The Vampire's Bride
Chapter 48 - Ali is...
They were all struck with fear. This man... he was supposed to be dead!
Thana was the most scared among the four. She felt her knees giving up but she did not fall. Pointing at Aldo, she opened her mouth to speak, "I-Impossible... This cannot be... You cannot be Aldo! After all, we —!"
"Sister!" Anna immediately stopped her. Than stopped as soon as she heard her name and finally got a hold of herself. As if she wasn't warning her sister, Anna continued, "He must be lying. Aldo is dead. We've seen his body during his funeral therefore whoever that man is must be another toy of the ugly girl."
Thana took deep breaths as she calmed down. That's right... he is dead. He will never come back. He does not even know what really happened!
With a smile on her face, Thana asked, "Young man, we do remember my supposedly ex-brother-in-law but that does not mean that you can just go around and take the name for yourself."
"Take a name for myself?" Aldo raised an eyebrow as he saw how they deny the truth. "Then will you believe it if Young Master Orpheus' butler and Young Master Ian be my witnesses?"
Looking at the two said men, Odin finally believed the young man. With a sigh, he said, "Aldo, how come you did not contact us? Did you know that you're parents are dead?"
Aldo was filled with disappointment. "Yes, I know. They were horribly killed."
"How did you know? It's not really known to the public," Mikva asked excitedly. Faking a shock, she asked, "D-Don't tell me you..." You killed them?
Otherwise, how could he have known? He did not even contact any of them.
If so, then they could shift all the blame on Aldo and place him in jail while making sure that not another word would leave his mouth while leaving Mallory defenseless once more!
However, she forgot to take into account one simple thing — Jillion knew the truth. Otherwise, why else would Aldo confidently make him his witness?
Aldo immediately saw through her thoughts and narrowed his eyes, "Sorry, Auntie Mikva, but it is not I who killed them. They were killed by the man who is currently in the hands of the police."
"And did you think I need to contact your family just for me to hear such news?"
Mikva shivered as she felt suffocated. "N-No... that's not what I..."
"Aldo, watch your words. Don't cross the line," Odin said, protecting his wife. "She's just surprised. After all, a dead man coming back to life?" Ha! What a joke!
"Since when did I cross the line, Uncle? I just explained. Besides, I'm just stating," Aldo shrugged his shoulders as he gave a quick glance on Brian. Leo's still not yet here?
Odin, who was oblivious of their small exchange, gave a warning to Aldo, "Boy, it is not good if you will go against my family."
"Go against? Ha! Indeed, it will not be good," Aldo smirked as he continued unfazed, "After all you are nowhere near my level."
Nowhere near your level?!
Odin wanted to spit out blood as he noticed Aldo was unaffected by his warning. Does this guy really wants to question the power he had? In actual truth, Odin hesitated to punish Aldo. What if Aldo had someone backing him up?
But then again, he's now a parentless child that had disappeared for a couple of years. What could he do? He won't have any backings from his family anymore.
"Aldo, I warned you. Don't blame for being too cold to you. I'm willing to forget the friendship of our families." He thought with this, Aldo will take a step back but...
"Mr. Odin... did you think you are of any importance? I could easily make you disappear. Have you forgotten, between our families, who was the one begging?"
"I called you 'Uncle' out of respect of what Mallory and I had in the past but now... I'm pretty sure that we can forget about it. So, let me ask you again, Mr. Odin... between the two of us, who do you think will kneel?"
His voice was calm yet cold. Every word that left his mouth struck fear in their hearts. Within years, this man, who seemed to have disappeared from the world, had already learned to hold his head high, claiming his rightful place.
But this was something Odin chose to ignore. Clenching his fists, he shouted, "The answer is obvious, boy. Since you want to test my powers then I shall grant your request."
With a swift movement, Odin had cast a couple of icicle-like objects. It headed straight to Aldo who just stood there. Mallory watched the icicles move and suddenly recalled the scene where she saw Aldo's death. Fear filled her up and she unconsciously tried to push Aldo away from harm.
Aldo, who was waiting for the right moment, was suddenly pushed making him lose his balance. When he looked besides him, he could see Mallory on the floor with a few scr.a.p.es. "Mallory!"
Mallory was shocked for a moment before realizing what had happened. "I-I'm fine... sorry. I pushed you even though you had a plan."
"Don't mind it. Anyway, just stay besides Jillion. It's too dangerous." Aldo tried helping Mallory to stand however, Odin quickly sent another set of icicles towards them. "Not so fast!"
Aldo, who was holding Mallory, did not have enough time to react and could only hug Mallory to prevent her from getting more injuries. Brian saw the situation and raised his hand to counterattack when suddenly—
"Dispel!"
"Wha—?!" Odin was surprised to see his spell vanish in a second. Surprised, everyone looked at the source of the voice. The person did not come from the door, rather she came from the opened window. Leaping, she landed at the front of Aldo and Mallory with the intention of protecting them.
"Are you alright, Master? Mallory?" Her voice was clear and bright. Worry was evident as she speaks.
Aldo was surprised to see the familiar figure in front of him. He felt like it had been a long time... no, it really was a long time since he last saw her. "Ali? What are you doing here?"
"I felt your presence again, Master. This time, it was as if you were back. That's why I came looking for you. I've come back, Master." The woman looked at Aldo, noticing how he have grown. Looking at the two of them, she recalled the scene where Aldo tried to hide Mallory from her family. She suddenly missed the young Aldo. Narrowing her eyes at Odin, she said, "Leave him to me, Master. Please keep Mallory safe."
"Okay." Aldo quickly nudged Mallory, "Mallory, let's go. You need to stay at Jillion's side."
However, Mallory did not reply. Looking at her face, it was evident that she was stunned. She was gaping, wanting to say something but couldn't. Her eyes were wide open as she shakily pointed at the figure in front of her. Aldo frowned, "What's wrong? If you're wondering, Ali can be considered as my partner."
"N-No... that's not it..." Mallory was seriously frightened as she looked at Aldo. "T-That's... M-M-Miss Lim!"
"Miss Lim?" Aldo recognized the familiar name. It was the teacher that Leo spoke of.
Wait... does that mean that Ali knew Mallory's... dangerous secrets?
"Ali is my name. Lim is just for the sake of keeping a low profile. Sorry to surprise you," Ali said with a smiled.
"Stop talking when you are in a battle!" Odin sent another wave icicles towards Ali's direction however, Ali just move to the sides, letting it pass her and hitting the wall. Looking at the wall, Mallory was scared. How much more damage do they want to do in Master Orpheus' house?!
"Tsk!" Odin was angered by the fact that another vampire came and dispelled his spell. Looking at their interaction, it was obviously another friend of Mallory. Thinking of this, he scolded her, "Mallory! Are you actually studying or flirting around in school? Know your place."
"You're the one who should know their place," Ali said as she raised her fists up, ready to fight but heard a shrill from behind her.
"Ahhh!" Mallory was suddenly in pain. Aldo and the others looked at her as she continued screaming. "Mallory? What's wrong?"
Mallory could not speak. She felt like she was being electrocuted. It was painful... too painful. Tears were forming as she tried to reject the pain however, when she thought it was gone, it suddenly came back. "S-Sto— Ahh!"
Thana was the most scared among the four. She felt her knees giving up but she did not fall. Pointing at Aldo, she opened her mouth to speak, "I-Impossible... This cannot be... You cannot be Aldo! After all, we —!"
