“Brother, you’re back,”

“Oh, Mia,”

“Brother, was the hunt tiring? Are you hurt anywhere?”

Mia approached and began searching over Gu Ming’s body. Gu Ming quickly caught her fumbling hands and said,

“I’m not hurt, just a bit thirsty.”

“Understood. Your dear Mia will get you some water right away.”

“Oh, thank… thank you.”

Before Gu Ming could finish speaking, Mia had already hurried off to the kitchen.

“Find water, find water, fetch water for Onii-chan, hmm.”

In the kitchen stood a beauty in a pink apron who could make fish sink and birds fall with her looks; she was carefully cooking.

Mia gently took a cup from the cupboard and stealthily began filling it with water.

“Hush, quietly now,”

Tina walked up behind Mia and called out,

“Mia, what are you doing?”

Startled, Mia turned to look at Tina.

“Oh Tina! I was just getting some water because I’m a bit thirsty.”

“Oh is that so?”

Tina sniffed,

“Aiya! Never mind that now; my soup is almost ready.”

“Alright, you go ahead with your tasks,” Mia said after she got the water and prepared to quickly leave the scene.

“Oh, by the way, Mia, has Master Brother returned yet?”

Mia paused and answered guiltily, “Not yet.”

“Really? I do hope Master Brother comes back soon to taste my cooking.”

“Haha, Brother will definitely be pleased. Well then, I should get going. You continue with your work.”

“Mm, okay…”

As Tina finished speaking, she noticed Mia had already disappeared and tilted her head in confusion.

“Why did she run off so fast?”

“Brother, here’s your water.”

“Oh, thank you.”

Gu Ming looked puzzled at the lips before him.

“Mia,” he began as Mia swallowed the water in her mouth and calmly replied,

“What is it, Brother?”

“You’re doing this because…”

Mia blinked innocently and said coyly,

“I just thought… personally… to give Brother a drink of water.”

Gu Ming said with a smile, “I can do it myself, no need to go through all that trouble.”

“It’s no trouble.”

“Really, there’s no need.”

“Mmm, it is needed.”

After some back and forth, Mia swallowed her saliva in resignation and lifted her lips close to Gu Ming’s face.

“Mmm.”

Seeing the lotus-like beauty before him, Gu Ming swallowed hard.

Sensing Gu Ming wavering slightly, Mia added fuel to the fire by saying, “Mia just wants to give brother a drink of water. There really isn’t any other intention. Please don’t refuse Mia, okay?”

Gu Ming’s heart began pounding wildly.

“Mia…”

“Brother…”

Just as their lips were about to meet,

“Master Brother, what are you playing at?”

Startled, they quickly pulled apart.

“Oh Tina… uh… well… Mia said she got sand in her eyes; I was just helping her blow it out. Haha,”

Tina looked at Gu Ming with a broad smile.

“Is that really what happened? Master Brother?”

“That’s right.”

Gu Ming hurriedly looked towards Mia and said, “Right, Mia?”

With her head lowered, Mia smacked her lips slightly. “Tsk.”

“Hmm?” Gu Ming gave Mia a puzzled look.

Realizing his gaze, Mia lifted her head and warmly said, “Yes, that’s exactly right, Tina.”

Tina looked kindly at the two of them. “Oh, I see. Well then, big brother master and Mia, don’t just stand here; the meal is ready. Let’s go eat.”

Gu Ming nodded his head and Mia quickly followed suit as they caught up with their steps.

Tina thought to herself: “That was close; almost got outsmarted by this little girl. Looks like I need to keep a closer eye on her from now on.”

Mia thought to herself: “So close! Just a bit more and brother would have openly accepted my love. This detestable cow-woman. does she enjoy thwarting my love for brother so much?”

Gu Ming thought to himself: “This is so awkward; why aren’t they speaking? Geez! Why does it suddenly feel much colder around here? Is it just my imagination?”

At the dinner table, Simon and Haimer watched Gu Ming with smiles tugging at their lips.

“Come on,” said Simon.

Mia picked up a piece of meat and held it in front of Gu Ming’s mouth.

Feeling somewhat embarrassed by everyone’s gazes around him,

On the other side,Tina frowned slightly as she watched Mia.

“Master Brother”

Gu Ming turned his head.

“Hmm?”

Tina picked up something and held it to Gu Ming’s mouth.

“Don’t just eat meat, you need to eat vegetables too.”

The two women said in unison.

“Here, ah~”

Opposite them, Haimer couldn’t hold back any longer and asked with a smile on his face,

“Seems like you’re enjoying this, aren’t you, apprentice? Haha.”

Gu Ming gave him a sideways glance and opened his mouth to eat.

“Oh right, Gu Ming. I will be leaving tomorrow. Remember to miss me,” he said.

Gu Ming paused in his eating for a moment before resuming as normal.

“Hmm.”

From noble mtl dot com

“Don’t be so cold now. Good apprentice, at times like this you should be showing great sorrow and tears; then cling onto my legs saying ‘Master don’t go,’ and then…”

Gu Ming remained expressionless but felt somewhat melancholic inside. He quietly took out a bottle of Maotai from his backpack and handed it over to Haimer who brightened up immediately and grabbed the bottle,

“Aha! I knew deep down you really didn’t want me to leave. Don’t worry; once I’m done with my tasks, I’ll definitely come back to see you,”

Simon joked,

“Old buddy, won’t you come back for me and Charlie too?”

Haimo chuckled.

“Look, everyone, come on, drink up. All the words are in the wine, little brother.”

“Alright, let’s drink. Today we won’t stop until we’re drunk.”

“We won’t stop until we’re drunk. Charlie, you should join us too.”

“Thanks a lot, Brother Hai.”

Charlie stepped forward to down two glasses and then returned to his spot. Seeing this, Simon commented,

“Ah, Charlie, you’re still as stiff as ever.”

Charlie smiled,

“I still have work unfinished today; I can’t drink too much. Please forgive me for that Brother Hai.”

Haimo replied heartily,

“No worries! Isn’t there another little brother here to keep me company? Come on then; let’s continue drinking!”

“Sure thing!”

After three rounds of drinks had passed around the table everyone retired to their own rooms.

In the middle of the night at a corridor corner outside Gu Ming’s room door stood a woman slowly approaching with a tray in her hands when she noticed a shadowy figure lurking stealthily.

“Mia?”

Startled Mia turned towards Tina and said,

“Oh Tina!”

Tina asked,

“Why are you here?”

Mia stood up, taking charge as she said, “That’s exactly what I wanted to talk about.”

Tina pressed on, “What are you planning to do with that pillow in the middle of the night?”

Mia blushed slightly and stammered, “It’s because…,” she continued bravely, “my brother asked me to host a nighttime gathering.”

Tina responded with hostility, “If that’s the case, I look more like someone who’s about to host a party.”

Mia glanced at Tina’s attire and laughed mockingly, “Which world do people wear silk pajamas…to attend a gathering in a man’s room? Idiot.”

Tina’s face also turned red as she retorted, “Still better than an idiot who brings a pillow to a party.”

While they were still arguing endlessly outside in the corridor suddenly appeared a pair of mysterious eyes.

“Apprentice,” came from outside. “For today’s two bottles of Moutai sake let your master lend you a helping hand. Spirit of Wind…”

After Heimer recited his spell, a strong gust of wind carried the still bickering women straight onto Gu Ming’s bed.

“Ah apprentice,” he sighed. “I really take on too much for you…”

In the room where Gu Ming was sleeping soundly until he heard a loud thump and saw two women falling towards him from mid-air.

“Cough cough, you two, what is this?”

Mia chuckled awkwardly.

“Um, brother, we don’t know what happened either. We just suddenly whooshed in here.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Ming activated his detection skills and immediately sensed the residual aura of Haimo outside the window. He cursed under his breath,

“Damn it, you old ghost! Even on your last night you have to eavesdrop from behind the walls.”

Then he turned to them and said,

“Alright, I think I understand what happened. Everyone go back to sleep.”

Mia immediately protested coquettishly,

“No! I want to sleep here!”

She then quickly covered herself with a blanket. Seeing this, Tina silently pulled over Gu Ming’s blanket from the right side.

This wasn’t the first or second time something like this had happened; Gu Ming didn’t feel like saying more and feigned death by closing his eyes.

“Oh well, let’s sleep.”

A few minutes later Mia touched Gu Ming’s hair and said,

“Brother’s hair is so warm.”

Tina touched the other side and responded,

“Mmm-hmm. Surprisingly comforting.”

At that moment in bed with his eyes closed, Gu Ming was desperately resisting an inner urge.

“Stop your nonsense Second Brother; they are not your enemies stop your nonsense; Heart Clearing Mantra; Heart Clearing Mantra. if my heart is as clear as ice no catastrophe can disturb me;

Unperturbed amidst myriad changes. serene in spirit and calm in qi;

Untouched by dust. unstained by worldly appearances.”

The Void, tranquil and vast, a realm of nothingness…
