The witch's rebirth
35 Taking the job?
The job sounded like something too good to be true. I mean it was doing the right thing. Finding something lost for its owner that without it she could die, circuit overload is no joking matter I should know, getting a big paycheck out of it and getting to know a charming male that didn't know Diana. In my first life, I turn it down. Becuase I didn't like trouble. There was something very fishy about it all, starting from him waiting to meet me, the people that were bumping into me and the case I was on.
"I'll take the job if we make a soul deal." I said handing him my card, "Everything you told me has to be true and I'll find and deliver it to you in five days. IF not you know."
It was a bold move. I think I gave the beautiful boy, grey hair.
"Well, then try my friend," I said handing him Alcon's card from my pocket and placing the mirror down next to the envelope. " I think he'd be a better fit for your problem. After all, I'm just an antique dealer, not an antique hunter."
Ever since Alcon got promoted, his name carried a lot more weight than mine and he was the best there was in the business of retrieval. He was now known by his first name just like Share the singer.
"You'll regret this," he said glaring at me. "My master does not take No very well. I will have to ruin you."
'Really, then I take it back."
"You will take the case," he asked sounding surprised. "That's great."
"No, I'm not sorry for turning you down."
"Then the job goes to Ceyx. But if you change your mind you can reach me here," he said as he slipped a folded piece of paper into my hand.
I felt a cool breeze wash over my hand and a slight tingling sensation. It was a passive spell that I had no idea what it was meant to do and I don't think it's wise to let them know that I know that they were up to no good. I mean anything you say can come back and haunt you. Having a good understanding of the possibilities mad it worst for me to just stand there and let it be. I looked into his eyes and place a small spell of my own, gifting him with my nightmare and a tracking spell. It was a risk but I don't think there will be anyone capable of piecing it together and trace it back to me so I was using a very complex spell.
His eyes widened and he quickly pulled his hand away from mine. He looked genuinely surprised by the little trick I had pulled.
