The Unsurpassed Maiden

Chapter 98 - 98 - Infiltration Part 2

"Why did they forget?" Mi Young questions, voice reflecting Hae Choon's sad one.

"I guess they pretty much enjoyed their new lives." Hae Choon says with a smile, although his smile didn't reach his eyes at all. "In our first hundred years, I was the only one who showed up at our meeting place. I thought they were just late, but it turned out that they all forgot."

"That's…disappointing." Mi Young comments.

"Really disappointing. However I tried to understand them and thought that maybe they were just busy with their second lives. So after another hundred years, I tried to reach out for them again. Only Soo Young appeared the next time. The reason why she didn't turn up last hundred years because she was as—"

"Sleeping. Yup, I knew that." Mi Young says, finishing the other party's sentence.

"How did you know?" Hae Choon asks while eyeing the black haired girl suspiciously.

"Why are you giving me that look? Lady Ning Gwang and Teacher Zhong Yu sent me and a colleague of mine back to the past where I met Soo Young. She was being attacked by goblins and I saved her." The students say while crossing her arms and giving Hae Choon a disappointed look. "Thanks to me she was able to see you the next hundred years."

The other party was scratching the back of his neck as he smiled sheepishly at Mi Young. "Well...uhh thank you?"

"You look unsure."

"Uh no! Thank you." The other party repeats, this time with more sincerity.

This made the black haired girl satisfied. When Mi Young was about to ask another question, an alarm suddenly sounded making her jump from where she was standing.

"The f*ck is that?" Mi Young whispers. "Is that the alarm?"

Hae Choon nodded. "Ready yourself."

The black haired girl nodded her head while looking at Hae Choon.

They both crouched down and blended with the shadows the moment two soldiers passed by them.

"Where are they all going?" Mi Young whispers while following the soldiers who entered a two door entrance that wasn't there before.

"I think it's the main base of their headquarters. As for the door, it only appears during midnight." Hae Choon explains, while his eyes were glued to their surroundings. He signals for Mi Young which the girl immediately understands.

The moment the last three guards went inside the entrance, the two of them ran as fast as they could towards the door that only the High Lords use.

When they reached the door, it was then that they realized that it needed some sort of keys to open.

"Well, sh*t why did I forget about that?" Hae Choon whispers more to himself than to anyone.

"What an idiot." Mi Young comments. This caused the other party to look at her with a glare. "Move."

Mi Young didn't care much if the person she was being rude to is an ancient person who can be as powerful as her own teacher. She thinks that during these crucial moments, being an idiot can be hard.

The black haired girl pushes the other party softly to the side as she leans a bit towards the door to observe the keyhole. Seconds later, a key that is made of earth forms in her hand.

"You're a Geo Mage?" Mi Young hears Hae Choon question behind her. She didn't answer the man as she thought that it was just a waste of her time. Then, the black haired girl inserts the key towards the keyhole.

"Ready?" Mi Young asks as she holds the doorknob. She sees Hae Choon nod his head the moment she turns the doorknob slowly.

When Mi Young finally opened the door, the sight that greeted her was nothing she had imagined.

"The hell is this?" The young student whispers as she looks at their surroundings.

"Are these the headquarters collections?" Hae Choon whispers as they both walk along a path where each side has huge glass walls. However, what they were most shocked about was the displays inside the walls. "They're sick."

"Maybe this is the reason why they are the only people who use this door." Mi Young says while she walks forward and examines the body inside the glass wall.

"And the reason why there are no cameras pointing at this door's location." Hae Choon added while he also observes the other body that belonged to a male on the other side of the wall.

"Are they dead?" The black haired girl asks with wide eyes. She can feel herself breathing a little too fast with how gruesome and cruel the sight in front of her is. When her eyes landed on the other side of the glass wall, Mi Young almost felt her knees getting weak. "What…"

Good thing Hae Choon was there to grab her so she wouldn't fall on the floor. "Hey? What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Hae Choon asks with a voice filled with worry. Then, he follows the girl's eyes and he immediately freezes on his spot. "What the f*ck…"

A child, not more than five years old, was enclosed on the other side of the glass wall. The child looked like she was sleeping peacefully. If not for the cord attached somewhere behind her back, Mi Young swore that the child looked like she was just closing her eyes.

"What have they done to them?" Mi Young questions while eyeing all the bodies inside the glass walls which were facing each other on the side.

"Look." Hae Choons says as he points at something at the child's body. When Mi Young came forward to examine it, she saw a mark she had never seen before tattooed on the child's chest.

"What's that?" Mi Young asks.

"It's a mark that only appears to the people who are descendants of the five lost clans." Another voice says behind them.

Mi Young and Hae Choon immediately turned their backs to face the newcomer.

They see a young girl, around Mi Young's age, with red purple hair walking towards them at a calm pace.

"These people were part of the families of the five clans which managed to survive the war thousands of years ago." The young girl says as she presses her palm against the wall where the child was kept. She presses her forehead as well as she whispers a soft 'farewell' to it.

"Why did you say farewell? And who are you?" Hae Choon asks while giving the girl a defensive look.

"Don't worry, I am not your enemy. I just happened to pass by and saw the two of you. Although it's ironic, this is my favorite place around the headquarters." The girl with the purple hair says while giving Mi Young and Hae Choon a friendly smile.

"What is this place?" Mi Young asks. "And what are they doing with these people?"

"The soldiers call this place the 'Creepy Glass Walls'. But my dad and his other friends call this room 'The Hope of Our Future'."

"Hope for our future? Don't tell me…" Hae Choon starts to say.

As if sensing what the male was talking about, the purple haired girl nods her head. "Uhn. What you are thinking is right. These people right here are dead and they are all part of an experiment."

There was a sudden flash of light that blinded the two other people inside the room, seconds later, when they had finally managed to open their eyes, Mi Young had three of her elements floating in front of the purple haired girl and all of her elements were shaped like swords.

"Give me a good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now." Mi Young whispers with a grave voice.

Hae Choon was looking at the black haired girl who had her elements pointed at the other young girl. All this time he thought that the young girl was some sort of an average and normal Mage student who was idiotic enough to be in this kind of mess.

He should have known that Hwang Ning Gwang wouldn't choose any stupid students without a reason. Now that she has seen what the girl can do, he fully understands why the Hwang royalty chose her.

Although there are elements pointed at her, the purple haired girl remained calm. "I can easily press this button and all the soldiers will be alerted. You might be powerful but against all the high ranking officials and fully trained soldiers present inside these headquarters right now, you are nothing."

This made Me Young's blood boil harder. However, the girl was right. They are on the losing side for now. So she calls down her mana and all the elements that were pointed at the purple haired girl earlier, vanished.

"Tell me what they were trying to do with these innocent people." Mi Young commands. Her voice sounded really mad, Hae Choon noticed. So he remained mute and just listened to the two girl's conversation. If something bad happens, he would just grabe Mi Young and teleport them as far away as he can to give himself some time.

"These people were captured from where they were hiding. The High Lords managed to capture them and caged them in here. Those marks were tattooed on their skin as a sign that they were direct descendants from the five clans from before."

"Why are they capturing them? What experiment are they trying to do?" Mi Young questions through gritted teeth.

It took the purple haired girl a couple of seconds before she answered the other girl's question.. "Isn't it obvious? They are trying to copy the elements of these people."
