I would like you to have a thorough understanding of the world you will now be staying before you cause trouble you can't handle" said Agris turning his head and walking to the entrance of the manor.

Draig did not respond as he continued walking through the halls but the moment the two were out of sight he began clutching his veins as if trying to rub away a stinging pain.

'That old man isn't as simple as he seems, then again that is to be expected of the one who lords over this branch of the Bloodline' thought Draig using ice magic to ease the burning in his veins which seemed to have worked.

'Absorbing Dracule should have given me the status of Emperor due to blood purity. It stands to reason that it was not as simple as I had thought and there are many Vampires with the status of emperor serving under the one who holds the title of Emperor. The real question is just how many are out there' pondered Draig

Far away several youths of varying ages were demonstrating abilities far beyond mortal comprehension, but there was one man that stood out among the rest who was accompanied by a female who was just as vicious.

"Your highness's, your father would like to speak to you" reported a meek looking Vampire and a special feature to take note of was the places where his fangs were supposed to be were empty.

"Very well, tell father that we will be along shortly" stated the female as the slender looking man wearing crimson armor began trekking towards and illustrious looking castle.

Similarly elsewhere other were being beckoned to their elders though it was unknown the reason.

Meanwhile Draig was immersing himself in and old decrepit library.

"These old men really need a cleaner" coughed Draig trying not to inhale the dust.

It was unknown to Draig though that he had actually gone somewhere much more bountiful than a mere study.
