Chapter 251 - She was woken up by the ringer on her phone. (3)

“C’mon in.”

The door was not locked and opened up as soon as she twisted the door knob. Cheng Huan felt that her heart was about to leap out of her throat during the fleeting moment of the door being opened.

There were quite a few people inside the office. Cheng Huan looked around and immediately saw the man in the middle.

The man looked disheveled. His signature suit had dirt over it and his pants were met and stuck onto him. His tie was loosened and his hair was wet.

Even so, he was sitting upright and his authoritative aura remained. Just one look and Cheng Huan’s tears that she had fought to keep at bay so many times finally rolled down her cheeks.

Jiang MingYuan turned the moment that her tears started to flow. He panicked when he saw the person at the door. “Why are you here?!”

He walked over to her quickly. His look seemed more piercing and invasive due to his nervousness.

Cheng Huan couldn’t stop her tears. It was like she needed to let out all of her worries and fear for the last one and a half day. She felt embarrassed crying in front of so many so she wanted to wipe away her tears with her hand. Before her hand was able to touch her cheek, it was grabbed by someone else.

Jiang MingYuan’s hand that was holding her was trembling a little. He looked back and forth between her and the boy to make sure that they were both alright before he pressed down her shoulder and said angrily through gritted teeth, “This is too dangerous!”

Cheng Huan leaned into him trying to cover up her embarrassment. Her fingers digging into the man’s palm and it didn’t take long for the shirt under her cheek to be soaked.

The workers in the office were used to watching families uniting and did not interrupt them considerately. They waited until Cheng Huan had finished crying before they informed them that there was a plane that could take them back to their home country. And asked if they needed that.

Due to the disaster, the airport in the capital of Country I was the only airport that was in service. There were too many coming and going and had well exceeded the airport’s capacity. It was impossible to get tickets back to China right now.

With that in mind, the government had worked with a few airline companies to arrange for planes to pick up those who were stranded in their country.

Jiang MingYuan turned them down and said that he had other means to returning. He should not be taking up their public resources.

The worker nodded understandably. He knew who Jiang MingYuan was and it would not be difficult for him to arrange for his own flight back.

With things still crazy, the worker did not stay to chat afterward and left to tend to his other matters.

Jiang MingYuan picked up XingXing and walked out holding Cheng Huan’s hand. Over half of the others that were in the conference room followed them out. There were a few cars waiting outside already. Jiang MingYuan walked over to one in the middle, opened up its door, and had XingXing sat in the innermost spot. He saw on the outer seat and pulled Cheng Huan over onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her tightly.

The chauffeur was one that Cheng Huan had never seen before. He took a look at them from the rearview mirror before he started the car.

Cheng Huan felt calmer now that she had let it all out. Holding onto the man’s large hand, there was a lot that she wanted to say. She thought about it long and asked and asked the least important one, “Where are we going?”

“The hotel that I have been staying at.”

“… …”

“Is there nothing else that you want to ask me?” Feeling the tenseness of the body in his arms, Jiang MingYuan lowered his head, touched her gently on her neck to comfort her, and voluntarily told her what had happened in the last two days.

The resort was not the only project that the Jiang’s Corporation had in Country I. There were other smaller projects. Jiang MingYuan had planned to check out all of them during his trip. According his original plan, he was to return to the capital the night after he had spoken with Cheng Huan, finished inspecting the two remaining project and return home. Some unforeseeable circumstances took place that day and there had been some last-minute changes so he had to stay behind and had a late night meeting.

They were still in the meeting when the earthquake took place. Feeling the shaking and figuring out what was going on, Jiang MingYuan dispersed the people immediately. The tsunami hit shortly after they evacuated the building.

The hotel that they had been staying at was not too far from the tsunami. They were not able to see what was going at in the dark but they could hear the water roaring. It was a sound that they had never heard before and they were rattled.

Luckily, their hotel was not that close to the ocean and was on slightly higher ground and they were spared by the tsunami nor did they suffer too much loss from the sea water that followed. They did, however, lost power and water, and was not able to communicate with the outside world.

It took a day before the water that hit inland receded and the rescue workers arrived. Learning that some had been trapped inside the hotel, Jiang MingYuan and the others were rescued.

Coincidentally, they were saved by the rescue team from China.

He told his story for the last two days dryly and dully but Cheng Huan didn’t believe that everything went as smoothly as he tried to portray.

Holding tightly onto the man’s hand, she bit the man hard on his shoulder through his clothes. The man lifted her face helplessly and said, “My clothes are dirty.”

He lowered his head and looking at the woman’s somewhat frantic look, planted his lips onto hers.

The kiss was pure, just the lips touching, but it conveyed the taste of being comforted.
