The Universe Conspired For Us To Meet

Daniel West was at his home celebrating Christmas Eve with his wife and family. At that time his residential phone rang. Daniel West went to answer the phone, "Hello!"

"Hello Sir. This is James calling from India." One of the members of Daniel West's special appointed team sent to India to find information about Jayne said on the other side of the phone.

"Yes James. Did you guys reach safely? What are the updates?" Daniel West asked James over the phone.

"Yes Sir. We reached here safely at C city. But…" He hesitated to tell further.

"But what?" Daniel did not know why he was hesitating to speak.

"Sir the thing is, there was a bomb blast this morning at the Army Hospital where the flood victims records were maintained. All the records have been destroyed. So we don't know what to do next. We're waiting for further orders from you Sir." James said on the other side.

"Oh? Is it? I don't know how Boss will react on hearing this. It's still night here. I guess Boss will be asleep and I can't disturb him now. You guys check in at the hotel reserved for you. I will get back to you in the morning on the hotel's number," saying which Daniel West hung up.

Daniel West waited for the next day. He called up on Ronnie's landline.

Ronnie who had finished eating with Jayne was still cuddling with her on the sofa. He hesitated to get up and part with her to go and receive the call.

"Tring! Tring! Tring!"

"It must be something important darling. Go answer the call." Jayne said to Ronnie.

"Nothing is more important to me than you right now Jayne. That can wait." He planted a kiss on her cheeks.

"Ronnie!" She pushed him away and freed herself and ran to the kitchen.

Cursing the caller, Ronnie walked towards the phone.

"Hello? Who's this?" Ronnie asked in an irritated voice.

Sensing that his Boss was irritated by the call, Daniel realised it was a wrong timing to have made that call, "B-Boss! G-Good morning and a Merry Christmas to you and Madam!" Daniel West nervously said over the phone.

Ronnie remembered how Daniel had set up the entire proposal. So he felt slightly better "Merry Christmas to you too Dan!" Ronnie replied.

"Boss thank you so much! " Daniel was relieved and thanked heavens inwardly for his Boss's peaceful reply.

"What is it that you are calling me instead of celebrating with your wife?" Ronnie asked obviously annoyed.

"Boss bad news regarding the team we sent to India!" Daniel West said hurriedly.

"Bad news? Mmm, that's up to me to decide whether it's good or bad news. Go on!" Ronnie said.

Then, Daniel West narrated everything with other important information he could gather from the diplomatic level bulletins.

While Daniel was updating him on everything, Ronnie was gazing at Jayne who was in the kitchen back into her usual dancing mode while she was cleaning the mess they'd created while they were fooling around a while back.

Ronnie observed how Jayne transformed into a completely new individual while dancing. That smile on her face was warming his heart.

'Who said this is bad news? It's the best news I could hear right now. I'm not ready to let her go no matter what.' He thought inwardly.
