The Target Always Thinks That I Like Him!
Chapter 6.03
Chapter 6.03 – Difficult To Get Along
Xiang Han didn’t have any objection towards Xu Yan Ze’s words. He could understand, it was just that…
He touched his grumbling tummy and carefully asked, “Do you have anything to eat?”
The original host had been abandoned yesterday morning, so he hadn’t even had a single drop of water till now. After dropping his vigilance, he began to feel extremely hungry. He sighed internally, wondering how long it had been since he was starved.
Xu Yan Ze also heard his soft voice and silently glanced at him before shifting his gaze towards a shelf.
Xiang Han followed his gaze and discovered two cans of potato chips which had fallen over.
Joy surged through his heart and he quickly jogged over, intending to eat it before he caught a glimpse of the expiry date.
Beardy immediately understood what he was thinking and sneered. “It’s already a blessing to be able to find food, you still want to be picky? Truly a young master.”
If it weren’t because his backpack had no more space, he wouldn’t have left these two cans behind.
Sadness filled his heart as he recalled that even at the lowest point in his life, he still had two packets of nutrient solution to drink. Yet these potato chips were left overs from others. Damn this apocalyptic world.
Thinking of this, he agitatedly stuffed the potato chips into his mouth and crunched loudly.
This made Xu Yan Ze frown. He suddenly appeared in front of him and whispered, “Be quiet.”
Unfortunately, this made Xiang Han choke. He was crouched on the ground so he could only look up, with one hand on his neck and the other one madly waving towards Xu Yan Ze. “Wat…er…”
Xu Yan Ze was silent for a moment before he suddenly removed his glove. With a slight flick of his finger, an icicle appeared from thin air.
Dumbfounded, Xiang Han could only stare dazedly.
“There’s no water, make do with this,” Xu Yan Ze threw the icicle towards him and said coldly.
Meanwhile, in his heart, Xiang Han was cursing ‘wtf’. Was this an ability? Seeing it in person was completely different from reading about it from a novel. No wonder he wasn’t afraid of the heat and suffered facial paralysis to a greater extent than in the previous world.
The weather was warm so the icicle melted quickly. Xiang Han clasped it with two fingers and tilted his head to lick it as his mind wandered.
For some reason, Xu Yan Ze actually gave him a couple of additional glances before looking away. He silently evaluated: Like a kitten. He was probably a pampered little prince. Tsk, how troublesome!
Beardy’s eyes nearly fell out as he exclaimed in his heart: F*ck, how dirty! It’s actually a cylinder shape. Is this deliberate? Captain Xu, I never expected you to be so bold.
After licking the icicle, Xiang Han gave a satisfied burp. Perhaps it was due to the heat and low quality food, he put the potato chips back and circled around the supermarket. He stuffed a few packets of seeds into his pockets before walking towards the guard post. He poked the member holding a pair of binoculars and whispered, “Take a break. I’m here.”
Tan Wei didn’t have any goodwill towards him at all because Xiang Han nearly attracted the zombies and increased their workload. But it was never his principle to slap a smiling person. Moreover, this person didn’t do it deliberately so he quickly made space for him and reminded him, “Just watch that district over there. You must watch both near and far distances, you mustn’t be careless.”
“Alright, alright.” Xiang Han nodded and crouched down to take a look before asking. [Little Nine, how’s the progress of the map download?]
System: [The city’s map has completed downloading, currently downloading other regions.”
“Oh.” Xiang Han made a sound and asked, [Then, can it tell where the zombies are?]
System didn’t reply but directly displayed a 3D panoramic view in his head.
A zombie abruptly appeared in front of Xiang Han, scaring him witless. “Decrease the proportion. Do you want to scare me to death?”
After adjusting the ratio, Xiang Han realised this map was simply too useful; like a CCTV. Not only did it display the real-time situation, it could also display a count of the total number of zombies in the area and the distance between them. He merely needed to circle around the city once.
[Big A, Little Nine, help me to keep an eye on this area. Shout for me immediately once a zombie is near.]
Big A: […]
Xiang Han was bored and tired. After laying down the instructions, he held the binoculars and fell asleep.
Many people in the supermarket were asleep because there were people keeping watch.
Xu Yan Ze didn’t sleep. Instead, he picked up the rest of the potato chips Xiang Han left behind and put them back into a package.
Some time passed and Xiang Han’s head began to rise and fall.
By chance, Xu Yan Ze caught a glimpse of it and his face sunk. He walked over with heavy steps and saw Xiang Han was indeed fast asleep. Cold air exuded from his body as he snatched the binoculars over. Once he made sure there was no problem, he kicked Xiang Han’s calves.
Xiang Han woke up with a start and wiped his sweaty face while glancing around. “What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong?” Xu Yan Ze crouched down and said through gritted teeth. “Is this how you keep watch? Sleeping like a pig, you wouldn’t even know when you’ve been eaten by a zombie.”
Xiang Han was finally awake. After determining the situation, he couldn’t help feeling somewhat guilty. He had been too tired and only intended to catch a quick nap. He didn’t expect to fall so deeply asleep and was even caught.
Although he had System and Big A to keep watch, Xu Yan Ze didn’t know it so it was natural for him to be angry.
Faced with his dark expression, Xiang Han could only howl in grief silently. When they’d just met, Xu Yan Ze already didn’t have a good impression of him. In just half a day, he had offended the latter once more. Tsk, courting death. How could he proceed with his mission?
Xiang Han considered for a moment before he started cautiously, “Actually… I haven’t slept for many days. I couldn’t help it and dozed off… for a bit.”
He had exaggerated a little but it was true that after being abandoned, the original host hadn’t rested for a day and night.
Unfortunately, Xu Yan Ze’s expression didn’t ease up in the slightest. Instead, it grew worse. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
Xiang Han glanced at him and said softly, “You were too fierce, I didn’t dare to…”
These words made Xu Yan Ze choke. After some time, he squeezed out a single sentence. “Scram to one side and sleep.”
Xiang Han quickly rolled over and made space for him. But before he could get up, he was dragged back.
“In the future, you must raise it early if you have a problem. You need to be responsible for yourself and others. Otherwise, you can leave our team.”
Xu Yan Ze wrinkled his brows and sure enough, had some lingering fears. He believed that if it wasn’t for having found out in time, this lad would have been fast asleep even until a zombie appeared in front of him. When that time comes, ten of him wouldn’t be enough to pay for this.
That’s why he already said that pampered rich second generation were extremely troublesome. A small matter like this couldn’t even be handled properly. His brain must have short-circuited for him to agree to take this lad along to Shuguang base.
It was probably due to his fear that Xu Yan Ze no longer allowed Xiang Han to keep vigil.
After the sun set, the sleeping people woke up and everyone gathered to eat some dried rations. They consisted of expired potato chips, biscuits, etc. Only a piece of cured meat seemed decent. Everyone pinched a little and ate it along with their biscuits while water came from the icicles Xu Yan Ze materialised. It not only cured thirst, but also the heat.
Xiang Han also ate a few expired biscuits and thought his stomach wouldn’t be able to handle it. Unexpectedly, he slept through the night without any ill-effects and only woke up in the middle. Looks like the original host didn’t have a good time in the apocalyptic world. Even his stomach no longer threw a tantrum.
Xiang Han turned around with a peace of mind and prepared to continue sleeping, but suddenly heard the system’s reminder that there were a large number of zombies approaching.
Xiang Han immediately lost his sleepiness. After looking at the map, he felt his scalp tingle.
“A zombie wave?” He immediately sat up straight and his expression grew solemn.
According to the information, a wave of zombies coincidentally passed through City X during this period of time. Xu Yan Ze knew about it from a survivor and decided to make preparations for this day.
“Probably. In any case, there aren’t just a few,” Big A said unenthusiastically.
“Why would these fellas migrate? They aren’t even birds.” Xiang Han circled the map distractedly and found there were more than ten thousand. Speechless, he turned to look at the glass doors covered with newspapers and sank into silence.
He cautiously walked to the window nearby and looked out.
Seeing him approach, Xu Yan Ze unconsciously frowned and made a signal for him to back away.
Xiang Han retreated a few steps but didn’t leave. Instead, he crouched beside him and moved closer. He said softly, “There’re more zombies outside. Will the city… be able to hold out?”
Hot breath sprayed across his cheek, carrying a strange feeling.
Xu Yan Ze instinctively tried to put some distance between them and replied coldly, “I don’t know.”
Indeed, he didn’t know because this was a situation without any certainty. As long as they weren’t discovered, tens of thousands of zombies passing by wouldn’t be a problem. But once they were discovered, ten was enough to stifle them.
Xu Yan Ze was feeling frustrated but it wasn’t because of the zombies but this rich second generation… Why did he come so close? Speak, if you want to speak. Why do you lean in so much?
He only knew how to sleep in the day but became so energetic at night. Even without a topic, he could find one to chat about.
He hadn’t even seen much difference in the zombies through his binoculars but this lad only needed to glance outside the window? He couldn’t be planning to seduce him under the cover of the night, right?
Xu Yan Ze wasn’t a saint, but he didn’t just welcome anybody. This lad’s identity wasn’t common. Currently, he was just down on his luck so he was able to put down his status. But once they reached the base, where would he care about them? It wouldn’t be bad if he didn’t skin them alive.
Just as he was pondering this dilemma, Xiang Han suddenly pushed him and came closer to his ear to speak. “Outside the window… did it see us…mmh!”
Xu Yan Ze abruptly covered his mouth and also held his breath.
