The Witcher: Elemental Lords

#279 - The nobles who came to visit

Rosa was different from Bernard. Bernard was long accustomed to social interactions. Even if someone helped him, it would only be an exchange of benefits. But Rosa was different; she was still young, and her humanity and morals hadn't fully matured. As long as you treated her a little better, there would definitely be rewards in the future.

Thinking of this, Dole stroked his chin, a slightly mischievous expression appearing on his face.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Dole was too lazy to waste mental energy and directly manipulated the magic array to open the door to the alchemist's room.

Standing at the door was a middle-aged woman. The aura around her was very strong. Just standing there, Dole felt a strong pressure.

She wore a signature robe of the Glory Wizard Alliance, wide and imposing. On her chest were decorations of four white dragons.

A level four water-type wizard.

Who is this?

Just then, another person came from the side. It was Wordsworth, the vice-dean of the academy. After arriving at the door, he bowed to the middle-aged woman and said, "Your Excellency, what an honor to have you here. Why didn't you tell us in advance so we could welcome you!"

The middle-aged woman glanced at Dole in the room, shifted her gaze, and focused on Wordsworth, revealing a professional smile, "No need to trouble you. I'm here this time only to see Alchemist Dole."

Wordsworth's heart sank. He glanced at Dole, stepped into the room, and said as he walked, "Dole, this is Madam Xilan, the inspector of the Glory Wizard Alliance in Northwest Province."

Dole was slightly startled.

An inspector? This was someone sent by the Northwest Glory Wizard Alliance to inspect various places, with supervisory authority over the Glory Wizard Alliance in various regions, wielding great power. Why had she come to him?

The Glory Wizard Alliance had indeed pressured him a bit, but he had quickly retaliated by kicking all the Glory Wizard Alliance-related alchemists out of his alchemist class. Could it be because of this?

This thought flashed through his mind. Dole stepped forward, bowed slightly, and said, "Madam Xilan!"

Xilan looked at Dole, her professional smile turning into a scrutinizing one. Following Wordsworth, she stepped inside and looked around the laboratory.

Dole's heart sank as he followed her gaze. There were many things in his laboratory that couldn't be seen by others.

Xilan glanced around, not paying too much attention. She looked at Dole and said, "Dole, right? Not bad, not bad. A level three wizard at such a young age, your future is limitless. I'm here today to confirm something."

Dole's heart sank. It's here.

He nodded and said, "Please ask, Your Excellency!"

Xilan looked around, her gaze landing on one of the rooms, "Is Rosa here with you?"

Dole was slightly stunned. She wasn't here to pursue his responsibility, but rather about Rosa. She actually knew Bernard, knew Rosa?

Xilan suddenly smiled, "Didn't Bernard tell you? His mother is in my family."

Dole felt a little surprised.

This Madam Xilan could be seen at a glance to be a noble. She had a noble temperament, high above, her gaze level with him, but full of pride and a hint of disdain. This was a unique characteristic of nobles.

However, why was she looking for Rosa?

At this time, Rosa heard the commotion and walked out from the room next door. She saw Xilan at a glance and immediately became terrified.

She quickly ran over, about to kneel in front of Xilan.

Dole quickly stepped forward, grabbed her collar, and stopped her, his expression a little displeased.

Rosa struggled a bit, but couldn't overcome Dole.

Wordsworth was a little surprised to see this.

Xilan frowned slightly at Dole's actions, but didn't say anything.

After Dole restrained Rosa, he shook his head. He didn't know what this child had experienced in her childhood, but her current behavior was really somewhat disappointing.

"Let me go!" Rosa said softly, as if afraid of disturbing someone.

Dole said expressionlessly, "Stand up straight, and I'll let you go."

Rosa struggled a bit, but couldn't break free, so she could only stand up straight. Only then did Dole let her go.

Seeing this, Xilan roughly understood what Dole was trying to do. This child was interesting, but was it easy to fundamentally change a person?

She smiled and scolded coldly, "Rosa, you're a wizard now. Don't kneel to others at every turn. Except for those stronger than you, who require magical etiquette, you don't need to kneel to anyone. Remember, this is the dignity of a wizard. Look at yourself, where has the dignity of a wizard gone?"

Rosa lowered her head, not daring to look up.

Dole was a little surprised. He thought Xilan would be angry.

He said, "Rosa is here. What do you want to ask?"

Rosa was indeed extremely scared in her heart. You must know that this Madam Xilan, even many years ago, was an extremely powerful figure in the family. She had seen her many times, and offending her like this was really courting death.

However, Dole was grabbing her collar, so she couldn't do anything.

Nobles were fickle. Although she said that, Rosa wasn't happy at all.

Xilan nodded. She looked at Rosa and said, "Rosa, I want to ask you, would you be willing to come with me and become my disciple?"

As soon as these words came out, the room became unusually quiet. Not only was Dole shocked, but even Wordsworth behind her was shocked. So, this old woman came here for this?

If Rosa became Xilan's disciple, wouldn't these two siblings soar to the sky in one step?

Wordsworth was also a level four wizard, so he naturally understood that there were differences between level four wizards. Xilan, as an inspector, had a complete magic tower.

He remained silent, quietly observing the development of the situation. As long as it wasn't related to Dole, it had nothing to do with him. Rosa wasn't even a member of the academy.

Rosa also raised her head at this time, somewhat stunned. She wanted to take her as a disciple? How was that possible?

This was a level four wizard!

Should she agree, or not? If she didn't agree, what if she pursued her and her brother's crimes?

For a time, she struggled.

The room was inexplicably quiet.

Everyone was waiting for Rosa's decision.

After waiting for about five minutes, Rosa raised her head and mustered her courage to say, "I want to wait for my brother to come back. Wherever he goes, I will go."

Xilan frowned slightly, somewhat displeased.

Rosa had outstanding talent, and Bernard was actually not bad, but Bernard was older and no longer had the value of development. If she had to bring a Bernard along, it would be a losing proposition.

She carefully considered the pros and cons.

Cultivating a disciple was not an easy task. The matter of resources was not a simple matter. A wizard, without resources, would have limited achievements. Bernard was an example.

She glanced at Dole at this time, the corners of her mouth twitching slightly.

Although resources were the most important factor, this little boy in front of her was another exception. He himself was his own resource.

She thought for a moment and said, "Alright, I respect your decision. I'll wait for your brother to come back." She glanced around, disliking the surrounding laboratory. There were too many dangerous things here. This Dole was probably not as gentle and simple as he seemed on the surface.
