The Villainess Survives

Chapter 2 - Another world

[4 Years Later]

The sounds of guitar strumming could be heard from a room. A mȧturė female voice sang the lyrics to a song that was talking about heroic deeds done by a single person. Inside the room was a mother and her daughter which was sitting next to her.

"Mama, What song is this?" asked the childish voice who was swinging her head from side to side and humming the lyrics.

"sweety, it's called 'The Hero Of The Beasts'." The mother replied after giving a light-hearted chuckle.

"Hero of the Beasts?" the little girl questioned

The hero of the beast. A legendary figure who is known for his accomplishment of setting free millions of beast-kins who were slaves until the abolishment. Although human, he is adored by all beast-kins who live in the current generation. The reason for this is because he fell in love with a dog-kin and wanted to free her from her master who was a royal. He started a rebellion using his own power and united all the captured races to fight against the king. In his demands, he stated that he would only give up if all slaves were released and the banning of slavery as a whole. And it succeeded. The king stepped down allowing his child to take up the job and the cycle continues.

"A few years ago, he set free millions of beast kins across the country from slavery. It is thanks to him that we can go out without the fear of being captured. But Amber, you should still be careful because there are bad people." Her mother exaggerated her tone as she continued talking. She didn't want to bore her with long explanations especially since she wouldn't understand as a child.

Amber, a reincarnator who has been born as a beast-kin or demi-human 4 years ago. Her exact race is a bird-kin defined by the angelic white wings on her back, and the abnormal amount of strength she has for a 4-year-old. Her mother is a bird-kin while her father is a full human from what was told to her.

The wings are quite small and can be folded so she can hide them if needed but with age, they will get bigger. But her body will also get bigger so there should be no problem in getting abused as she can hide her wings. She had a tattoo on the back of her hand with a symbol that looked like multiple storms. Although Amber did look at it, she didn't pay it any heeds and only thought of it as something akin to a religion or tradition.

Her mother continued playing a nice and calming tune as the little girl's eyelids started to get heavy. With each plucked string, she became drowsier and drowsier until she finally collapsed while hugging her mother. The mother kissed her child on the forehead before she herself also fell asleep. Next to her.

They live in a single apartment styled room. From the day she was born, she hasn't been able to set foot outdoor and neither did her mother. Her mother is too sick to do any extreme movement. She spends most of her time on the bed singing and telling stories to Amber. Not that she mines but she couldn't help but wonder what was past the door. The only supply of sunlight they ever got was from a tainted window which only allowed a little white light to pass through. The food is brought through the little opening at the bottom of the door. It has a variety of dishes that are prepared from who knows where.

'If I can be honest, it's quite lonely here but that's alright. At least mom is here.' The little girl thought to herself. In her past life, she didn't exactly have the best of lives, especially with her overly strict and homophobic parents. But now she has a mother that loved her and didn't put expectations on her to become the greatest ever. It was honestly refreshing.

In the 4 years she has been alive, she didn't really do much apart from sleeping, eating, running around and familiarizing herself with her new body and strengths. As a beast-kin, she had a higher level of strength than her past life even as a child. She even started to practice how to fly but to no avail. And the day's went past as usual.

"Sweety, could you fetch me that book?"

Amber stood up from the bed and started running to the edge. She opened her wings and allowed herself to glide down as she jumped down from the bed and reached the bookshelf. She tried reaching for the books but they were too high up for her tiny little body. Clearly, she had underestimated the power of height.

"Don't worry, I'll get it." Her mother replied as she opened a drawer that was next to the desk. What she removed next was a strange stick with a floating rock at the end of it. Amber looked curiously as she pointed the stick forward towards where the book was.

She suddenly started speaking in a smooth voice while the tattooed symbol that was on her shoulder began glowing a teal blue colour.

"I beseech the wind to blow the item towards my direction. Gentle Breeze."

A magic circle formed with a star in the middle and unknown writings around the circle. the book that was on top of the high shelf was gently nudged forward and was elegantly pulled the book towards her. It all seemingly went in slow-motion in the eyes of amber as her eyes stayed glued towards the book. Her mother opened her palm as it slowly landed on it.

Amber's eyes glistened as she ran towards the bed and jumped on it. She looked into her mother's eyes and asked

"What was that?"

"That was magic." she looked at her eyes and replied.

"Can I do it?" Amber asked while bouncing around all excited. Who wouldn't be? It's a weebs dream after all

But just as Amber spoke those words, her face distorted and she looked at Amber with eyes of worry

"Kaboom!?!?!?"

'Surely that's an exaggeration. But she said it with such a straight face' Amber thought to herself while looking at her mother.

"Yes, Kaboom. And unfortunately, that would sully the Silverwood name. They wouldn't be so happy if a child died from something dumb."

"Silverwood?"

'Where have I heard that name before?' Her thoughts started rotating around her head while her mother replied

"Yes, your father is part of the Silverwood family." She replied with a face of disgust and hatred.

But Amber didn't have the time to look at her face as waves of information suddenly crashed onto her head. Her mind was busy processing all the new information and folding them into an unknown category. The name Amber Silverwood, a villainess in a story that was otome game like that she had written when she was 13 years old. It was an amateur story with a poor excuse for writing. In fact, the backstory of the villainess wasn't even known in the story. Just that she was a beast-kin and was evil for some unknown reason. The story mainly focused on the heroine and the multiple love interests including a girl who she developed to be just a friend because LGBTQ+ discussions weren't popular at the time. Especially if her parents had found out, she would've been dead. The characters were basic at most including the villainess. Though the world did have a detailed magic system created by her. It seems like this world has filled in the plotholes and gaps of the story.

"Are you okay?" asked the mother staring at her daughter worriedly. This managed to snap Amber out of her daydream while looking at her mother.

"Whose Silverwood?" Amber asked to convince her mother that nothing was wrong.

"Whaaat, but I'm not ti- *yawn* red"

"Yes you are, come here and sleep."

"Hmmmmm- Fine." she jumped on top of her mother and hugged her. She slowly closed her eyes as her mother combed her short black hair.

She decided to think about the events today at a later date.. Today she fell asleep peacefully on her mother's ŀȧp.
