The Unsurpassed Maiden

Mi Young laughs at Zhong Yu's face. "I was just kidding. Don't be mad."

The other party rolls his eyes at the young girl one more time before sighing. "Fine. I'll let you go this time. If you ever say that again…"

The black haired girl playfully moved her hands towards her lip and made an action like she was zipping her mouth.

For a while, the two of them continued walking along the desert with a comfortable silence. None of them said anything since their minds were already filled with their own thoughts.

The black haired girl bites her lip as she remembers Kwang Soo and Jang Hoon again. She closes her eyes as she hopes that the two of them are still alive and waiting for her.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the headquarters.

"Do you think she's still alive?" The tall and buff man asks while he grips the metal that was separating both of him and the smaller figure.

Kwang Soo looks up from where he was sitting on the floor and asks, "Who?"

"Your girlfriend. Do you think she's still alive?"

"Of course she's still alive. That kid is talented. I'm sure she has already found someone powerful that would help us get out of here." Kwang Soo says while raising an eyebrow at the other figure. "And she's not my girlfriend."

The buff man didn't say anything after that, he just let out a huge sigh before saying, "I just hope you're right. She's so small, how do you keep your 100% trust for someone as small as that?"

"She might be small but she's filled with potential. She can do a lot of amazing things for someone her age." Kwang Soo replies. For some reason, he was getting irritated with the way this man is scrutinizing his friend.

"Oooh someone's defending somebody." Jang Hoon teases while wiggling his eyebrows at Kwang Soo suggestively.

The younger male answers him with a stoic expression. "Of course I would defend her, she's my friend."

"Is she really just a friend?"

Kwang Soo had enough. He rolls his eyes at the man before he finally turns his body away. Jang Hoon, of course, reacted violently. "Hey! We're still talking! Stop acting like a girl and face me like a man!"

The younger male can still hear the buff man's cries as he continues calling out for him. After a couple of seconds, the guards which are now constantly guarding them finally steps forward and warns him.

"If you don't shut up now we're going to have you sealed."

That reality did shut the man up. Earlier, when they found out the black haired girl escaped and that the two of them were both helping her, they sealed them using these weird collars on their neck which completely stops their mana from flowing all over their body. For Mage people, having your mana stop flowing through your system is like having your blood stop circulating inside your body. It's really weird and it makes you completely weak and vulnerable.

After a while, when they managed to move Kwang Soo and Jang Hoon to a different room with only two separated cells, they removed the collars around the two males neck which made them somehow relieved despite their situation.

"Ah, I miss eating at my favorite restaurant." The buff man suddenly says while he sits on the cold floor of his own cell. Kwang Soo hears his head softly hitting the grills that separate them before the man adds, "I should have told that waitress there that I liked her, especially when she cut her hair short."

The young male didn't move from where he was sitting as he continued listening to the other party who kept on going on about the brown haired waitress who always serves him at his favorite restaurant. He also kept on talking about his favorite dish, along with his favorite wine. He said he likes going there after his fights. Kwang Soo also heard him say something if anyone out there misses him.

"But I'm sure as hell no one would miss a mean man like me." Jang Hoon says with a defeated sigh. He let out a chuckle but it sounded more sad than joyful. "I wonder if I will still be able to see the sun. I really like sunny weather, you know? How about you, kid?"

"Shut up!" One of the soldiers yelled while he pointed at Jang Hoon. "If you don't shut the hell up we will be forced to put a collar around you!"

After that, Jang Hoon finally went silent. It took a couple of minutes before Kwang Soo finally opened his mouth to say a soft and small, "I like sunny weather as well."

The small grunt and chuckle coming from the other party was enough to assure Kwang Soo that despite being in his situation, at least he's not alone.

"So? If we ever get out of this hellhole, what would be the first thing you would do?" Mi Young asks while she and Zhong Yu continue walking along the empty and never ending desert.

"I don't know? Tell Ning Gwang I'm sorry I guess?" Zhong Yu answers with a shrug.

"You really like her, don't you?" Mi Young asks while giving the other party a sly look.

However, instead of answering her with words, the man only shrugged and gave her a wink in reply.

"I thought you like her cousin though?"

"What? Shin Yu? That woman is a monster!" Zhong Yu suddenly says while his face contorted like an angry beast. Then, he put his fingers against his eyebrows and made it look like they were both connected. "She always has her eyebrows like this! She's scary!"

Zhong Yu even shivered while talking about the other woman which made Mi Young think how she was the only person who knew where Zhong Yu went for a couple of years.

The other party might have seen her puzzled expression because the next second he started explaining.

"I know about her hidden feelings towards me…so it's not completely hidden. Anyway, I like Shin Yu but not the way I like Ning Gwang. She's fun if she's not mad but what can I do? It's not her that I like." Zhong Yu says with a genuinely sad expression. "And the reason why I only showed up to her was because I knew she wouldn't break my trust. Of all the people I knew, only Shin Yu kept her promise with me. So that's why she was the only person I showed up to a couple of times."

"Does she know—"

"Do I like her cousin? Yes. I told her a couple of years ago. She never said anything back to me so I assumed she understood." Zhong Yu explains with a shrug.

"Ah. So that's why." The black haired girl suddenly says while shaking her head.

"What? What do you mean?" Zhong Yu asks while looking at her with a confused expression.

"Well, me and Lady Ning Gwang met her a couple of days ago." Mi Young starts to say.

"Who? Shin Yu?"

The black haired girl nodded her head. "Uhn. The moment she saw Lady Ning Gwang, she threw an ice dagger at her."

Instead of being mad, Zhong Yu suddenly burst out in fits of laughter which puzzled the black haired girl. "Why? Why are you laughing? Shouldn't you be mad at her for attacking Lady Ning Gwang?"

"You think Shin Yu is mad at Ning Gwang because I told her I like her older cousin more than her? Please, they have had this huge misunderstanding going on between them for years." Zhong Yu explains with a small smile. "Shin Yu admires Ning Gwang so much that it hurt her when the older woman left her alone."

"Oh."

"They're both intellectual people. They wouldn't stop talking just because of a random guy like the other."

"You're not just a random guy though." The black haired girl mumbles to herself. However, Zhong Yu heard her still.

"Thank you for the compliment. To you and your generation I might be a legend or a myth. But to the five of them, I am just Zhong Yu. Well, for Ning Gwang I'm the little Zhong." The man says while crossing his arms and rolling his eyes at no one in particular. "Which irritates me because clearly, I'm cooler than Zhong Liu."

The black haired girl didn't say something after that, she just let out a laugh that shocked Zhong Yu. When she noticed the other party's sudden stillness, Mi Young instantly stopped laughing. "I'm sorry. Am I too loud?"

"Uh no? You just reminded me of someone when you laughed." Zhong Yu says while gently shaking his head.

"I for sure don't have a laugh like Lady Ning Gwang." Mi Young says.

Zhong Yu chuckles at that. "No. Definitely not. You reminded me of someone else."

"Who?"

"A girl I met some time ago."

"What? Your lover?"

"No way." Zhong Yu says while defending himself. "She might be awesome but Ning Gwang is still the best for me."

"Whatever. Tell me about this girl.." The young girl suddenly says while looking at the man with pleading eyes.
