A roar followed behind Ming Zeng and Ze Yu.

They were barely running for less than 2 minutes and were almost reaching the edge of the city. The guards who were guarding the surroundings could see them from the walls once they both got a few more meters closer.

ROAR!

The Drake was even more furious when it saw that its prey was still running.

Ming Zeng and Zu Ye attempted to counter this demon beast with all their might, but they could do no harm. The Drake always dodged or attacked at the same time, causing these two to retreat.

The bells were heard from the wall, alerting the guards nearby and sending them to the front. One of the guards had seen the two boys and the demon beast. He observed the beast and realized that there was no record of it, so he proceeded to alarm the guards so as not to make a mistake.

The guards soon began to gather. Nearly 20 guards in the rank of Great Heaven and 10 in the rank of King gathered, watching the Drake that was chasing both boys.

"Aren't these two the young masters of the Ming family and the Ze family?

"What is that demon beast?!"

"We've never seen it!"

"Call the Lord of the City!"

The city guards went to the front. They recognized Ming Zeng and Ze Yu, as they were the most promising young men of the star city, their power had surpassed that of their generation. Once this demon beast entered the range near the walls, they would start attacking.

The Lord of the City quickly arrived on the scene. Once informed by the guards of what was happening, he walked out of the entrance to the city, watching the demon beast that continued to pursue the two boys, nearly reaching the city.

"That demon beast is still at least in the Emperor rank, almost to the point of reaching the Legend rank!" The City Lord, Long Cheng, spoke seriously when he tried to examine the Drake

All the guards were surprised by such news.

Almost a rank Legend?!

Everyone couldn't help but feel agitated, nervous, worried...

"Long Hong, gather the Emperor ranks who are here. We can't let this demon beast into the city!"

Long Hong affirmed and turned to inform one of his followers.

There were one Legend rank, two Emperor ranks, and just over 10 King ranks, not to mention over 30 Great Heaven ranks.

The Drake finally arrived, almost catching up with the two boys.

Long Cheng, Long Hong, and the other guards made a crescent formation, with the Lord of the City in the middle.

Ming Zeng and Ze Yu came close and stopped. Although they were tired, they had to join the formation and help fight this demon beast. They would not have a face if they ran away instead of helping, since they brought this demon beast, they have to at least do something.

ROAR!

The Drake didn't care to see any more humans and headed towards them, entering the half circle.

Long Cheng stepped forward and cut with his blade.

The Drake snarled in pain, when Long Cheng's blade managed to wound one of its paws a bit, so it angered him further and began to launch attacks against Long Cheng.

Long Cheng dodged, attacked, and defended himself against the incessant attacks of the demon beast, getting some scratches and blows.

The guards around him did not stand by and watch.

When the Lord of the City stepped forward, they began to throw their weapons as well. With their spears or arrows, they threw them in the direction of the demon beast, managing to slow it down and even preventing it from striking with its claws and seriously injuring Long Cheng.

Everyone had perfect coordination. With decades of facing the demon beasts, they had all trained to the fullest to hone their skills both as a group and individually.

This was a huge fight. More than 30 people against a demon beast.

The guards, barely in the Heaven rank, watched from the walls, unable to believe such a horrible battle was taking place. They had been ordered to watch rather than to engage, as they would only be as cannon fodder.

Ming Zeng and Ze Yu also began to attack this demon beast. They had been chased away by it, causing them to lose their face, so they began to take revenge completely.

The Drake held out for almost an hour, attacking everyone who attacked it, roaring and trying to bite those who were nearby. Its body began to fill with wounds over time.

The towering roar that was heard at first grew weaker over time.

Long Cheng managed to bury his sword in the head of the demon beast, thus ending the battle.

Long Cheng's body was full of wounds, blood covering more than half his body. The other guards were no better off. Some were badly wounded, to the point of falling unconscious. Others lost some arms and legs when the mouth of the demon beast reached out and bit them.

15 guards of the Great Heaven rank and 3 guards of the King rank died.

It was a tough battle. It lasted almost an hour.

The other guards of lower rank, left quickly to help the wounded. Others took care of the bodies.

Both Ming Zeng and Ze Yu managed to survive with some serious injuries. Somehow, when they were about to receive a serious, life-threatening injury, the guards protected them. As direct descendants of the great families, they could not afford to die.

They both said nothing about what might have happened to Yun Mengxin. They believed that she was probably already dead. If they said anything, the Yun family would be suspicious of them, creating a great conflict. Therefore, they were frustrated to lose their Goddess. What a pity!

Knowing that this demon beast in the form of a bird that flew effortlessly, they had to report it to the Lord of the City. That demon beast surely murdered Yun Mengxin, so they reported that they had gone out to train, nothing more, and so the two of them met in the night, and then were pursued by the Drake.

Long Cheng was surprised to see these two young men already ranked as Emperor, so he would later congratulate them. Now he had to check the results and aftermath of the battle.

Long Hong helped Long Cheng, supporting his body so that he could walk.

"This nightmare is just beginning. It looks like there really is hell ahead of us..." Long Cheng sighed when he remembered something.

Long Hong said nothing, but he knew what the City Lord meant.

The attack of the great horde of demon beasts is still to come in a few days!

This was simply like the introduction of hell that would be unleashed once the demon beasts decide to attack.

The patriarchs and ancestors of the great families arrived at the site shortly afterwards. They had found out late because some lower-ranking guards working as night defenders on the walls informed them, as they did not participate in the battle.

Without waiting a second, they headed for the site.

Knowing that the danger had passed, they all relaxed. They also apologized to the Lord of the City for being late.

Long Cheng was not angry with them. He had even forgotten to call them, only concentrating on calling and gathering those nearby to prevent the demon beast from entering the city.

Looking at the results of the battle, the Lord of the City sighed. Then he looked at the body of the demon beast. This one had never appeared in the annals of history, so it was certainly a tough battle. The power of the demon beast seemed to be able to reach the Legend rank in a few days.

It's a good thing the demon beast decided to attack earlier.

Although they suffered many casualties, at least they avoided a future misfortune. If this demon beast joined the demon horde later, the star city would be in grave danger.

Looking at the body of the demon beast, Long Cheng could not help but think.
