The witch's rebirth
15 Blood Magic?
The scent of Blood from two people hit me. Surprisingly there was no trace of it in the room. The place wasn't screaming with artifacts but my sense detected an item I overlooked last time. A small feather by the flower pot near the elevator.
I felt its power make my skin crawl as soon as I place it in my pocket. The I followed Ronnie in. Moments later, we walked out of the elevator. Down the hall past a couple of uniform who recognized me and waved me past without asking for ID. On the shiny white plastic tag, it said I was a specialist on rituals and ancient artifacts. It was a fair description keeping most of my secrets safe and the council of my back most of the time. I tried my hardest to stay away from them while doing my job, most of the time I succeed. In the time it didn't I was in a lot of trouble.
This time the tax-payers were supposed to pay me sixty-five dollars an hour with expenses or a daily rate of six hundred and eighty without expenses. It was a lot of money. But there was a good reason.
More importantly almost no witch wanted to help the humans. Most of the time they were the cause of the incidents and as long as they didn't shift the balance they were in the clear. That was a snipped I love to tell Ronnie but couldn't. It would make her appreciate me more.
"The butler said he saw nothing else?" I ask.
"She said there was nothing out of the ordinary. They requested champagne, candles, and condoms, gave a big tip too." Ronnie gave me a glance out of the corner of her eye as we reached the corridor and I saw the butler up close. "Everything was normal. She was then called out by the boss. Leaving the three floors unattended."
"Can I talk to her?"
Ronnie nodded. The butler turn out to be young attractive brunette. Not what I would have expected but should have expected from a place like this. She looked the part dress up in a tight tailor suit with her hair up in a bun with a silver pin. I could tell just by the look at the pale pink aura that she was in love with someone at work. It was a common occurrence. Normal people were in love all the time and many times, I envy them. They learn to love again and again. It was amazing. I shrug her off as nothing of importance or significance, a mistake.
