The Vampire's Bride
Chapter 22 - Mind Control
"That child?"
Leo looked at where she was looking.
The next second, he saw a dashing figure running towards the child at the park.
It was too fast for him that he did not even had the time to process what was happening. The next thing he knew was that there was a shout. A loud, shrieking noise.
Then the scent of blood entered his nose.
Thanks to the blood, Leo seemed to have waken up from his trance. He looked at the scene across the street. A woman seemed to have fallen on the ground. She was scared and couldn't move nor speak. She seemed to have seen a ghost.
At her front was a child whose neck was being held by Mallory using her arm. The child was struggling very hard and bit Mallory's arm. Mallory squinted her eyes in pain. She could barely let her voice out to command the woman on the ground. "Y-You will forget all of this in the next 5 minutes. U-Until then, run and do not return."
The woman's eyes flashed red the moment Mallory's flashed red as well. It was a proof that her mind control worked. The child bit harder making Mallory groan in pain. "H-Hurry up and run!"
Finally, the woman was gone. Mallory looked at the struggling girl and said, "Stop it! You're letting your d.e.s.i.r.es control you! Fight them!"
Leo was dumbfounded. Mallory was asking a child who was barely 8 years old, to fight their instincts? That's not something a pure vampire child could do so easily!
"L-Listen to me!" Mallory tried to look at her eyes but her eyes were clouded. It was filled with red but her sight was clouded by her d.e.s.i.r.es. Mallory knew that the child was taken over by her d.e.s.i.r.es.
At times like this, there would be only one solution that she could think of – let the child drink her blood.
"Sh*t!" Mallory mumbled a curse before letting her blood flow in the little child's mouth.
When the girl tasted the blood, her struggling seemed to get lesser and lesser until she was clumsily drinking the blood.
It was not until he saw the blood dripping from Mallory's arm did Leo ran towards them. "Mallory!"
He quickly grabbed a hold of her shoulders and supported her as she started feeling weak. "Hey! Hurry and remove your arm! She's drinking your blood!"
"I-It's okay, Master Orpheus. I-I let her." Mallory bit her lower lip to lessen the pain but it did no such thing.
She could only sigh and count up to ten before she could remove her arm. She closed her eyes as she calmed down as she was counting.

Mallory looked at the girl's eyes and she seemed to have calmed her d.e.s.i.r.es. She had no choice but to control her so that she could rest.
"I'm sorry, little one," Mallory mumbled and took a deep breath before saying one word, "Sleep."
Her eyes flashed red and the child quickly followed. The grip of her fangs loosened up as her head fell backwards. Her eyes slowly closed until she was in a deep slumber.
Mallory caught her head in time but then she started staggering. "A-Ahh?"
She started falling backwards. She closed her eyes ready for impact but a hand had caught her waist.
"Careful!"
"T-thank you, Master Orpheus." Mallory smiled as she stood up properly with the help of Leo.
Leo's eyebrows scrunched. "You tired?"
"Yes. It's been a long time since I used 'Mind Control' on people. Not to mention twice. I guess, I'm out of shape."
I mean, why would I use it? It's not like I could use such a weak control on my family... it would be useless.
"Let's go home?" Leo asked.
Mallory was stunned for a moment before realizing he meant his house and not hers. She let out a weak smile and nodded. "Yes! Thank you very much, Master Orpheus."
...
Brian was at the door, waiting for his Young Master to return. The moment he felt his presence, he quickly greeted them. "Welcome back, Young Master and Miss... and...?"
He noticed that the people who returned where not only two... they were three.
"I-I'm fine, Master Orpheus. There's no need for you to hold me," Mallory said while trying to get out of Leo's grip.
Leo, however, did not want to and tightened the grip. "What 'no need'?! You just carry the child! You even almost fell earlier. I'll be in trouble if that happened, okay? I can't carry two people at the same time."
"B-But..."
He looked at the scene in front of him. His young master was guiding his guest as they walked while the guest was carrying a child...
No matter how you look at it... they definitely looked like a complete family.
The butler couldn't help but wonder... since when did they have a child?
No. He knew they couldn't have one in such a short time. Looking closely, he noticed that the child neither looked like his Young Master and his guest (Mallory).
For some reasons, he felt relieved and... disappointed — just a little bit.
The pair finally noticed the butler staring at them and they looked at him. "What's wrong?" Leo asked.
The butler looked at them and wipe a fake tear as he said loud enough, "The future generation of the family is secured. Congratulations, Young Master, Miss!"
It took a moment for the two to realize what he meant.
Leo was the first one to react as his ears started burning. "I-It's not like that! We just picked her up!"
Mallory just lowered her head in embarrassment. Do we look like a... family?!
Master Orpheus and... me?
Mallory pursed her lips as she felt blood rushing to her face.
Leo sighed and looked at Mallory. "Let's go, Mallory. Don't mind my idiotic butler... Mallory?"
Mallory avoided eye contact as she stuttered, "Y-Yes! Let's g-go inside."
Mallory quickly entered the house with a smirking Leo in tow.
Well, it wouldn't be bad if she's my partner.
The maids and staffs all saw the trio and were stunned. They couldn't even complete their greetings as they passed by.
Mallory could only sigh and tell Leo, "Master Orpheus, they're misunderstanding the situation. Should I go and explain it to them?"
Leo opened the door to a guest room and said, "No need. They'll realize it sooner or later. For now, we'll let her sleep here. Go to your room and prepare for dinner. I'll tell one of the maids to keep an eye on her."
Mallory nodded, "Yes, Master Orpheus."
Mallory quickly went to 'her' room. On the first night she came to this house, she slept in Leo's room. Sensing that she felt uncomfortable when she woke up, Leo ordered Brian to built a room that connects with his. Since then, Mallory slept there. Another good thing was that Mallory had her own bathroom although there are quite a number of times that Mallory used Leo's like when she went home from school soaked with water.
