Episode 23 Murushi of the Heterogeneous People Eating Marbles (9)

When she entered the shopping district with her robe on, she found there were many fairly large stores. There were also many people who looked busy wearing robes.

“Have all of them flown in like Mr. Crawford?”

“Most likely. It is only Sharan and the nobles who use the portals.”

In addition, even if the nobles wanted to open portals between their estates, they needed Sharan’s permission. Sharan was able to use the nobles’ portals anytime, but they were not. The right to use the portals, thoroughly controlled by Sharan was actually just a way to keep the nobles in control, although the official reason was that could be needed to send a tracking team for Ur anytime.

Ur is always a good excuse.

“Even if you’re an aristocrat, it would take a lot of courage to ask to open a portal to Monzier. It’s an illegal market that they know about but can’t get rid of.”

“That’s understandable.”

The three guardians were privileged to use the portal without Sharon’s permission, but it was unimaginable for August or Robelia to sneak around the black market. It was because August was an unbecoming and too straight-forward a person, and Rovelia held vanity enough to hate such a gloomy place.

“Do you usually sell things using black magic here?”

In the plateau, black wizards who were kicked out lived together. There seemed to be a reason why this place was close to the entrance to the plateau.

“We have gathered all the dangerous things here, regardless of black magic and white magic. It’s outside the border.”

“….”

“And…I can’t call you Young lady here. The owner hates nobility. Sometimes they play dirty tricks on noble patrons.”

“Yes, go ahead.”

Kaiton had already said Yeong-ae according to my mood, Muriel, and was calling him whatever, so there was nothing new about it now.

“Oh… what should I call you then?”

Muriel asked, looking at Kaiton’s mask. Speaking of Kai Crawford, there was no one in the kingdom who didn’t know him. When she saw him wearing a mask, she believed he wanted to hide his identity. Though Crawford was already a fake identity.

“…You can call me whatever you want.”

“…Didn’t you want to hide your identity?”

“Right.”

“…If I call you Crawford as usual, they might notice who you are.”

“it may be so.”

“….”

Kaiton spoke as if he was talking about someone else.

So what do you want me to call you?

“Shall I call you Kai then? It’s a relatively common name.”

“If you want to call me that, call me that.”

I was so embarrassed! Kaiton said it so generously. Who said I wanted to call you that? I know he doesn’t like something, but I don’t know what it is.

“Then let’s go.”

“…Yes, let’s go, Kai.”

“….”

I summoned the courage to call him Kai at last, but Kaiton’s face as he looked back was not nice. He wore an expression of displeasure.

“Why? What? You told me to call you that.”

“…I did.”

Kaiton paused, and crookedly said to Muriel, who was very annoyed.

Kaiton’s mouth was bitter. It felt strange whenever Muriel called him Kai. He’d already confirmed Muriel didn’t remember his real name, but he thought she’d somehow call him Kaiton.

Before, now.

It wouldn’t end with just Kai, if he waited a little longer, she would call him Kaiton properly. Stupidly, Muriel had already completely forgotten him. He waited by himself like a fool.

“Then let’s go.”

Kaiton’s stop was the deepest part of the black market. The appearance of the store, which sells only dangerous things regardless of them being black and white magic, was surprisingly simple. It looked so simple and safe that if she’d followed him without knowing anything, she would have assumed this was an all-round ordinary shop.

“Zero.”

A modest wooden board said zero.

“That’s a unique name.”

“It’s a name that matches well with the owners’ preferences, to destroy and ruin everything. Do you like the name?’

“…No way.”

Squeak.

When they opened the old door and entered, the owner, who was crouching and evaluating some magic stones, turned around. He had on a loupe on only one eye, but his blue eyes, which protruded from even behind the loupe, were as natural as his face.

“Oh, an old regular has come.”

The bizarre yet pleasant-looking owner welcomed Kaiton as he took off the loupe. Jumping off a high chair, he turned out to be pretty short. To the point that Muriel had to look down.

“Hello.”

Muriel greeted the owner, glancing at his white, fluffy hair rising like a bubble. The top of his head flared refreshingly, and his hair, rising like horns on both sides, shook like a cloud as he nodded.

He looks like a poodle.

The owner glanced at Muriel’s face as he leaned back and his seductively swaying white hair bent. If he looked up from below, it was of little use to cover her face with a robe.

Muriel’s blue hair and blue-colored black eyes were unusual colors in the kingdom, so she was nervous about getting recognized, but the owner quickly lost interest and looked back at Kaiton.

“This is a big deal. Isn’t this your first time bringing someone?”

“Is that so?”

“That’s right. You always come alone and then you go alone again. So, what did you find today?”

As the owner rubbed his hands and walked to the door to what appeared to be the warehouse, Kaiton whispered as he covered Muriel with the robe even more.

“I’m using it more carefully. The owner doesn’t know the ingredients he’s interested in once.”

Ingredients…?

Muriel quickly pressed the robe when she heard it could be used as a material.

“Do you have Nihil?”

“Nihil? There’s only one left. You’re lucky. It was not easy to find a disaster stone, perhaps the star of this disaster fell into the sea.”

“You mean you’re going to ask for a higher price.”

“It’s very good that you don’t make me waste my breath. So, what are you going to pay for it?”

“Show the talismans to the owner.”

Kaiton turned around, but Muriel pulled out all the money she had instead since she felt bad about selling the gift she’d received from August.

The stepmother, who has been in charge of the management of the estate since her father’s death, did not want to pay Muriel a large amount, but she gave her quite a large sum of money when she mentioned her share of the inheritance.

“Is this enough?”

Muriel took three gold Laminas out of her pocket. The Lamina was the only currency recognized by the kingdom, and the one with Sharan’s inscription on it was genuine. There were gold, silver and bronze Laminas, each of which was worth 100 times more than the previous.

“Three gold Laminas? What are you going to buy with just three? Do you know how much Pacio I spent making these Nihil? Are you saying that the breath of God I have is only worth that much?!”

The fluffy head like a cloud moved gently in accordance to the movement of the owner screaming with excitement.

As far as Muriel knew, three gold Laminas was never a small amount of money. That’s about the annual salary of a junior knight.

“Well, how much is it then?”

“Why? Did you bring more money? How much do you have?”

“This is all….”

“Why do you ask then? I won’t sell it! Get out!”

This Poodle had a bad personality. The owner shouted sharply while shaking his small body. His face was so fierce, but his hair, which was shaking like rich clouds, was still cute.

“Then at least on credit….”

“Muriel.”

Kaiton called Muriel, who was white at the thought of returning empty-handed when they’d flown three hours.

“Two Talismans alone are enough to pay for it. What Muriel needs now is not Talisman, but Nihil.”

“That said….”

“What? What are you going to do with just two Talismans?! Forget it, I’m not selling it, get out of here!”

The owner quickly changed his expression when Muriel took the Talisman out of her arms and placed it on the display shelf while waving her hands in a hurry.

“This… This is!! It’s quite a painstaking piece of work.!”

He lifted the Talisman carefully, gaping his mouth like a poodle who had found a giant bone. After wearing the groupe of courtesy, he carefully looked at the Talisman.

“Ack!”

It felt unbelievable that he was the man who had been barking furiously just now, he stamped his feet with a strange exclamation.

Does this mean you’re going to buy it…?

At this point, I wondered how good the thing that August had given her was.

“Will you accept it as the price?”

“Hmm… What should I do… What should I do?”

While wiping his saliva, the owner rolled his eyes. He was wearing a loupe, she couldn’t exactly see it, but with his actions of prying it away, his eyes seemed to be rolling.

“This should be enough, please bring out the Nihil immediately. Why are you stalling?”

Kaiton raised his eyebrows and said meanly.

“I told you it was hard to get a disaster stone this time… I need to get paid more than usual.”

“That’s why we’ve given two talismans. Hurry up and bring it before we retrieve it.”

“You can’t do that to me! No!”

“Shall I take it back?”

“Kiya! I’ll bring it, I’ll get it! But there’s no taking back, alright? You know our store only allows bartering, right? There’s no returns!”

The owner entered the warehouse with two Talisman brooches laid down by Muriel in his arms if protecting them from being taken by Kaiton.

“…If I had negotiated well, I think I could have bought it with one talisman.”

“It wouldn’t have happened. Didn’t you say you never give up on things you saw once?”

“…didn’t you mean to offer two from the beginning?”

Kaiton would hate for Muriel to have something that would protect pacio. He would hope for her to be away from talismans, use the piece of Ur he gave her and become a demon quickly.

“…It’s common sense that if you’re not a robber, you have to pay the right price for good things.”

“For that to be the case, the owner’s face was too bright.”

“…it’s just your imagination.”

Muriel looked around inside while waiting for the owner. It looked like a warehouse. Some items were carefully placed in a display case, but most of them were piled up to the ceiling.

There was nothing but armor, weapons, magic stones, potions, magic ingredients, and talismans.

“There’s something like this here. A Love potion; it will make anyone a slave of your love…?”
