They Called Me FIVE
Chapter 118 - Twylyth Reunion
LANCE
Seven, Magnus and Alpha Beast has mutual understanding of the foreboding danger. While here I am and Sam totally clueless.
"What's Rhus?" I asked. Magnus paced back and forth. "It's a Faery poison. Meant to dispose any Rank Elders who dared to go against them. Why didn't I consider that? I should have known. Why my Koha reacts… that ugly b*tch, what kind of Faery is she Seven?" he spats.
Seven didn't answer. She went to the bed she destroyed with one kick and hack the wooden legs away. Throwing each one of us a piece.
"What is this for?"
"For the fight."
"Why?"
"That lady's a Twylyth. They're the best when it comes to deception and entrancing their victims. Her docile meek personality must have been cute huh, Magnus? You want to take advantage of her but you got fooled instead." Her tone is neutral but her words hit right to where it supposed to hit.
Magnus grimaced. "I wasn't fooled. I was just… anyway we should get out of here. Find a cure -"
"There is no cure." She answered flatly.
"What do you –"
I couldn't finish what I have to say. At the window, I heard a buzzing sound, like an army of bees is swarming the glass window.
"Duck!" Alpha Beast yelled. The window cracked and thousands of black winged creatures came inside and swarm the place. Magnus sprang his crosswords and thwack each wings coming too close to his sword range.
Sam was barely holding on his footing. With that flimsy wood Seven handed he's playing baseball to the creatures baring their teeth. He's the batter they're the balls. Only they move and chatter noises so painful in the ears.
I'm barely holding myself together either. I get to hit one each time I swing my wood, but received two nasty bites from their sharp teeth on my arms. My skin is bleeding. My cuts are getting nastier and deeper.
But these creatures just won't stop.
"We gotta do something!" I shouted. One got too close to my face I'm facing a pearl big black eyes, set of sharp long teeths and a very nasty grin of a clown in a bat body.
"Eek!" I closed my eyes and fling my fist. I hit it. I know I did. A loud puuuck erupted, and a sickening shloock!, followed. I didn't dare open my eyes. I was shell shocked and stood frozen.
Not because I was scared. Realization just slap me in the face so hard my ears are still ringing. Seven said 'twylyth'. I know it's been months since I had that dream, no wonder I forgot about it.
It didn't even cross. Not until that creatures face stared at me. In his black hideous eyes, I see the remnants of his used to be human features. The ragged clothes, the weary entranced look. No doubt he used to be a human. He's one of that Aufs chain by their necks, kneeling in front of a green woman, the 'Twylyth'…
Could it be that glasses lady and she are one and the same?
Seven advanced towards me. She's holding the wooden leg and a lamp on the other. Bashing heads and spraying bloods everywhere.
This must be the first time I see her in action. I know Magnus is fast, and strong but she's on a whole new different level. As bats flank us, she pluck a long metal pipe I didn't know where she found. She springs up the wall, moving faster she came out as blurry in my eyes.
All the creatures were attracted at the commotion she's doing. She smack, kick, rip wings and tear flesh from left to right. She's a raging sandstorm. Shredding skins with inhuman speed and ferocity I didn't know any human like us is capable of.
All three of us stops moving. There's no more black creatures to bat with. Seven is killing tens and twenties in seconds. Minutes ago we are outnumbered and helpless against their numbers, yet now… they can't do anything except scream and dissolve into heaps of skinless meats.
All three of us look at each other. I can't help but produce a short nervous laugh under my throat. She's pissed alright.
"Hey Alpha, was she always this scary when she's angry?"
Alpha Beast gave his face a subtle nod. "Master hates it if her power were forcedly taken. Reminds her of the past…" he whispered. I couldn't catch most of it.
'Reminds her of the past' I heard this as clear as a bell.
"Eternal destruction technique." Magnus murmured.
"What was that?"
Magnus didn't answer. He's standing transfixed, as Seven landed on the floor with the metal pipe. The last creature groan as she pierced the pipe straight to its stomach. If that wasn't enough she grab its ear and dissever it apart. Before proceeding to the neck.
The sickening rip sound is sharp to the ear. Her crimson eyes still blazed in rage. Believe me it make her face ten times scarier than white lady who crawl through wells in movies.
A hiss in the wind like a vacuum punctured erupted, the bodies of the black creatures she rip is disintegrating into dust on our feet.
"Seven you…" I couldn't finish what to say. Again. The door burst out and another wave of creatures, this time no wings, too much green, twice the ugly face, small feets, stout heights, alien circled heads.
"Goblins." Magnus confirmed.
"I'm also thinking." I added.
They swarmed the room and lined up in the corner. The glowing red eyes were familiar to me. It was the same one I caught a glimpse with in of the rooms. The last person to come in is the glasses lady.
Although she's not exactly 'human looking'. Her skin had turn withery green. Her hands now gnarled claws, full of warts and talons for fingernails. She's definitely not the easily blushed and swayed lady Magnus swooned over earlier.
"Hello my dear. Remember me?" She's cocking her green head to Magnus. Batting her eyelids, her green bumpy lips curling into a smile.
Magnus slowly paled. "You!"
She giggled. "How cruel of you to forget me so quickly. We just have a sweet moment on that night in your magical border right?" her smile slowly vanished. "You were cunning, Half breed. To think you were the Seeker we were looking for? Damn, it was uncalled for. My Master was furious."
She vaguely shakes her head. Sam beside me is giving me the eye. Mouthing the words, "What's a half breed?"
"Tell you later." I whispered back. He nodded curtly and turn his attention to the biggest goblin, giving him a stink eye, as if challenging him for one on one boxing.
Seven step forward. Glaring at the glasses lady. "Give back what you took."
She batted her eyelids innocently. "Did I? I was generous to you aren't I? I fed you instead of feeding you to my pets outside."
Seven glowered. Magnus put a hand on her shoulder, stopping her.
"Let me take care of her, you guys rip the goblins." He instructed.
Seven fall back. "Just remember to spare her head. I will carve our names on her eyeballs if she won't give it back."
That wasn't a threat. The hair standing in my arms can attest to that.
"Oh, really?" Glasses lady sneered. "Sometimes you little kids are too funny. Thinking you can get out of here alive, what are you trying to accomplish anyway? Find the others? I find you death boy. I know you'll come here and stay for the night. Now how do you think I did that?"
We all scowled. I know these scripted words too well. That's how villains convince the heroes to never trust each other and create conflict between themselves. Though it seems unnecessary to tell us that.
As it appears no one was swayed.
Her orders bounce across the room. "Take them." Magnus sprint towards her, his sword flash under the fluorescent lights. It clash against her talons and they exchange metal clanking fights.
Seven dashed to our right and have another killing spree with the goblins. Her movements were controlled and a bit milder than the previous fight. She's breaking sweat. Yet it appears she's not tired. She can still take on another round of monsters tackling her in groups.
I stayed close to Sam. Afraid he can't take care of himself that well. Or I just want someone to have my back. The other two are way beyond our capabilities. If we are two ordinary geeks playing superhero roleplay then those two are fantasy heroes borne alive from the pages of a book to cause more havoc in the already peaceful earth.
Unexpectedly, Sam can take care of himself. He's quick to adapt. Has infinite control of his body mass. Can leap heights like a frog and strike punches like elephant. I know I'm exaggerating but I just don't know how to explain it otherwise.
All of them are strong in their own abilities. We all are.. And yet, through the battles roaring in one single room, only one didn't join in and chose to sightsee.
