The Unsurpassed Maiden
Chapter 55 - 55 - Capture The Flag
After the first team fight, with Mi Young's team hailed as the first winners, the class battle continued with the other teams from different factions fighting with one another.
Se Heon was moved to a much more private room where only his family members can visit. Mi Young protested at first but Ji Sung promised her that she can still visit Se Heon whenever she wants. The black haired girl only relaxed when she heard Ji Sung say that.
After that, Mi Young was sent to the arena where her other teammates were waiting for her.
"Mi Young! How is he?" Jong In asks as soon as Mi Young arrives.
"He's fine. Although he's in a coma and might not wake up sooner." Mi Young answers with a sad smile.
Jong In knows that the other girl was really concerned about her friend so he only hugs Mi Young before telling her that everything's going to be fine.
After the final set of teams battled, all of the winning teams were gathered together in the arena.
There were a total of ten winning teams; three teams from the Pyro faction, three teams from the Anemo faction, and two teams each from the Geo and Hydro faction.
"Now that the class battle between the factions is finally over, let us call on the ten teams that have conquered part one of our class battle event!" The MC announces.
The crowd went wild when they saw all of the teams walking and gathering together at the center of the arena.
"Look! All the freshmen from the Four Great Clans have won!"
"As expected from the direct descendants of the Big Four."
"Is it just me or does Shin Shang Min have gotten stronger and bolder?"
"Park Min Ji also delivered a very strong prowess during her one on one battle earlier."
"I don't care about you guys but the twins are amazing!"
Mi Young ignored all of the cheers and shouts coming from the people watching from the bleachers, all she could think about was Se Heon.
Noticing the lack of response from the black haired girl, Jeon Shi Yun walked closer towards her and stood in front of the girl until Mi Young finally lifted her head.
"What?" Mi Young asks while looking at Shi Yun who resembled his older brother so much.
"Stop thinking about Se Heon for a minute and focus on the battle." Shi Yun deadpans.
"You're only saying that because you don't care if your brother die—"
"He's still my older brother no matter how much we bicker and argue…" Shi Yun starts, he wasn't looking at Mi Young anymore but instead, his eyes were looking into space, as if he's recalling a beautiful memory of him and Se Heon. Then, Shi Yun clears his throat, as if he's embarrassed that he was caught thinking about his older brother. "Anyway, Se Heon will be alright. It may take some time before he wakes up but at least he's not going to die. Now, focus on winning in this competition and you will be able to brag about this to Se Heon once he wakes up."
Mi Young was at a loss for words. She was only gaping and looking at Shi Yun like he had just grown eight heads. The boy finds it annoying and so he asks in an irritated tone, "What?"
"Nothing." Mi Young says as she averts her gaze away from Shi Yun's. "It was the first time you said something more than three sentences."
Mi Young might be looking away from the raven haired boy but she knows that his face was all red again. "Just shut up and focus!"
Mi Young was about to retort something back when a thought popped in her mind, "Wait a minute, how did you know about Se Heon's condition?"
Shi Yun looked like a deer caught in headlights as he looked away from Mi Young with his face going all red, including his ears. Mi Young was about to tease him about being concerned with his brother when the MC suddenly spoke, cutting the black haired girl off. She decides she will just tease Shi Yun later after the competition.
"Hello once again Mistwood Academy!" The MC announces through the speakers. "Since all of the winning teams have already gathered here, I guess it's time for us to announce our next part of the class battle."
Once more, upon hearing what the MC announced, the crowd went wilder.
"We have ten teams today that will compete on the next round of our class battle." The MC starts. "For our next round, we will play Capture The Flag. Everyone probably knows this, right?"
Some of the contestants nodded at the MC's question while some had confused expressions on their faces. Upon seeing the reaction, the MC chuckles as he continues his explanation. "So to explain this game for those who doesn't know, Capture The Flag is literally capturing the flag of the enemy team while also protecting your own flag. However, there's a twist on this game. Just like your roles earlier, you will use that role in this game."
Murmurs started surfacing once more when everyone heard what the other party was saying. The MC chuckles through the microphone as he continues his speech.
"This is the map of our battlefield. Of course, this will be an illusion but for the players, it will be like a real battlefield for them. This map will contain obstacles and trees where players can hide while they sought out for the other enemies flags." The MC says while a large screen displaying the battlefield emerges in front of the viewers. The participating students also looked up to check the place where they were going to battle against each other. "Others may have tried Capture The Flag before where only two teams will try to capture the enemy's flag. In this game, all of the ten teams will have to capture each other's flag. The team who will get the highest number of flags after the game ends will be hailed as champions."
Loud cheers erupted from the crowd. However the participating players are still confused about what their roles have to do with the game. Sensing the player's confusion, the MC continues his explanation.
"As for the roles of the player, all you have to do is avoid the player who will have the same role as you. Because if you happen to stumble upon a player with the same role, you two will have to face each other until one is unable to fight. I repeat, no killing is allowed. All you have to do is make your enemy unable to fight back or surrender. If you kill another player, you will not only be disqualified from the game as well as your team, but you will also be expelled from the academy."
Some of the players looked excited while hearing the instructions and rules of the game. However, there are also other players who looked disheartened or having a hard time digesting the game's mechanics.
"So if anyone doesn't have any questions…let the game begin!" The MC says. Just as he uttered those words, all of the players at the center of the arena vanished.
There was an "oooh" coming from the crowd as they were amazed with the features of the game. Seconds later, a huge screen facing all sides of the arena showed up in front. Watchers and everyone else on the bleachers can see the ten teams placed on different parts of the map.
Inside the game, Mi Young and her teammates took a couple of seconds before they registered what happened.
"What the hell?" Jong In whispers as he scans their surroundings. "Where are we?"
"I think we're somewhere inside the map they showed earlier." Moon Byul says while she tries to steady her feet because of the dizziness she felt when they teleported into the battlefield.
"I thought everything was an illusion. That's what the MC said, right?" Ha Ru says as he tried to touch the grass where they were standing. "This feels so real…what the f*ck…"
"To the people watching, this may be an illusion but to us players, everything is real." Ho Shi says as he looks at the horizon in front of them. "That's what the MC also said."
Mi Young and Shi Yun remain mute as they try to examine everything around them.
What the others said was both right. The MC really did tell them that everything in the game is an illusion except to the eyes of the players itself. Mi Young furrowed her eyebrows upon remembering those words. When she looks up at Shi Yun, she immediately knew that the boy is also thinking the same thing as her. However, both of them remained silent about it since they aren't really sure if what they were thinking is true.
"Mi Young? What are we going to do now?" Jong In asks. All heads whipped towards the direction of their captain.
Mi Young sighed deeply as she tried to collect her thoughts while trying to focus on the game and bury any thoughts about Se Heon into the deepest part of her mind. She will deal with them later but for now, she needs to win this game.
"I know that the best way in order to win this game is to stick together so if one encounters an enemy, the team is there to help her." Mi Young starts to say. She looks at her team member's eyes one by one before she says her next words, "But I think, it's better to separate with each other."
"Why? You said it yourself. The more we stick together, the faster we can win and help our teammates." Ho Shi says.
"I know but if you encounter the enemy team with all of their members present, all you have to do is face their member who has the same roles as you. If you fight, the other team members cannot interfere with your battle, that's part of the rules." Mi Young starts to explain. "But I have a plan. And in order to make this plan work, we have to separate with each other first."
The other members looked uneasy and unsure. Mi Young sighs. She was about to tell them more about her explanation but Shi Yun butted in, completely cutting her off.
"Why are you having second thoughts about our captain's decision? If that is her plan, we have to follow it without any mistakes." The raven haired boy said as he looked at the others seriously. "It is our responsibility to help and support our team captain."
Jong In nodded his head as he raised his hands, "I support the captain's decision and plan."
And with that, the others remained silent as they all listened to their captain's plan.
Se Heon was moved to a much more private room where only his family members can visit. Mi Young protested at first but Ji Sung promised her that she can still visit Se Heon whenever she wants. The black haired girl only relaxed when she heard Ji Sung say that.
