Chapter 265 - "Should we have another child?" (2)

“I have learned of something very peculiar today.” Jiang MingYuan pulled her up a little and slowly told her about what he had learned about today. He then said, “Doesn’t she sound like a completely different person to you?”

Cheng Huan responded with difficulty, “…. I guess so.”

“Do you think she had a plastic surgery, or…”

Cheng Huan felt that her heart was about to jump out of her chest. Her brain almost stopped thinking and her fingers dug into Jiang MingYuan’s shoulder mindlessly, grabbing onto his muscle and skin.

Jiang MingYuan lowered his head and took a look at her hand. He didn’t’ stop her. He only reached out his other arm and put that over her shoulder. He wooed her. “Don’t be scared.”

Cheng Huan blushed. And this time it wasn’t from shyness. “You… um…. knew that I….”

“It’s fine. Don’t worry.” Jiang MingYuan kissed her on the top of her head. His motions very gentle. “I am just curious. You don’t need to tell me if you don’t want to.”

“It’s fine. You have an idea already anyway.” Cheng Huan bit her lower lip and took a deep breath. “The reason for the change in personality was because the person inside of the body was no longer the same one as before.”

His hand that was patting her stopped. A few seconds later, he carried on like nothing was wrong. “Not plastic surgery?”

Now that she was half way telling him about it, the other half didn’t seem that difficult anymore. Cheng Huan shook her head. “No. Just became a different person out of the blue. I have no idea why. There were no signs or anything before it happened.”

Jiang MingYuan’s understanding of the world for the last 30 years had been shattered and he was roiling inside. But he still needed to comfort Cheng Huan. “It’s alright. It’s not that odd, really.”

His voice was relaxed and it made Cheng Huan felt as though swapping the inside of a body wasn’t a big deal after all. She started to relax under Jiang MingYuan’s comforting words. She grumbled, “I didn’t ask for it.”

As a person who made a lot of decisions all the time, it didn’t take Jiang MingYuan long to accept a new concept. Jiang MingYuan convinced himself quickly that his wife had swapped a body. He was displeased by what she had said and pinched her a little on her waist as a punishment. “You don’t want to come? How would we meet each other then?”

Cheng Huan, “… …”

Jiang MingYuan let go of her after a light pinch and he was very tender toward her again. “What’s your original name?”

“Same as this one.”

“What a coincidence.” There was an inexplicable sense of joy in the man’s voice. He went on to ask, “Where’s home?”

Cheng Huan gave him an address.

Jiang MingYuan thought about it some and did not recognize the location at all. “Does this place exist?”

“Yes, but not in this universe.” Cheng Huan gritted her teeth and held back the remainder of what she was going to say.

“A different universe?” Jiang MingYuan was surprised. “What is it? Parallel universe or alien?”

Annoyed, Cheng Huan pinched him. “You are an alien.”

“Alright, alright. I am not talking about you.” Jiang MingYuan kissed her. “Will you please forgive my ignorance?”

Cheng Huan hrumped and didn’t say anything else. She thought about it some and finally told him that this universe was but a novel.

Jiang MingYuan remained silent for a very long time after that. “You are telling me that I am a character in a book, and that I am the male lead of this book?”

“Mmhmm.”

“And I had a designated female lead?”

Cheng Huan nodded against her own will.

She thought the man would be curious what that woman was like, instead, he snickered. Pinching her cheek, he said, “You little fool.”

Cheng Huan put her hand over her cheek that hurt a little from the pinch and listened to him rebutted her mildly. “If what you said was true and that I am just a character in the book. Then my actions would be controlled and I would be like a dummy or a robot.

“Obviously, I am not like that. I have a mind of my own. I know what I want and what I need to do. I want to be with you and not the ****** female lead.”

Perhaps what had happened today was too far out there that even Jiang MingYuan cussed for a change. Having said that, he pursed his lips and proposed a different theory. “I would much rather believe that we are dealing with parallel universes here. That there is another ‘me’ in another world and that somebody had inadvertently witnessed or participated in their stories. This said person somehow ended up in your world and retold the story in the form of a novel.”

Cheng Huan, “… …”

She understood what he was saying and was even somewhat convinced by said person. It was just that what he had proposed was too far off from her belief this entire time, she was a bit stupefied.

With a dazed look on her, she turned and gave Jiang MingYuan a look. Her voice disappointed, “How are you so calm?”
