The Unsurpassed Maiden

"What? Why would you think that's a good idea?" Mi Young asks.

"I mean, we can open it at the same time to see what's inside. I'll go stand at the front of the other door that has a dark aura and you go stand in front of that door." The other party says while he points at the door which glows the brightest light.

"But that would be risking your life." Mi Young tries to protest. "You said it yourself, that door over there contains a very dark aura."

"I know but we wouldn't be able to know if it's safe to go inside that one even though it has a bright glow. I mean, their doors are connected." Hae Choon reasoned out as well.

The black haired girl gets his point but she doesn't want to risk Hae Choon's life again. Not when the other party had sacrificed so much for her well being. So with a determined look , Mi Young says, "Fine. I'll agree with your stupid plan but—"

"Hey it's not stupid!"

"—But I'll be the one standing in front of the door with the dark aura." Mi Young continues to say even though the boy had cut her off.

"Okay. Wait—what? No! That would be dangerous!" Hae Choon announces while shaking his head disapprovingly. "I won't let you risk your life! Whatever lies beyond that door is very dangerous. Trust me, I have witnessed the things Dark Magic can do to anyone."

"I trust you. But you have to trust me on this one too." The black haired girl replies while giving Hae Choon a serious look. "I won't let you risk your life again just for me."

"But Mi Young—"

"Hae Choon please."

Hae Choon closes his mouth the moment he hears the gentle plea in the young girl's voice. Whatever he was about to say was swallowed down his throat. The tall man lets out a defeated sigh before saying, "Fine. But the moment we see what's inside both doors, we go inside the door with the brightest light, okay?"

"Okay." Mi Young says with a nod.

"Promise me you won't do anything stupid." Hae Choon says while raising his pinky finger.

The black haired student rolls her eyes at the other party upon seeing his childish acts. But nonetheless, she raises her pinky as well and interlocks it with Hae Choon's own pinky. "I promise."

Hearing the sincerity in the young girl's voice, Hae Choon nodded his head while offering her a small smile. The black haired girl copied his movements and returned a smile as well.

Both of them walked towards the two doors with Mi Young positioned in front of the door on the left which was emitting a dark aura, while Hae Choon stood on the other door on the right.

Hae Choon throws a look at the young student, "Ready?"

"Ready." Mi Young replies with a definite nod.

The tall man grabs the doorknob using his left hand and slowly turns it around so he can open both doors.

The moment both the doors were open something cold and creepy immediately welcomes the black haired girl while she stands in front of the door emitting a strong and dark aura.

Mi Young couldn't even see Hae Choon anymore or feel or hear everything going on around her. The only thing she could feel and hear was the constant cold yet melodic voice of a woman calling out to her.

'Come, child. Open your eyes. See everything inside. All the questions you've been longing to ask will be answered if you walk inside here. Come child.  Find me and you will know.'

 

"Who are you?" The young  student managed to ask despite the huge temptation coursing all throughout her system.

The cold voice seemed to chuckle at her before it answered, 'Come inside and find me and you will know.'

 

The black haired girl's eyes were completely blank as she continued to stare ahead of her. Slowly, she sees dark mist creeping and looming just beneath her feet, she realized it was coming from the other side of the door.

'Come, child. Find me and your questions will all be answered.' The cold voice says once more.

This made the black haired girl step forward. She couldn't resist the huge temptation anymore. She wants nothing but to find answers for everything. From the very first moment her father told her that her mother was gone to the moment why she was currently trapped inside this sick and ruthless headquarters, Mi Young wanted to find answers for them all.

'That's it, child. Come. Come and embrace me.' The black haired girl hears the cold voice say. It was cunning and very tempting. And even though the voice is cold and filled with so much mystery, Mi Young couldn't help but feel like she had heard that voice before.

Mi Young steps forward towards the door with the dark aura. However, the moment she was about to take another step closer towards the door, a firm grip stopped her.

"Stop."

Mi Young blinks twice before her vision finally clears. Her mind, that was constantly foggy earlier, was now filled with fear. The black haired girl immediately retracts from Hae Choon's hold, thinking that he was an enemy.

When she realized that it was only her friend, the black haired student immediately relaxed.

"What happened to you?" Hae Choon asks while he pushes Mi Young away from the door, grabs the doorknob, and closes the two conjoined doors once more. He walks towards the black haired student before putting both of his arms on top of her shoulders. "Mi Young, are you okay?"

The moment she hears Hae Choon's warm and soft voice, Mi Young breaks down. The black haired girl was shaking as she felt the hot tears streaming down her face. She doesn't even know why she was crying. The only thing she wanted to do was sit in the corner and cry.

Mi Young was suddenly filled with so much fear which confuses her even more because, what happened and why would she be scared?

"Mi Young!" The tall man cries out the moment he sees the hot tears streaming from the young girl's eyes. To him, Mi Young looked like his little sister that he needed to take care of. She looks so fragile and hurt. Hae Choon didn't even blink twice as he wraps the young girl in his arms and embraces her to comfort her. "Shush. It's okay, I'm here. Don't be scared, Mi Young. I'm here."

The two of them stayed like that for a minute or two. None of them were saying anything, only Mi Young's constant sobs echoed all throughout the empty and quiet room.

When the black haired girl finally stops crying, she gently pulls out from Hae Choon's warm embrace.

"Thank you." The young girl starts to say while she wipes off the tears that have run down her face. "And I'm sorry for having tears and snot all over your shirt."

Hae Choon offers her a small smile. "It's soiled anyway so it's fine."

The black haired girl didn't know what to reply to the other party so she just offered him a small and shy smile in return.

A couple of minutes later, Hae Choon finally opened his mouth to ask, "Are you fine now? What happened  back there?"

Mi Young shivers the moment she remembers the small incident that had happened just earlier while she was standing in front of the door with a dark aura. She can still feel the coldness seeping through her whole body even though she was a few feet away from the door.

And the voice, Mi Young couldn't stop herself from shaking when she remembered how the voice sounded.

"It's okay if you're not ready to tell me yet." Hae Choon suddenly comments out when he sees the shiver and the goosebumps on the girl's body.

Mi Young instantly looks up when he hears the other party's voice, while shaking her head and waving her hands in front of the other, Mi Young says, "No. No, it's fine. I just had a small flashback about the incident earlier. It's fine. I can tell you now."

"Are you sure?" Hae Choon asks while giving the younger party a concerned look. "Mi Young, you don't have to force yourself and act brave in front of me. If you're scared, or embarrassed, you can keep your mouth shut. I wouldn't mind."

"Really, it's fine—"

"The only thing that matters to me is that if you're feeling okay already." Hae Choon continued saying without waiting for the young girl to finish her sentence.

The black haired girl nodded her head while she offered another small smile at the taller man. "Yes, I'm fine, thank you."

Hae Choon nodded his head while returning the same smile as the girl. "That's good to know."

Then, the male looks at the doors before he says, "Why don't we sit for a while first just to make sure that you're really okay? Yeah?"

"That would be great.." The young girl answers with a genuine smile.
