Battle (1)

He had not finished speaking when Duan Wenzheng suddenly interrupted him. “If we’re the first to choose our opponent for the match, why don’t we directly challenge the first team?”

The whole team fell silent at Duan Wenzheng’s words.

Qi Siyu broke the silence. “Not to mention that the other team may not accept, the challenge is originally a stake between both teams’ scores. If they win they can gain 305 points, while we have to deduct 305…”

“So if we lose, we will be the first team with negative points?”

In response to Si Yiyu’s words, everyone’s faces appeared awkward in different shades.

Qi Siyu, however, was deliberating over a thought. He muttered, “We’re the first from the bottom right now, there won’t be worse results. But even if we can be the first to challenge a team, the other party can refuse the challenge.”

He mumbled to the assaulter Meng Weiran who joined the team together with him, “They are the first team, will they accept the challenge from the last team…”

“They won’t turn us down.”

Duan Wenzheng’s casual yet confident tone surprised the other four. Xue Lan reacted first. As if he realized something, he looked up at the notice of the teams’ list of names.

Indeed, the member in the first team that was totally different from the other four members’ points that were over 130, with only 57 points was….Deng Ruiqiu.

He secretly settled his eyes on Deng Ruiqiu who was surrounded by a few people not far from them. Although he had the lowest points among those people, they clearly still had faith in him.

Even if he didn’t haggle over his last shot in the game, Duan Wenzheng shot him dead in the first points match. That kind of friendly provocation which was observed by everyone, how could he not want a retaliation?

However…

Sympathy involuntarily emerged in Xue Lan’s eyes. Based on what he understood of Duan Wenzheng, Deng Ruiqiu this time most likely would become their “experience baby” again.

As if there were eyes watching him, Deng Ruiqiu turned his head in fright but realized there was nothing.

His line of vision settled on Duan Wenzheng and Xue Lan in the corner and he couldn’t help clenching his fist—the first day he arrive at the training camp, he had suffered from these two. But no matter, they were nothing but lucky, his team was currently the training camp’s number one high scorer, while they were merely the first from the bottom.

The team match was set to be three weeks later. These three weeks would be used for the newly formed teams to get along with each other.

Qi Siyu could choose to participate in this circumstance, Xue Lan also slowly suppressed his ill feeling about him joining the Thunder Team later.

The team’s getting-along was not just any getting-along strategy but was more of a getting-along about the five team members’ tactics, personalities, and other elements.

Qi Siyu originally hoped his new teammates could practice a lot and they could continue playing the group ranked match after the training. But unexpectedly, whenever the training had not finished yet, Duan Wenzheng would yawn again and again. When the time came, as if it was time to get off work, Duan Wenzheng would shut down the computer and leave.

Qi Siyu couldn’t help feeling sullen seeing this, so he went to follow Duan Wenzheng and left the training room together.

Xue Lan knew, Duan Wenzheng currently did not feel strongly about playing professionally. An innate player like him sometimes was not only a competitor but also the teammates’ “nightmare”. But he was well aware that Duan Wenzheng would not keep being like this; while in the training camp, his relationship with Wen Yan would slowly dig out his genuine love for esports.

So Xue Lan was not bothered about this matter. When all his teammates had left, he continued playing the single-player game to gain energy experience and enter the national server ranks.

Every night in the training room, trainees would start leaving one by one. In the end, the training room would be deserted, leaving only two computer screens that stayed bright.

One was Xue Lan’s, and the other was Deng Ruiqiu’s.

Xue Lan did not feel there was something more to this, only that he finally could seriously train like the others, and also was fully aware that his account and his technique were way lacking compared to professional players, so he thought he had to catch up. It was not the case for Deng Ruiqiu; whenever he felt sleepy and wanted to rest, he would always notice Xue Lan’s computer, which was far from his, would still be on. That figure was absorbed in the game as he sat in front of the computer.

So Deng Ruiqiu gritted his teeth and sat back down, and played another game.

But after he played to the point he felt sleepy and his head dizzy, Xue Lan still did not have the slight intention to leave.

Luckily, every time he was so sleepy he wanted to throw his mouse and curl up into a ball to sleep, Reset would come to get water from the water dispenser at one side of the training room. While he was at it, he would carry a certain energetic little demon upstairs to sleep.

Deng Ruiqiu then weakly slumped on the chair and hurried to sleep after the two left.

This day, he waited and waited. Seeing that the time was already almost half past two in the morning but Reset still had not come to lift the person away, he had two large dark circles under his eyes. Worried about his life, he prayed he would come quickly and take the person away.

He was thinking like this when suddenly he heard someone come in from outside the training room. He quickly canceled the queue, but was startled when he turned around.

Xue Lan was exchanging fires with a few people and did not notice someone was approaching.
