The Vampire's Bride

Chapter 14 - That Guy!

Jillion couldn't hold it in and exclaimed, "Bro! I never thought you were this kind of guy!"

Leo was confused, "What do you mean?"

Jillion: "You just got a woman this morning and you have another one right now! Talk about playing!"

Leo's countenance darkened as he heard the reason why.

"I do not play. I only have one. Remember that."

Leo's cold voice immediately entered Jillion's ear and he involuntarily shivered. He knew he must have angered the devil so he quickly laughed it off and asked, "Haha, really? Then may I ask why this Young Master is looking for Jianne? Is she related to you? Or maybe... to her?"

Leo replied indifferently, "Too much information will break someone's small brain," which meant that he should not pry too much.

Jillion: "F***! Who are you calling an idiot?!"

Leo: "I never said that."

Jillion: "Bullsh*t! You're lying!"

Leo: "Cursing is another way to have a smaller brain."

Jillion "..." F***!

Jillion felt like he was dying in the hands of Leo. "I'll kill you," He said through his teeth.

"Don't exert too much effort or you'll hurt yourself but I'll be waiting for that time to come... though it might not happen in a million lifetimes."

"D*mn you, Leo," Jillion muttered.

"I heard that loud and clear, Jill."

Jillion kept his mouth shut. He was going to die of irritation because of the man and he still did not want to die yet. He still haven't got a girlfriend so how can he die?

"If you're really curious, she's an old friend of her. Now I need to go and eat dinner."

"Dinner? You rarely eat one." Jillion was surprised to hear the word dinner coming out of Leo's mouth.

Hearing his remark, Leo subtly said, "You're right... but I'm gonna eat with her. Bye."

Though Jillion was far from him, judging by the way he spoke, he felt like Leo smiled. He couldn't imagine the devil smiling... if Leo was truly smiling... then something was wrong with the world.

Jillion shook his head at the thought of Leo smiling. He opened his laptop as he mumbled, "He wouldn't smile, he wouldn't smile."

It was hard to determine if he was saying that to convince himself or if he was stating the truth.

[...]

"Young Master, welcome," Brian greeted as he saw Leo entering the dining table.

Leo just nodded and scanned the room. Afterwards, he had a frown on his face. "Where is she?"

Brian quickly answered, "At the balcony. She said that she will eat once you have arrived. Would you like us to call her, Young Master?"

Leo shook his head and turned around. He walked back from where he came.

Just before he exited the dining room, he spoke, "Keep the food warm until we got back."

"Yes, Young Master."

Brian eyed the figure of the man who was walking out of the room. All of a sudden he felt like crying.

I thought it was just a coincidence yesterday but not only did he ate breakfast, he will also eat dinner! Young Master is finally eating on time! This is all thanks to her!

Although Brian was thankful that Leo was now eating, he still couldn't shake the doubts of Mallory's 'evil' intentions... if ever there was.

He needed to make sure she won't bring harm to his Young Master.

Leo was walking towards the glass doors and saw a shadow behind the thin layer of white curtains. He knew immediately that it was Mallory. He silently shifted the curtains and saw Mallory sitting at the floor, hugging both legs near her c.h.e.s.t, laying her head on her knees, watching the night sky.

Seeing the peaceful scene in front of him, Leo stopped. He did not want to disturb her. He was afraid that he would break whatever was present at that moment.

He quietly slipped through the already opened glass door. He stood a few steps away from her, making sure he wasn't noticed by her.

Then he heard a soft sound. Turned out, she was humming. Very gently... very softly...

Leo tried stepping closer to listen but he saw Mallory's ears popping out.

"Master Orpheus?" Mallory looked up at the surprised Leo.

Leo laughed as he sat besides her, ruffling her hair. "You noticed. What are you doing here? It's cold out here?"

"N-Nothing much."

Mallory closed her eyes as she felt warm as Leo ruffled her hair.

Leo could not help but lean closer, sniffing near her wolf ears.

Mallory was surprised but she did not push him away. Then she heard Leo mumbling, "They're real, right?"

"Y-Yes."

"I see... they're soft."

Mallory did not know how to respond to his... compliment. "Er... thank you?"

Leo chuckled at her confusion and stood up. He offered a hand as he spoke, "Come on. Dinner is ready. If we are late, the food will be cold."

Mallory was in a dazed as she saw the hand.

She wasn't dreaming... right?

Someone was genuinely offering her a hand... how long has it been?

"Mallory?" Leo suddenly became worried as she did not reply.

Mallory shook her head and grabbed his hand, mumbling a simple thanks. She did not even noticed that her eyes had gotten wet

Leo was mesmerized. For the first time... Mallory smiled.

And that smile was because of him...

It was for him.

He finally forgot the feelings that churned inside him when he saw her smiling at her friend.

Leo felt warm as they walked back to the dining room while holding hands.

"Welcome back Young Ma- -?!"

When they entered, the greetings of the people inside stopped midway.

They could not help but eye the pair's hands.

After all, Leo did not want to be close to anyone, especially women.

Leo did not mind what other people thought of and continued to lead Mallory to her seat.

The latter also did not mind the people around — she was busy looking at the food that filled the table from one end to the other.

After sitting down, Leo placed a steak on her plate before placing one on his.

Mallory tried cutting her food but the knife seemed to slip. This irked her and she focused on cutting the steak.

She did not know that she had become the focus of the room.

She was like a child that was serious on putting their own socks but always failed.

Some people could not help but think that she was cute — especially Leo.

Seeing that she was already pouting after a number of unsuccessful tries, Leo chuckled and replaced their plates.

In front of Mallory was a neatly cut steak by Leo. She looked at Leo who was just happily cutting what was supposed to be hers. She could not help but stare at how elegant he was doing things.

Of course, this was noticed by Leo. Leo just smiled as he tilted his head. Mallory was fl.u.s.tered and quickly ate the small pieces of steak without a pause.

She suddenly felt her blood rising to her cheeks. Unconsciously, she touched her cheek. Why am I... hot?

Leo ruffled her hair before eating. He had a small smile on his face and left the whole room dumbfounded.

Y-Y-Y-Young Master is smiling!!!

Just as everyone was checking if Leo was smiling, they suddenly met Leo's cold gaze. They shuddered involuntarily as Leo's aura became darker and darker at every second that passed.

Even Mallory stopped eating.

Everyone was looking at what Leo will do when suddenly, he let out a low growl. "Brain – –"

"Yes, Young Master?"

"Go and get the information from Kira. Jillion sent him," Leo ordered.

"Understood, Young Master." Brian quickly dismisses the staff as per Leo's secret order.

Everyone followed and left the two inside.

The moment the door closed, a screen appeared in front of them. Showing at the screen was a man.

"Do you really need to be that scary? Using your butler for telepathy costs a lot of energy," The man complained.

"Is what you said true, Jill?"

Jillion nodded his head as he explained, "Someone is rebelling within the area. It's not that obvious to humans but it is to us."

Jillion was about to continue when he suddenly noticed the movement besides Leo. He saw a woman who had both hands on her head. Unknown to him, she was hiding her ears instinctively.

Leo noticed Jillion's line of sight and understood what Mallory was doing. He turned off the camera from their side, "Wait, Jill." He proceeded to mute the sounds and turned to Mallory.

"You okay? How long before you can hide it?" Leo asked.

Mallory pondered for a moment before answering, "I-I'm not sure when it will disappear... can I get something to cover my ears?"

Leo looked around and spotted a shadow. "K."

Suddenly, a man wearing a suit emerged from the shadows. He had white hair that reached at his neck. His hair was tied in a messy bun, leaving a few strands hanging at the front. On his arm was a hoodie. He bowed politely before walking towards Leo.

However, the moment he walked, they heard a tiny voice that seemed to be surprised, "Ah! You're that guy!"

Leo looked besides him and saw Mallory pointing at K. "What do you mean? You know him?"

Posing his second question, Leo looked at K confusedly who was walking to hand the hoodie.

K shook his head, indicating that he had never met the woman before.

"No, I don't know him. I just noticed him following."

K's arm froze on mid-air. Mallory did not notice anything wrong and got the hoodie after thanking him.

"Following?" Leo asked.

"Yes. I also noticed him when I first entered your house but I wasn't sure if he was a foe or a friend. Thankfully he was a friend of your, Master Orpheus, or I would get nervous," Mallory answered as she wore the hoodie.

In the next second, K disappeared with a hint of amus.e.m.e.nt.

Seems like she practiced a lot for her to notice my presence.

"What were you guys doing or talking about?" Jillion asked as Leo returned to the video call.

"Nothing. Just a little secret," Leo replied. He looked at Mallory and introduced her, "Jill, this is Mallory. Mallory, Jillion."

"Nice to meet you, Mallory."

"The honor is mine."

Mallory knew that Jillion was not someone she could offend and stayed quiet as they continued their talk while eating.

Leo: "What's your proof about the topic, Jill?"

Jillion: "Nothing much except the fact that there's something going on around the area."

Leo: "And that is?"

Jillion: "Well, you know..."

Leo: "What?"

Jillion: "..."

Jillion wasn't able to take it anymore and shouted, pointing at the screen, "What the hell are you doing?! Are you seriously going to feed me dog food after I worked for you?!"

Leo who was in the middle of pouring water on Mallory's glass looked indifferently at Jillion. "That's not my fault, is it?" It's not like I told you to be single...

Jillion felt like dying. Not only did he learn that Leo had a new girl, he was even forced to watch all the affections Leo was showing!

He wanted to say something else but when he saw how reluctant the girl was, he smirked.

Seems like not everything is going for this man eh... Aiya~ I'll be having a good time watching you break, my dear vampire friend!

Leo saw the smirk and could roughly guess what his friend was thinking. He glared at him as he spoke coldly, "Remember, I can make sure that you'll be single for the rest of your life... and if we ever meet in your next life."

"I-It was a joke, a joke!" Jillion quickly said.

Mallory could only sigh as Leo glared at Jillion. For some reasons, she pitied Jillion.

"Going back to the topic, there's been recent news these past few weeks. If you haven't heard of it, go search for it now," Jillion said.

Leo did not reply nor did he move. He knew Jillion will continue if he did so.

But he did not expect that Mallory would intervene.

"Is it about the vampire killers?" Mallory's weak voice reach Jillion's side.
