Chapter 274 - Wedding Night (1)

It didn’t matter that she was told to not overthink. Cheng Huan wasn’t able to relax at all. She waited for the possible surprise both nervously and with anticipation.

As it turned out, she did overthink. Nothing special happened up to the point that they had finished dinner and left the restaurant.

Cheng Huan was minorly disappointed. Then she was even more baffled. Fastening her seatbelt, she frowned. “So all those work just for a dinner?”

“Yeah.” Jiang MingYuan rubbed her on her head and started the car.

The trees on the side of the road moved backward quickly. Cheng Huan looked out the window for quite a while before she noticed that they were not on their way home. She turned toward him and asked, “Are we not heading home?”

Jiang MingYuan said no. “I’ve got a few concert tickets. I thought we can go.”

“Oh.” Cheng Huan nodded and looked down at her outfit. “Can I go dressing like this?”

She had never been to a concert before but she heard that one needed to go in formal outfit.

Jiang MingYuan stopped at a stop light and turned to look at her. He nodded, “Looks fine to me.”

The concert took place in a large theater in City S. Walking inside, there were only a few people scattered all over. Jiang MingYuan brought her to the center of the theater and the lights went off. The curtains opened up in front of them and the music started. The others inside the hall walked out.

Classical music could surely make one relax. Even one’s soul would be quelled under the music and became peaceful. The concert lasted for two hours and Cheng Huan almost didn’t want to go when it was over.

Walking outside of the theater, Cheng Huan let out a long sigh. She turned and smiled at Jiang MingYuan, “Where are we going next?”

She was sure he was up to something by now.

Jiang MingYuan, carrying the sleeping XingXing in his arms, smiled back at her, “There’s an outdoor performances along the riverbank. Interested in taking a look?”

“Sure.”

City S was built along a river and the area immediately next to the riverbank was a famous tourist area. It was quite well-known in the area.

They settled XingXing in first and had an assistant came over to keep an eye out on him before the two left, hand in hand.

If the concert was an auditory pleasure, then the performances were a feast for the eyes. Many stages were built along the not-so-long stretch of riverbank with performers performing on each of them. The audiences could walk around between them.

There was no particular theme in these performances. The one on the left might be street dancing and the right was firewire dragon dance, and there were even the less and less frequently seen acrobatic performances.

Cheng Huan had originally thought that Jiang MingYuan had some other plans in mind but she wasn’t so sure anymore. There were so many people here. It would be difficult for them to talk.

But that’s was fine. His purpose did not matter. Watching at all the breath-taking performances, Cheng Huan felt that they were very entertaining regardless of whether or not Jiang MingYuan had other plans in mind.

The outdoor performances along the riverbank lasted for a long time. It was still going by midnight. Cheng Huan walked away from the stage that was performing traditional dance and kept on walking. She had a skewer of candied haws in her hand. She took a bite of the haw and it was very sour. Her eyes and brows all squeezed together from it. Forcing herself to swallow what was in her mouth, she quickly tossed the rest of them into the trash can. She then asked Jiang MingYuan, “Did you do all this?”

Jiang MingYuan nodded. “This is a project that we have worked with the government on. There will be three days of performances every year. Our plan is to have a fixed tourist festival.”

“You do something like this too?”

Jiang MingYuan drummed on her head. “Why can’t I?”

“I just can’t associate you with something like this.”

“Why not? When this become known, there will be tourists. Developing tourism will be good for all shops in this area.”

“That is true. As long as there are people, there’s money to be made.” Cheng Huan looked around and rubbed her chin. “Should I have a booth here too? It looks like there are a lot of money to be had.”

Jiang MingYuan, “… … I brought you here to have fun.”

Cheng Huan chuckled. “I am just kidding.”

That might be what she said, but truth was, she was already considering the possibility of having a second shop over here.
