The Villainess's Revenge

"Maybe I should make you one of my drinking buddies."

Duchess Ella jokingly said, to which Lady Melissa let out a laugh too.

"I'd be more than honoured to be your drinking buddy Duchess."

Lady Melissa said as she gave Duchess Ella a wink.

"I'll take you up on that then."

Duchess Ella said as she gave Lady Melissa a wink.

All of a sudden, Duchess Ella felt an arm around her neck, as her survival instincts immediately were alerted, and she took the person's arm, pulling it forward as the man quickly used his power to fight back against Duchess Ella.

"Relax Ella! It's me."

The man said as Duchess Ella immediately dropped the man's arm the moment she heard his words.

"I'd appreciate a warning next time."

Duchess Ella said, as the man apologised, deciding that the next time he'd ever do that to her, he'd give her a warning in advance, not wanting his hand to be snapped like a twig, the number of times it had happened was concerning.

"Oh, Lady Melissa, this is my husband."

Duchess Ella said as she introduced the man to Lady Melissa.

Duchess Ella paused for a few seconds before she continued her sentence introducing her husband to Lady Melissa.

"And this is Lady Melissa, the student I talked to you about last time."

Duchess Ella said as she faced her husband, introducing Lady Melissa to him.

"It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance."

Lady Melissa said as she let out a smile to the man who did the same in return.

"Likewise, the Duchess has said many things about you."

The man said as he looked to the right, and Lady Melissa could see Duchess Ella's face, saying as if she didn't want him to say anything about it.

"All good things I hope?"

Lady Melissa jokingly asked, though she did hope that Duchess Ella had been talking well about her, after all her relationship with the Duchess was special, she was like a mentor to Lady Melissa.

"Oh please, you don't know how many good things she's told me about you."

The man said as he let out a smirk to Duchess Ella as Lady Melissa felt the romantic tension in the air between the two of them.

Lady Melissa decided that it would be best for her to just leave the both of them alone, not wanting to know what could happen next.

"Unfortunately, I have to go now, I'll talk to you later Duchess Ella?"

Lady Melissa said as the Duchess merely nodded her head, her eyes fixated on her husband whilst she liked her lips, Lady Melissa immediately leaving the both of them alone, deciding that she'd just talk to some of the other nobles.

Just as Lady Melissa was approaching one of the nobles, she had been approached instead, by one of the nobles.

"It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, I am Lady Whistledown." 

Lady Whisletown said as she bowed down to Lady Melissa a bit, and Lady Melissa instantly recognized who she was.

She was one of the most influential women in the capital; amongst others.

Her words were practically like news, especially to everyone in high society.

People wanted to be in her favour; and a lot of them were desperate for it, knowing that being in her favour would earn them a couple of advantages, and she was a great ally.

Lady Whistledown was a force to be recognized, whether people liked it or not.

Lady Melissa llet out a smile before she greeted Lady Whistledown as well, making sure that she didn't do anything to accidentally offend her whilst doing so.

"It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance as well Lady Whistledown, I'm delighted to see you."

Lady Melissa said as she let out another smile to Lady Whistledown who quickly returned another one back to her.

Lady Melissa and Lady Whistletown spent the next ten minutes or so talking with each other; discussing the scandals of the people in high society, most of which Lady Melissa already knew about due to her previous life.

Though Lady Melissa's eyes would glimmer every time she heard an interesting scandal that she didn't know about in her previous life, she was determined to make Lady Whistledown her friend, no matter the costs it'd take.

Lady Melissa knew that Lady Whistletown thought the same, and if she didn't then Lady Melissa would make her think the same, she would make the feeling between the two of them mutual.

"It's been a pleasure talking to you Lady Whistledown, but unfortunately I must go now, oh and invite me anytime you want to host one of your gatherings, I'd be more than delighted to attend."

Lady Melissa said as she sent Lady Whistledown a wink, she'd be more than delighted to attend one of the great Lady Whistletown's events.

"I guess you'll just have to see later on."

Lady Whistletown said as she sent back a wink to Lady Melissa to which Lady Melissa let out a smile.

Unfortunately, though Lady Melissa and Lady Whistletown's conversation had been cut short due to the fact that Lady Melissa had to speak to a few other nobles, though Lady Melissa did enjoy the time she spent with Lady Whistledown.

After Lady Melissa talked to a few other nobles, there was suddenly an announcement, as Lady Melissa saw her parents had finally arrived, just in time when they were going to make an announcement.

Lady Melissa noticed that the Crown Prince and the brunette-haired woman were on the stage ,making the announcement, just when Lady Melissa thought that the King was going to announce that the hunting event was officially going to start.

In Lady Melissa's past life, it was the King who was on the stage, and it was him making the announcement, not the Crown Prince or the brunette-haired woman, or even the both of them.

Lady Melissa raised her eyebrow, just wondering what kind of announcement would the Crown Prince and the brunette-haired woman make, especially one that would involve the both of them, needing her to be on the stage with him as well.
