The World of Masks
Part 2 Prologue
Krietz is still staring across the horizon, holding a long pole. The land to the north, looking up at the high Sentry Post, is still desolate. A land crumbling in cold, dry weather. It was not thought that the place where the unknown plant was twisted and withered was the place where life could live. The dry wind lifted my eyes. It seemed like tears were coming out, but Krietz didn't even look north for a moment.
I wouldn't normally carry out my duties this diligently. As long as Krinitz was not a sincere human being with good words, and there was no war, and there was no unusual flow of air between the countries, monitoring other countries was half-assed. But it's different now.
We don't know when the monster's troops will push south.
Not long ago, but a few months later, a rumor struck countries in the north of here.
It was rumored the Demon King was resurrected.
People didn't believe the rumors. No, I consciously avoided the rumor. The name "Demon King" itself is a pronoun of fear, and people were afraid to accept the Demon King's resurrection itself. It was like the psychology of people who felt that there was something wrong with their bodies but hated going to the hospital because they were afraid of being confirmed by a serious illness.
However, when people saw the fragile country, they were increasingly terrified that the Demon King might have been resurrected. For them, the presence of a coalition of forces united the northern kingdoms and joined the holy neutral cities was a beam of light in the dark. They cheered as hard as they could. It was located in the low productivity north, so it was not as good as food, but the belt was tighter and more supportive and voluntary for the Allied forces. People hung on the Allied forces that much. Besides, word on the street is the Demon King's resurrection rate is extremely low. At last, the Dark Wizard (although his name was fearful enough) thought that their proud royal army and the holy and neutral cities of the gods would solve it.
But their expectations were completely shattered.
People hesitated when they came back relying on a broken spear, dishonorably dragging their limp arms and legs. The glowing armor becomes dirty, and in your mouth, only the groaning of pain and despair resonates. A flag that symbolizes the kingdom, which has become a mosquito, shows their situation in stages.
The Allied forces have been defeated by the Demon King.
People panicked. You scream and write evil in fear and despair. It was only a matter of time before the kingdom became Abigail. Usually, a powerful force overwhelmed them, but most of the troops already went to kill the Demon King and lost their lives. If you scrape together the surviving Stragglers and the remaining soldiers, it's hard to protect even a single capital. In the end, the rest of the kingdom's territories, except for the capital, were almost as anarchical.
People began to prepare for evacuation. The kingdoms of the South or the Holy Neutral City may accept them, but they can't die by the sword without doing nothing here. The Demon King's invasion has already been confirmed.
It was a kingdom that had already lost most control of its territory, but it did so with minimal preparedness. It was like sending a few flying soldiers to the border to watch over the invasion of the Demon Prince. Of course, the reason was to seek asylum from the Crown Prince to another country immediately if the Demon King invaded.
No one volunteered for this as long as the mission was a mission. Of course, they forced the person up top, and Krietz became one of those assholes. Krinitz speaks blasphemy, but the coworkers around him don't say anything, not even the one in front of him. I just look at him with sympathetic eyes, and press and hold on to the joyful shout that they were not elected.
That's why Krietz is sitting on top of a sentry post, roughly woven into this desolate wasteland.
"Damn it!"
Krinitz shuffles his pockets. It was a cigarette. I was already smoking more than 40 cigarettes today, but I wasn't worried about the quantity. I couldn't get enough cigarettes from my superiors. You've got plenty of supplies. It was for heavily stressed sentries. Of course, Krietz never thanked me. If you hand over these cigarettes and say, "Well, we don't want your support." Be proud, "Krietz would punch a guard or a guard standing in front of him right now, even if he couldn't say or say something like that. I couldn't have imagined it before, but the royal authority had already fallen to the ground.
You just gonna run away? '
I felt that way several times a day. However, I only liked it, but I couldn't move it to practice. Even the superiors were not fools. Once every three days, they send someone over to make sure they're guarding their position. The cause was supplied by sentries, but no one believed it naively. If they had not held their place, the retaliation would have returned to their families in the capital.
There were two choices: abandoning your family and seeking freedom, or continuing to do this shit for your family. And Krietz was not a great man to cut his family to pieces with a dagger. After all, I had to keep my eyes open and be alert.
"Hey, Krietz."
Sitting crouched in a corner of the Sentry Post, he lights a cigarette with flint stones, and a colleague standing next to him says, Krinitz frowned, thinking he was interrupted by even the most annoying cigarette hour of his life, which was the only joy to this annoying mission.
"What?"
Krietzsche grumbles.
"The Demon Lord. Are you sure you want to attack?"
His companion bites with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
"I don't know."
It was an indifferent Krenitz, but even in the corners of his heart, his expectations of his colleague's words settled.
The Allied forces were fearful after their defeat, but a month later, two months later, they were beginning to feel a little nervous about the monsters' invasion. Of course, the Crown Prince's invasion is still clear and he must flee to the south before it's too late. Some argue that the Allied forces were defeated, but not even the Dark Wizard. Crinitz desperately wanted the rumor to be true, which could be his last hope. The hope grows with undead and monsters standing guard and invisible. But it could be Saturday before the storm, so the tension only grew with hope.
"Huh?"
Seeing the smoke rising from all the stress, I heard the voice of my colleague beside me again.
"What the hell!"
Is this guy finally gonna stop me from smoking? Krietz's voice is filled with complaints. A voice full of unpleasantness was enough to make others feel unpleasant. However, the colleague pointed one direction with his finger, not reluctantly, not even neurologically.
Krietz turns his head and squints at where his colleague is pointing. Krietz's expression hardens.
There's dust rising in the distance, and something dark is slowly moving below. Their sizes were each. There were shapes the size of humans, there were shapes slightly larger than humans, and there were also shapes that were collectable.
Please, the mind that wished for the Demon Prince's army to become as misunderstood as a rumor floating carefully in the marketplace, this moment became a total fog. And the absolute terror overwhelmed Krietz.
"Fuck! Fuck!"
Krietz and his companion quickly begin their descent into the Sentry Post, expressing their profanity. I used up all my breastfeeding strength and ran to the place I used to live as a temporary home nearby.
"Huh? What is it?"
Another colleague, who was waiting for his shift while waiting for the accommodation, asked curiously, looking at the two flying birds.
Krinitz breathes rough and heads for the stable with horses nearby. Then I threw a word to my curious colleague.
"The Demon Lord!"
Tuck!
My colleague's face is all white and puffy. Usually, he would have ridiculed her for a few days, but now he couldn't afford it. The thing they were most afraid of happened.
It was a massive invasion by the Demon Lord.
