The Vampire's Bride
Chapter 45 - Please Teach Me Well!
Mallory raised an eyebrow as she asked, "Does Master Jillion have any plans on becoming an enemy of the girl?"
For some reasons, Jillion felt ridiculed yet threatened. He immediately shook his head, "No, no, no! Absolutely not!"
"Let's go back in and talk. We've got a lot to discuss," Aldo said and pulled Jillion back inside.
Before following, Mallory looked at where she last saw Kai. Seeing that they were gone, she turned on her feet and followed the boys. Seeing that Aldo was slightly uncomfortable talking in the living room, she offered to talk in her room as it was the only safe place she knew of. Aldo and Jillion looked at each other before agreeing.
"Brian, kindly inform us if Leo already arrived," Aldo requested. Brian nodded and immediately left the group.
In the room, Jillion already opened his laptop as he continued to work. Mallory, on the other hand, was patiently waiting for Aldo to start the conversation. Seeing her inquiring gaze, he innerly sighed. He was still not used with the older Mallory. Because he was older, he looked at Mallory as a younger sister but now that sister seemed to be a woman already. He definitely missed a lot.
"How's Zorek?" Aldo asked Jillion as he looked away from Mallory. Jillion did not take his eyes away from his precious laptop as he replied, "With the police. Leo will handle them. We saved you again... if they knew the truth, there'd be no doubt that all three of us will be thrown to the prison cells."
Aldo did not reply. He just stared at the ceiling blankly. Mallory looked at them confusedly. "Why will you be thrown to jail if the controller or the mind master is Zorek?"
"That's because I'm the one who killed. Yes, I was controlled, but I also killed. In their eyes, there's no difference. That's why, right now Mallory, you helped a serial killer escape."
"It's that... serious?" Mallory weakly asked. She did not expect that by saving her friend, she would be labeled as an accomplice.
Pursing his lips as if he could sense her nervousness, Aldo asked, "Do you... Do you regret saving me?"
Stunned by his question, Mallory quickly answered, "No. Even if I knew what my situation is now, I'd still choose what I chose to do."
Smiling, Aldo was satisfied. For him, he'd rather let her escape being labeled as his accomplice but he was thankful that she stayed by his side. However, just as the mood was going great, Mallory mumbled, "Father is... supposedly home."
"Father? Yours?"
Mallory nodded as Aldo frowned. That was not a good sign as far as he could remember. "When did he come back?"
"Maybe... a couple of days after Master Orpheus saved me from my mother," Mallory recalled. Indeed, by now, she should have gone back home but there were no signs of her family. A thought flashed through her mind: Could it be... this house is hidden?
"Well, if he's back then you'll return home. What do you plan to do?" Aldo asked as he gauged her reactions.
Mallory did not reply. She, herself, did not know what to do. As she was thinking, she noticed Jillion looking at them with a puzzled face. She gave a small smile as she explained, "Master Jillion, my father is more... wicked than my mother. I believe that you have heard from Master Orpheus about my situation."
"Yeah, I know..." After all, Leo told me to look into your profile!
Jillion could only shake his head and sigh. For the sake of his girlfriend, Leo was probably planning on destroying the whole family to prevent Mallory from getting hurt.
Seeing his reaction, Aldo was amused. "Leo will not do that. If he did that, a war will start."
Jillion was slightly surprised. "How did you know what I was thinking?"
"Because we are close... closer than how our bodies touch, closer than how our hearts race together," Aldo concluded after a beat or two.
Hearing his answer made Jillion want to puke. With black lines on his forehead, he was holding himself back from punching the guy and could only stutter two words, "F you!" FORGET THAT I ASKED.
Ignoring the piercing glare, Aldo changed the topics as he looked at Mallory, "I heard from Leo that you're going to school. Are they following you?"
Within a second, Mallory realized that the "they" he meant was her sisters. She shook her head as she explained, "No but they have their ways."
"So it's still like that. Although a lot of years had passed... you're still in that situation?" Aldo asked. Seeing her nodding, he felt like living in the past. They would talk about such topics but he never took actions towards it. All because he was weak. Now that he came back, he promised himself that he'd free Mallory from her family. Of course, not to the extent of actually the whole family. 'Cause there's always a person or two who were good to her — those that she can truly call her family.
"So... How's school? You've been absent for a couple of days. What will you do about the missed lessons and activities?"
Mallory was about to reply that she doesn't know when Jillion answered for her, "Leo already asked me to take care of it. The principal is a friend of his therefore, upon knowing that we were on a serial killer's trail, he made an excuse for them to leave for a couple of days. He knows about you (Aldo) and is on our side, helping change the report details."
"Then I'll let Leo handle those reports," Aldo replied as he yawned. He noticed the pile of books nearby the bed. He reached for it and looked at the paper sticking out. "Homework?" He asked as he checked her answers.
"Yes... It's been piling up ever since we saw you. Master Orpheus' also has his shares and he is helping me with my studies," Mallory explained as she glanced at what paper he was holding.
Flipping the paper, Aldo noticed that it was still unfinished. "When will you do this?"
Embarrassed, Mallory weakly replied, "History and Math is... not my forte... so I was planning to wait for Master Orpheus to teach me."
Aldo raised an eyebrow in his amus.e.m.e.nt. He never thought that the girl who kept teaching him stuff when they were young would actually have her weaknesses. Now that he thought about it, she would always find excuses when they would touch the said subjects. Waving the paper, he asked, "Do you got a book? I can teach you as long as I know how to."
"Ask Jillion to teach you History as I read through the book. He's rather good at it."
Mallory immediately looked at Jillion before realizing that it was not a joke. That's when she realized that Leo's friends were all geniuses. She was just stunned... not really surprised. After all they were friends of the "Master Orpheus" therefore his friends must be great at specific areas.
"Master Jillion, please teach me well," Mallory said as she turned her head to Jillion.
Jillion nodded as he felt like someone was praising him. His ego went high as he nodded his head in approval. "Sure, sure! I will teach you all the things you need to know. Within five weeks, you'll be at the top of your class!"
Mallory's eyes twitched as she held back her tongue. Umm... no, need Master Jillion... I just need to pass the exams...
...
Meanwhile, in Mallory's house...
A man was sitting on the couch as he coldly gaze at his wife and daughters. Watching the door for a couple of minutes, he realized that there would be no one to enter it. He slowly asked, "And this is the results you mean? I thought that it will only take you a few days to bring her back here. It's been a couple of days since I went back and I heard that she's been absent for awhile now. Enlighten me, in whose house is she currently staying now?"
