Chapter 70, The Whisper of the God of Love (Part Ten)

This was one of the monster’s largest limbs, just a step away from its body.

In other words, he hadn’t distanced himself from Ailuka at all; he was, in fact, closer to her.

“But… why?”

For safety’s sake, shouldn’t the man have thrown himself as far away as possible?

Mu En hadn’t had time to ponder this.

The light suddenly dimmed in his line of sight.

The man stepped in front of Mu En again, his gaze calm as he stared at Mu En, the terrifying sense of oppression descending like a mountain.

Mu En’s breath caught, and without a second thought, he rolled over and leaped up, channeling his energy.

He had to create some distance.

Shadow Step!

Boom!

Just as Mu En initiated the stance for his Shadow Step, the man suddenly took a decisive step forward.

In an instant, the entire monstrous body trembled violently, as if an earthquake of magnitude eight had struck.

After all, Shadow Step was a special movement technique and could not leave the ground, so Mu En’s center of gravity became unstable, and the Shadow Step he had yet to execute was interrupted once again.

This time, the man hadn’t even used any martial skills.

Mu En felt like a naive child in front of the man; any move that seemed powerful was nothing more than a child randomly waving a branch to the man.

Full of flaws, utterly simplistic.

Even taking it seriously would be an insult to the man.

“Damn it!”

This was probably the umpteenth time Mu En had cursed today. Being toyed with so casually by the man stirred the fierce determination within him.

So, disregarding everything, he swung his twin blades again, slashing toward the man.

But if the man still possessed any human emotions at that moment, he would surely sigh.

Sigh for Mu En’s choice at this moment.

Because being swayed by emotions during a fight—

Was a grave mistake!

The man reached out again, meeting the two beams of light from the blades.

From noble mtl dot com

The blade light was like silk, resembling two crescent moons, seemingly not allowing even a drop of water to pass through.

Yet the man’s hand, in a bizarre manner, slipped through the gaps between the two beams of light and gently patted Mu En’s chest.

The terrifying inner strength erupted from his palm, and Mu En was immediately sent flying once more.

“Cough, cough…”

Mu En’s stomach churned, and he spat out bile.

Before he could continue cursing, the man stepped forward, arriving in front of Mu En again.

Another palm strike.

Mu En was forced to fly out once more.

The man seemed to have become addicted to this move, relentlessly pursuing Mu En, who had no chance to even stand.

Palm.

Fly.

Spit acid.

Palm.

Fly.

Spit acid.

This cycle continues.

“Young Master!”

An, seeing her Young Master being toyed with like a broken sandbag by the man, became even more anxious, manipulating the metal with reckless abandon in her assault.

“Haha, Master, why are you so agitated? Is it possible that Mr. Mu’en is the one you like?

No, Master, you can only accept my love!”

Ailuka laughed joyfully, and even as countless limbs were crushed by steel, her happiness remained unshaken.

“I originally planned to let Mr. Mu’en receive my love as well, but now it seems that letting him be killed directly by Ade might be better, right?

Hey, Master, why don’t you surrender? As long as you surrender, I might consider letting you go.”

“You’re dreaming!”

An gritted her teeth in rebuttal, taking a deep breath to force herself to calm down.

The poise of a perfect maid always allowed her to better control her emotions.

And in such a critical moment, a calm mind could always spot something amiss more quickly.

Thus, as her mind raced, thinking of how to help the Young Master escape, An soon discovered a clue.

—Why has the Young Master been beaten by the man for so long, yet apart from vomiting last night’s dinner, it seems like he is completely fine?

……

“Cough, cough, I see now, I understand.”

Mu’en leaned against the monster’s enormous body, emptying the last bit of content from his stomach, looking at the man in front of him with a helpless expression, he said with a wry smile:

“Even if I want to deceive Ailuka, could you choose a different method? This feeling of almost throwing up my stomach really isn’t pleasant at all.”

The man remained silent.

He simply stared at Mu’en.

In his vacant eyes, nothing could be seen.

Like a puppet.

But.

Who says a puppet has no heart?

“Save her.”

The man spoke for the first time in front of Mu En.

His voice was hoarse, as if he had just returned from hell.

“Okay.”

Mu En nodded seriously, without any surprise.

“I will set her free.”

Not caring about the difference between “set free” and “save,” or rather, the man had long known that for Ailuka at this moment, “set free” was equivalent to “save.”

The man reached out again, grabbing Mu En’s shoulder.

This time, Mu En did not resist.

He allowed that iron-clamp-like hand to pinch him painfully, then, like picking up a chick, he was thrown away.

At this moment, Mu En was not far from Ailuka.

But the man still exerted all his strength.

So, he flew very fast!

“Ah?”

Ailuka finally reacted.

Then the joy vanished instantly.

She had been betrayed.

Betrayed by the one she loved the most!

“Why? Why!”

Ailuka’s shrill scream echoed:

“Ad, you want to betray me?

Why? Clearly, you have already thrown yourself into my arms, shared my love, why does the power of the God of Love have no effect on you?

Why?!”

In the extreme anger of being betrayed, the entire body of the monster trembled violently.

Hundreds of faces wailed in pain simultaneously, countless words of love, like the cries of ghosts in the dead of night, nearly pierced the eardrums.

The deformed flesh began to writhe in an unprecedentedly active state, countless strange limbs could not wait for the skin to split, and brutally broke through the flesh, blood splattering.

Then those limbs, wrapped in the foul-smelling blood, completely disregarded An, who had seized the opportunity to attack with all his might, and surged towards the betrayer and Mu En on the other side.

The man did not resist, allowing himself to be grabbed, entangled, wrapped, and then gradually devoured by the deformed limbs.

He was about to merge with Ailuka once again, this time, he would no longer receive special treatment, but would become one of those hundreds of faces.

His eyes remained vacant, but deep within, it seemed something was flickering.

Just like earlier.

Why betray you?

Is there even a need to ask?

Because I love you, Eluka.

I’m sorry for being deceived.

I’m also sorry for not being able to stop you.

But in the end, at least let this useless man be of some slight use.

At the very last moment before being completely consumed.

The man raised his remaining hand.

Then his fingers curled slightly, like the claws of a beast.

In an instant, like thunder!

An invisible wave centered around his palm rapidly spread out.

But the target was not himself, but those deformed limbs that followed Mu En.

……

This is…

My final love.

……

Eluka’s roar abruptly ceased.

Because a figure, having crossed numerous obstacles, finally arrived before her.

“Hey, Eluka.”

Mu En stood atop the writhing flesh and blood, looking down at that still lovely face.

As if greeting an acquaintance, he softly said:

“Good afternoon, have you eaten?”

“The roasted whole lamb you treated me to last time was delicious.”

ps Sorry for being late, today I present two updates together.

Launch Message

It’s launched.

First of all, I want to thank all the readers for their love, and thank the editor for their support.

I couldn’t have come this far without you all.

Actually, there’s not much to say about the shelving, so let me talk about the book itself.

First of all, this book, especially the plot at the beginning, indeed has significant issues, with certain logical flaws, which many readers have criticized.

In fact, when I first started writing, I didn’t feel there were any logical problems because my logic was quite simple.

The protagonist travels through time.

He knows he is destined to fail as a yellow-haired character, while the original protagonist is the ultimate hero who can rampage in this evil god worldview.

The protagonist feels he can’t compete, so he gives up (wanting to apologize to the original protagonist and live peacefully as the son of a duke).

Then a dark book appears, giving him a prophetic dream of being tortured to death.

Thus, the protagonist believes that such a more tragic ending is due to his reckless attempt to change the plot (the world’s correction force).

So, compared to being tortured to death, the protagonist chooses to follow the original plot, which is to attempt to drug Celicia but fails and is reduced to a commoner.

However, unexpectedly, due to a twist of fate, he actually succeeds.

Well, looking at it this way, doesn’t the logic seem much clearer?

But perhaps I tried too hard to rationalize this part of the logic and over-explained it. Coupled with the fact that each reader’s understanding varies, it instead made many people feel that this part of the plot was too foolish and “toxic.”

In the end, it was still my lack of control over the plot that led to many readers having a less than satisfactory reading experience, so I apologize to you all.

The second issue is with my writing style at the beginning.

Because in the setting, the protagonist is an ordinary person who has crossed over into the role of a yellow-haired villain; he wouldn’t actively compete for fortune like a typical overpowered hero.

He just wants to “live” and be “happy.”

So when some conflicts arise, I used a lot of psychological descriptions to reflect the protagonist’s struggles.

Compared to the confrontational overpowered hero, I prefer a protagonist who, despite being afraid, can overcome that fear and make choices that warm the heart.

However, excessive psychological description not only made the protagonist’s image somewhat fragmented but also made him seem a bit “weak.”

In any case, I’m sure no reader would like the male lead during the Celicia plot.

Once again, I apologize to all the readers and thank you for your support even after such significant issues arose.

Of course, since I’ve identified the problems, they need to be corrected.

In fact, starting from the maid’s plot, especially from the Eluka plot, apart from some complaints, I will no longer include too much psychological description of the protagonist; instead, I will shape him through “actions” rather than “thoughts.” Doesn’t that seem a bit better?

All issues stem from my inadequate control over the plot and writing skills. If readers feel there are any other problems, please feel free to point them out after this post; I will review them one by one.

Having discussed the issues, let’s return to the plot of this book.

First, I want to say that each female lead in this book will not come easily.

Including An, whose favorability is the highest, so she is placed first, but the plot also needs to correct her “distorted” love.

Therefore, each female lead will have a long-term strategy process, and this strategy process is the “main line” of this book.

As for many readers asking why there are no interactions with other female leads… I just want to say that I really couldn’t find a point to insert other female leads into the first volume’s plot, and I cannot sacrifice the coherence of the plot for these interactions.

However, starting from the second volume, as new scenes unfold, the protagonist will have very interesting interactions with almost every female lead, so please look forward to it.

And from the existing worldview, everyone should be able to see that the subsequent story will be very exciting.

As for when the second volume will begin… for me, it has already started several chapters ago, hehe.

Alright, let’s end the small talk here. Once again, I would like to thank all the readers for their strong support, and I hope you can continue to support me.

Ahem (sneaks a glance), it would be even better if you still have some votes to cast, ahem (sneaks another glance).

Although these past few days have indeed been a bit busy for me, I assure you that your votes and rewards will definitely turn into actual updates later on.

For details, please see the pinned comment section.

So, I wish all readers can be happy every day. We will meet again in the next chapter.
